Surprisingly bad and expensive. First of all – the place smells burnt oil; the same smell even outside. I took out scallops and shrimps with vegetables and rice. It was ready in 8 minutes. Meal is too big for normal human and 2/3 of the meal was broccoli. There was also carrot and asparagus. Meal comes with carton of rice. I tried broccoli – tasteless. After I removed all the broccoli and put some rice, it started to look eatable, but when I tried it, I realized, that it is tasteless too. I added soy sauce (comes with the meal), but it didn’t fix it. And all it was $15.90. I could get really good Thai meal for $12. I know places nearby. I don’t understand how this place got 4*. And now my car smells burnt oil I gave 2* only because it wasn’t poisons (I’ll see if it’s true in a couple of hours), just BAD. Igor

Jia Mei has THE BEST chinese food around! I have gotten food here several times recently and the food is consistently amazing. I recently told the owner that I would write a review for them since the food was so good and he told me that they smoke their own pork for the pork fried rice and pork appetizer on site in their own smoker. The fried rice is made fresh and not out of a bag. I love that the meat is all excellent quality whereas at most other chinese restaurants half of the meat is gross nasty pieces that i dont end up eating. I always get the sezchuan beef and the beef is always SO tender. The sesame chicken is all white meat nice large chunks of chicken. Kevin, the owner, is super nice. I definitely reccommend Jia Mei!

We were thrilled when Jia Mei opened in Madison and have been going there regularly ever since. The food is consistently excellent and made with fresh ingredients. Not at all like the typical fare found at many asian restaurants (which can be heavy on salt and/or oil). The owner, Kevin, is very warm, hospitable and eager to share his interest in special dishes not on the regular menu. We often call ahead and ask what special, seasonal vegetables he might have that we can try and we are never disappointed. My particular favorite on the regular menu is chicken pan fried noodle. It is outstanding. We simply cannot recommend Jai Mei enough!

We went for lunch today.....the pork fried rice had about 3 tiny, tiny pieces of pork and about 3 pieces of bean sprouts. The red curry shrimp were the worst I have ever had.....nothing like this dish is supposed to taste....in fact, it was tasteless. The only thing good about the meal was the shrimp roll which they bought and fried. My wifes pad tai was measly, with very little chicken. We will NEVER return to this rip-off restaurant. And, wheres the hot tea and noodles usually served while you wait for your meal?

Well, my expierence at Jai Mei has been less than average. First of all, they are running a ponsy skeem over there. I know inside sources and the workers are VERY UNDERPAID. First of all, they get paid every MONTH. Kevin, if that even is his real name, STEALS half of what his employees should be making. I get paid around $300 a week at my job, but the love of my life is only making $50 a week for the exact same hours. If you dont want to get RIPPED OFF, never work/ dine at Jai Mei ever. Kapeesh? Kaposh.

All the reviews of excellent food, cleanliness, wonderful staff, affordable prices are absolutely accurate. Along with that they are very allergy sensitive, for example Gluten free, low salt, etc. Kevin, the owner, is terrific and will guide you as to which dishes work for these allergies. We love Chinese food, but have always had issues with various Asian restaurants not understanding our allergy concerns. Jai Mai does and addresses them carefully and there local for us. Absolutely- 5stars

Giving it 3 Stars for now... called up to order food at 2:55, but they said they couldnt serve us the lunch special. Its still before 3 pm... give me a break. Im with a pregnant woman who is craving Chinese food. I will re-review this place if we ever go back. My friend recommends this place, but he also liked Meccha Noodle, yuck

Best pork dumplings anywhere. This is the real deal, real fresh, no additives, and definitely no MSG. Im a New Yorker and this food is as good or better than the most famous Chinese restaurants in NYC like Mr. Chows and Jimmys. Thanks to the owner, Kevin, and his crew, Madison finally has a great Chinese to brag about!

I dont leave very many reviews, however after eating here a few times I feel compelled to. This is, without a doubt, the best Asian cusine I have ever had. The food is so fresh and the staff is incredibly friendly. This is a must try! The general tsau chicken is one of my favorites.

Been to Jia Mei Asian Kitchen twice already and have had two different meals. Both were outstanding. A small intimate restaurant with about 10 tables. Have not been disappointed yet. Staff has been friendly. Food has been healthy and amazing. Would NOT hesitate to recommend!
