If youre looking for a nice BBQ/Southern Comfort dinner, you should try this place. I had the distinct pleasure of dining here yesterday (4/24/2013). The dining room was packed and there was a steady stream of people coming in an out. Thats always promising to see, so when we heard wed have to wait a bit before getting a seat I was okay with it. While waiting, I got a brief tour of the property and plans to create a great outdoor eating environment. Also while waiting, a waitress came and grabbed our orders for when a table was ready (we told them we were under a time crunch). Inside was clean, airy and very friendly. The humongous TV hanging up with the Sox game on was a huge bonus in my book. Sure enough, shortly after a table opened up and we sat down, there was a plate of meat in front of me. I ordered the half pound beef brisket in house sauce with the orange mac-and-cheese (they have two kinds). My dining partner had a pulled chicken sandwich w/ house made potato chips and the same mac-and-cheese. Without a doubt, this was the best brisket Ive ever had (and I went to an outdoor wedding in Amarillo, TX once). Tender, lean and scrumptious. Just the right amount of sauce on the top. The sauce was a nice surprise. Most places think that any meat sauce needs to begin with sugar. Not in this case. It was tangy, spicy and just delicious. I meant to buy a jar to bring home but forgot. After a few bites of meat, I tried the mac-and-cheese and just wanted to take a nap. Pure, 100% American comfort food. A nice cheese base, not a little cheese and lots of breadcrumbs like so many places offer. It had a very complimentary smokey undertone to it and I was fully prepared to start licking the bottom of the crock it was served in. Dinner conversation focused on how we were enjoying our mean and a good point was made... the pulled chicken sandwich was not swimming in BBQ sauce. There was a nice amount, but the sandwich wasnt a mess to eat. Additionally, with the house sauce in jars on the table, the customer could customize to their hearts desire. I have every intention of returning here to try the other things on their menu. Just a couple of comments - and I will remind the readers that we were under time constraints and the staff were trying to accommodate us. My brisket came out a couple minutes before everything else. Normally, this is the sign of a new wait staff; but it could also have been them trying to make sure I got my food. Also, the mac-and-cheese wasnt piping. It wasnt cold, just could have spent a few more minutes in the oven. Neither were big issues.

Let me start by saying, they have an awesome staff, the outdoor patio in the back is very nice, now about the food, I had the ribs and the brisket, which were both full of flavor and very tender, the cornbread is the best kept secret, the mac n cheese leaves plenty of room for improvement, my wife, really enjoyed the potato salad, and I enjoyed the collard greens, overall a great experience and I will definitely be returning, and will definitely recommend to others. The portion size was very good for the price. I recommend the 2 or 3 meat platter which is definitely enough fir 2 with food to bring home.

Two things have disappointed me. I ordered barbecue sauce that they sell. It was for a freind. I saw a worker pour store brand bbq sauce into a container. They wanted $10 for $1 worth of sauce. And ive had lots of different types of coleslaw, theirs is the worst. Absolutely disgusting! 4.50 for a hslf a cup of crap. And when i told them i couldnt eat it, i still had to pay for it. One bite, thats all i hsd. Go to Bears in hartford if you want real bbq.

My coworkers and I eat here alot in the summer. The food is fantastic! The outdoor decor is great. I do feel like they are under staffed most of the time so wait times are usually high in the summer. If you have time to kill this is a great place to enjoy the atmosphere in the summer. In the winter they are restricted to a small space so if you can grab a seat your wait time will most likly be really low.

Best BBQ around. They seriously know what the they are doing and make seriously delicious, tender and genuine smoked meat. It was actually the best BBQ I have ever had and seriously hope they never lose their way because this is a gem of a place. The wait staff is kind and friendly and although the eating room isnt the roomiest or quietest, but you can order out (by the pound) and take it anywhere.

Wow was so dispointed got yhere 30 min before closing coupke in front of me loq and behold they are telling us basically pulled pork mashtatoes and couple other things they mentioned that they were out U OWN A RESTAURANT U SHOULD HAVE STUFF STOCKED.. the girl that helped me was in a rush I felt bad for her.... never again went when they open NOTJINGS CHANHEDS

Great food. The brisket melts in your mouth. The fried chicken breasts was succulent and juicy. They forgot a item I had ordered for delivery. The staff was receptive and apologetic. They sent the driver out with my missing food item which was cornbread and it was delish! Definitely worth the money. Havent had good BBQ since I left GA!

During the summer they want you to eat outside you can eat inside but the food comes in a box with plastic silverware try cutting a burger with a plastic knife and you also get less product for the same price we usually love this place but wont be coming back in the summer it just doesnt taste the same SORRY it was a messy lunch.

Food is pretty good. The restaurant is small and always busy, especially around lunch time. At one point it seemed like our waitress forgot about us. There was at least a 25 minute gap between getting drinks and ordering our food. I had to look toward the kitchen in her direction for her to notice me. Overall its okay.

I worked an event catered by Taino. Even though I forgot to give them any warning, they put together a special meal that accommodated my dietary restrictions without complaint. And it was delicious! The staff was amazing and all the other food looked and smelled incredible also.

Eat in, Take Out or Delivery, Tainos is a must for anyone living or visiting Middletown CT!!! Brisket pulled chicken and the cornbread is a must!! Collard Greens and choice of different cheeses for the macaroni and cheese sooooo yummy!! You wont be disappointed!!

Best smoked meat and bbq Ive had in New England short of at home cooking. Locally sourced wood too. When I was there I over heard someone say it was thier third attempt to get a table. I can not wait to go back.
