Thanks to a friends recommendation, today 2017.2.14. First trip to this restaurant. I feel pretty good, after all, not much of Sichuan restaurants in the United States Connecticut. Business is indeed booming. Wife is from Chengdu, Sichuan, China, and Chengdu is also the chef, waiter and our hometown in Chongqing sister. Dishes, services are recommended. There are Chongqing hometown dishes taste, though spicy flavor, fish flavor is not obvious. So that we are in a foreign land wanderer can satisfy their craving. After more thanve been a few times, to appreciate the point, it is the only downside. The shop has a tall, fat male managers is not greeted with impatience. If you can modify it to read, laugh, ask guests to treat the patient, good hospitality, the better. Now change the stores manager, greeted with a very good! Chengdu, Sichuan dishes taste great, so far away I can goods to local food spicy, really very happy. I wish the old Sichuan restaurant business is booming! Hope old Sichuan restaurant to open several stores, so that we can at any time for a real treat!

Sorry, folks. I thought this restaurant was good but I was so fooled. Not a real Chinese restaurant, cant even be compared. Its so shameful that they claim themselves or pay their friends/relatives to leave 5 stars to bring us idiots in. I have to share.... please be educated, they are gimic. They fool their customers with bad ingridients. We got sick over Mapo tofu. How can it be wrong? Bad meat, foul smell cant even be covered by the strong spicy sauce. Whatever they were using was bad. We tossed all night long because of the acid and bad smell of burps. Also, their so called beef noodle was a total joke. If they are a real Chinese restaurant, theyd know how to prepare a Beef Noodle soup. PERIOD. It had to contain meat, not strange things you cant bite. Folks, dont fall for the traps of this restaurant. I rest my case. Dont say that I didnt warn you.

It was awesome. Totally authentic. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 - Helen - Jan 14, 2008 Lao Sze Chuan Chinese restaurant in Milford is very good. It is not American Chinese food where everything is in brown sauce. It serves authentic Szechuan (Hot) food. It was awesome. Totally authentic. Since it is primarily szechuan, lots of food is spicy, but they will try to mild it down for the weak. The chef also makes special consideration for different levels of spice depending on the preference of the customer. They have a very impressive menu and there were so many other items we would have loved to try. Located at 1585 Boston Post Road, Milford, 783-0558, across from Linen N Things.

We eat here all the time since they opened. Hands down best Chinese in Connecticut. I am going to sound like a food snob but please dont order American Chinese food like orange chicken ect...this place makes,it well Im guessing but its true gift is making real Chinese food. Get the Ma-po tofu. Get the bamboo shoot or the hot pots. Ask for their recommendations. As a vegetarian there are so many options too. Simple dishes like the green beans, shredded potatoes, bean leaf are ridiculously good. Thats what I recommend and that is why we love this place.

Incredible Sichuan (or in this case, Sze Chaun) style food at an absurdly affordable price. As the style dictates, dishes are piquant and packed with flavor. The restaurant itself is not overly fancy, with tables donning paper tablecloths, but the unimposing, family style environment only adds to the experience. Not much is better than piping hot food straight from the kitchen, shared with friends and family. Try the Stir Fried Chili Chicken, its one of the best dishes I have ever tasted.

Being a Chinese, I like this restaurant. It is very authentic. Especially if you like spicy food. If you want to try some real Chinese food, ask for their recommendation. But be careful, it could be very spicy. Overall, I am glad we have a Chinese restaurant like this in New Haven area. One advise to the owner, when you are busy, try to be professional and "be polite to Chinese as well".

If you want awesome Chinese food......GO HERE. Im not saying that take-out food is bad, because its not. But THIS, is the definition of Chinese Food. Everything is good! The tea, the food, the waiters are nice. And, FORTUNE COOKIES. :) To those haters out there........ GET A FRICKIN LIFE. THIS CHINESE FOOD IS AWESOME. I DONT KNOW WHY EVERYONE GIVES THIS RESTAURANT 1 STAR. ITS 5 STARS!

The food is good here, we have also been to the Chicago restaurant. We sort of felt that food was better in Chicago, but it has been a couple of years since that last visit. The room was okay with tables tightly packed. We had two dishes: Spicy Fish, noodle soup and Cumin Beef. One more chinese style the other being more american. Both were done well and good.

Being chinese Im always on the look out for good chinese restaurants. However, this restaurant was a truly bad. The food was not well prepared and the service was the worst Ive have in years. The manager was extremely rude and was only paying attention to a table of friends. I took about 10mins just get tea and the restaurant was almost empty.

The food is very Authentic Chinese Food, very hard to find in America. The food dishes are not Americanized Chinese food. Ask for the level of spicyness you desire. This is fine place to eat, particularly if you are in the mood to try something different. Authentic Delish Asian Food! I cant wait to go back.

Mediocre. Portions were modest; the pan fried noodles tasted horrible, not crunchy at all and something was off with the sauce (weird flavor in it - it was the only dish that we did not finish despite its small size). Service was good, but the food was so average I dont think Ill be going back.

Food and service were both terrible. We all ordered meals with chicken and it was terrible> It tasted fishy like they use old oil. When we complained and tried to get our money back we were told that no one else complained that day so the problem must be us. Never going back.

Lunch special with tea, soup, appetizer, and main course is only $6 total. Our service was fast and friendly. The restaurant itself is small and bleak which is not necessarily a bad thing. There are a lot of Chinese customers suggesting that this is an authentic cooking style.

They advertise that they deliver however I just called and was told no delivery. This is the third time in a row. No explanation and it seems that their English is not good enough to explain why even if they wanted too. Ill take my money elsewhere thanks

I really like this place. Such unique flavorful offerings. I am giving only 4 stars because the brown rice was cold, dry and separate clumps. It had not been properly refreshed as it was clearly not newly made. But that wont keep me from returning.

Poor service!!! Poor Service +Good Food ≠ Good Restaurant. I do not believe that Lao Sze Chuan is the best American restaurant because of poor service. Please think about that before you go if you want to enjoy the food and service together.

Nice Chinese restaurant. A large selection of menu items with both American Chinese classics, and more authentic Schezuan style food. We had the cumin curry lamb and the eggplant, and would highly recommend both dishes.
