My office holds meetings in this restaurant frequently and the food is marginal, some dishes better then others. There is not alot around here that is convenient so we keep going until this past week. I brought 6 of my coworkers there for lunch and the waitress I think was new, or just completely inept. We always ask them to take our order right away so we make sure we get back down the road in an hour. She would not take the order and said "drinks first" 10 minutes later we got drinks, she then took our order. 5 minutes later we get soup and salad. (we have lunch from 1-2pm, so not we are at 1:15) Then nothing for 25 minutes, this is not the norm. Everyone has a bad day though. We start to get worried because we are in two cars and we have patients to see at 2pm and who wants to eat that quickly. We ask about the food, and we get "ok Ill check" another 5 minutes, and half of the staff decides to leave and ask the rest of us to have their stuff wrapped up. At this point I am upset because we only get an hour and we now cannot eat. Anyone who knows me, knows I do not draw attention to myself, and I NEVER complain, but this was not just affecting me. I go up to the desk and speak to the woman there who I think is the manager. She said she was. I explain to her all of the above. She says 1. "We are really busy" 2. "someone ordered egg fu yung, and we only have one frying pan" 3. "the girl went to take your order twice and you were talking and she couldnt" #1 and #2 not my problem, #2 who the hell has only one frying pan I have three and I dont cook? #3 Thats a lie! I asked her to take money off the bill, in my opinion it should have at least been the girls that had to leave, there were 4 of them. Her response, "ill tell the girl to take 10% off" "Me, if you dont take about half off we will not be back!" "The girl will take 10% off" ok then, our meetings will be held elsewhere, If I were you I would go somewhere else, dont waste your time

First off I want to say that I use to go to this place all the time cause it was very convenient in terms of distance from my house. If I could rate this place no stars I would. I dont recommend going to Golden Star because they charge too much for what they put in the sushi rolls, and they are mediocre. The main reason Im writing this review is because the other day while ordering on the phone, I was asking a simple question about one of the dishes and the lady on the phone didnt quite understand what I was saying. She raised her voice at me angrily. At that point I was going to just hang up but my family was just desperate for food at this point so I ignored it. When I picked up the food, I checked the receipt to make sure everything was correct because we ordered a lot. I realized something was incorrect and told the lady. She told me what she thought I said over the phone, basically telling me I was wrong. I know what I said, and it was not a big deal for her to question it like that. She walked away to get what I actually ordered. She came back and put the replaced item in the bag, she did not even look at me. She didnt say "thank you, have a nice day" NOTHING. The same lady on the phone that took my order was the OWNER. I usually never write reviews but this made me upset since me and my family order from Golden Star all the time. Seems like the owners are very ungrateful and only care about money. She did not treat me like a costumer at all, and clearly does not appreciate my business. Therefore I will not be returning to Golden Star anymore. Im sure I am not alone, and this has happened to someone else.

Ive eaten here a few times in the past, and Ive just had way too many bad experiences. Firstly their vegetarian food is crazy expensive. $8 for one entree PLUS $8 for rice on the side is insane. I could spend $30 just on a small meal for myself. The first time I ate there they gave me boneless spare ribs that were real meat when I asked for vegetarian ones. I ate them without knowing until I went back months later where I ordered them again and got something entirely different. They did not even care that they caused a vegetarian to eat meat. I gave them another chance and ate there again. After signing up for their online membership, I brought i their coupon for a free appetizer where the woman at the counter said "You cant just walk in and get free food! Ill take that coupon only if you spend $20. first." The coupon absolutely did not specify that, but she refused to honor it for a $3 bowl of soup. After arguing with her she decided to tell me that the coupon could only be used by people who dine in, although that was still not written on the coupon. She is extremely obnoxious and condescending towards customers. Not to mention once she gave me my soup after I had to pay for it I realized that it was not vegetarian. He response was "you asked for the regular one! you want veggie? you pay .35 more cents." Seriously?! I did not ask for meat! and I have to pay .35 after I went through all that?! I will absolutely NEVER go back. DO NOT EAT HERE! THEY ARE RUDE TO CUSTOMERS AND THE FOOD IS HORRIBLE!!

If youre a vegetarian, the Golden Star may be your best choice of restaurant within a radius of 20 miles or so! Restaurant that are exclusively vegetarian are very hard to find. However, Golden Star is an excellent choice for vegetarians because they have two separate menus, one of which is ALL vegetarian dishes! The vegetarian items include both Chinese and Japanese foods. Among the vegetarian choices is a "vegetable roll", which is "sushi" made entirely from rice and vegetables. It tastes delicious! The vegetarian menu has a wide variety of choices. Ive yet to try all of them but everything I have eaten tasted terrific! Even if youre not a vegetarian, you should consider ordering from the vegetarian menu simply because the vegetarian dishes taste so good! Every Chinese restaurant Ive ever seen has steamed vegetable dumplings on their menu, but The Golden Star has the best Ive ever tasted! The great taste might be in the sauce theyre served with, as they dont look any different from the vegetable dumplings served at other Chinese restaurants. In my experience, the service is pretty good, but its not lightening fast; so I would not recommend eating here when youre in a big hurry. This is NOT McDonalds; good quality food usually takes more time to prepare! When you are NOT in a hurry, give the Golden Star a try.

Ok..If you have ever had bad sushi...you dont want it ever again...This is what happened to me when I went to Florida and had BAD sushi. I was totally turned off by it... I am hard core...I eat the sashimi...SO...I go to The Golden Star and take a look at the fish, decide to give it a shot...OMG...I was hooked..The place serves super fresh food that is out--Ragious! The people were realy nice and the drinks were nice and strong the way I like them. After a long week, I like to get friends together and meet there. I got my Mom to try Sushi for the first time when she said "EWE, I am never going to eat raw fish!" I am about to bring a Sushi Virgin there sometime in the near future. My boyfriend is "Old School" wont try anything new, stuffy shirt...AND the biggest critic I ever met. So he orders from the Chinese menu. He complains about everything..BUT..He loves the food there..He finds it to be his favorite place to go for Chinese. It is a comfortable atmosphere where you can dress upor just wear jeans. So Go NOW!
