Updated Review: I left my original review at the bottom. I was never going to come back here, but I had heard that the owner was going to do things like they use to and be more hands-on with the business. I saw many social media posts that made me believe they were actually starting to try. Everyone needs a 2nd Chance, right? Im glad I went back. WOW, this was so incredibly delicious! We had Mac & Cheese with bacon, plain Mac & cheese, and a bacon cheeseburger. The food was seasoned just right. The burger was cooked correctly. The burger buns were perfectly toasted. The bacon was deliciously crispy. The bacon was so good, that when I dropped a piece that fell onto the chair....I enabled the 5-second rule! It was too good to waste! Also, the owner was front and center! And when I chatted with him, he gladly responded back with genuine conversation. Orders are now modernly taken on the phone; which I personally think is smart to do. I initially thought he was playing on his phone while I was giving him my order...but i realized after he was just taking my order on it. Im sooooo glad I came back to check it out. On another note: I dont even remember or care to know how much the food cost, because whatever it was --> it was worth it!! We will be coming back very soon! Original Review: Overpriced for BBQ that is mediocre. Not good enough to go out of the way for. Seems like they are constantly low on supplies; including staple menu foods. A better management system needs to be put in place. There is no consistency in the food: sometimes its over seasoned, or undercooked, or dry etc...when I let them know (I only have when it was overly salty and not even edible) they didnt even offer an apology. He was able to offer me an attitude and tell me it wasnt over salted. I eventually received a replacement. I expect a better BBQ experience, since it is their "specialty". What else makes me not want to come back here? Not only is their food mediocre; every single time Ive gone, the customer service is non-existent. There is never a smile on their for the customer. They look like they are miserable. Looking for service with a smile? You wont find it here. Ive seen customers come in from far and are telling the employees how excited they are to be there to eat the BBQ. They might as well be talking to a wall. There is no enthusiasm shown towards the customer. Ive seen an employee in booty shorts...and I havent been back since. That was the last time I went I heard it use to be good years ago...

Id like to start out by saying that this guy is a wizard. He can take perfectly good ingredients and turn them to a pile of inedible excrement. An alchemist really. Where to start... Who cares that the place is small and seats like 3 1/2 people. Most good bbq places are like that. This however is not a good bbq place. Its not a good anything place. I have traveled around the country and have eaten my share of bbq, good and bad, this place is hands down the worst Ive ever had. The girl behind the counter was beyond rude and nasty. She alone should make you want to flee the place like the French Army from the German lines. Dont expect to have any of your menu questions answered. I dont think they can identify what they serve. On to what they are attempting to pass off as food. Or as they claim on their website, "competition level bbq." Lets just say that if this burnt up, dried out, husk of a former animal was ever entered into any type of competition, the only mention they would get is a certificate forbidding them from ever entering again. And the sides, how do you screwup coleslaw or potato salad? I dont know. Ask them. They seem to be geniuses at making even the most benign menu item an epic culinary disaster. The ribs were so overcooked that they appeared to be just bones. They were dry, tough, and still had the membrane attached. Plus the portions were way off. The whole rack was the size of a half rack, and the half rack was the size of a quarter rack. For the prices they charge, they should be ashamed, but then again they should be ashamed of themselves in general. The chicken was so dry it was like eating sawdust. I swear I have served better chicken to my cat out of a can. The only way you could choke down this chicken was by smothering it in bbq sauce, which tasted like it came out of an industrial size bottle from Costco. The only semi-redeeming part of this meal were the bacon bites, but even those became cloyingly sweet after a few mouthfuls. It cost $100 for a lunch for four people. I dont mind paying for good food, but when you end up throwing over 3/4 of it away because it is virtually inedible, that is an absolute disgrace. So do yourself a favor and make a different bad decision today. Youre better of going to the Golden Arches to get a McRib sandwich. Thats not even meat but at least you can chew it.

I have gone here regularly since they opened and it really is a cool business that USED to have the best burgers/food on the Island. I dont know what happened, but lately the quality of food has gone WAY down, the prices are still high, and everyone there seems annoyed by customers instead of grateful for them. I spent $25 there today and have a really upset stomach, which happened the last time I went too. I was hoping it was a fluke, but seems not. To the owner/s: Check your ingredients for carageean. It is an inedible form of seaweed frequently added to cheese and dairy products as a thickening agent. It is known for triggering stomach cramps. Like the ones I have right now. Please bring the quality back, we miss what this business was a year ago!!!

So, first, my apologies to the owners. I left a review a number of weeks ago that was not very kind. Owning a business, let alone a restaurant, is hard work and can be overwhelming. I could have made my point in a much kinder way and I sincerely hope my review did not hurt this business because this is truly a special and unique place. That having been said, there have definitely been huge improvements in the quality since my last review. I think whats even more impressive than a restaurant that has good food is one that finds a way to make changes when customer satisfaction declines a bit. Kudos to the recipes and hard work of everyone here. I encourage everyone to try this place out! It is worth it--and the location is beautiful!

Unique little place with homemade dishes. I took a star off because they are Inconsistent with menu items. The last few times Ive been there they were out of several things. I would also recommend them having more specials now n then. The collared greens were great but only seen them available once since they opened. The brisket and bacon bites are one of my favorites!

This restaurant was better than anything I couldve imagined. I grew up working at my uncles authentic BBQ joint in Tampa, FL. Its hard finding good BBQ north of NC, especially on LI. Only reason it doesnt get five stars is cause my mans is always working by himself which leads to lines and a lengthy wait just to order. Otherwise, SENSATIONAL.
