For the last six years Ive been looking for good Korean food near New Haven. Ive been disappointed for a long time. The other day a friend recommended Midori to me and I have to say I think Ive finally found the food Ive been looking for all this time! This place was great! The bulgogi was tender and marinated nicely, the bibimbop was simple, but tasty and well-laid out. The prices were reasonable (i.e. as expected, a bit pricey) and the portions generous. The restaurant was clean, small and cozy. However, you have to be careful when youre going there your first time because its easy to miss the sign (its next to Primo Pizza which has a much bigger sign). Seriously, this is the best Korean food near New Haven. Dont miss it. Its really good.

My Hebrew school visited Midori for lunch last week. The soup was decent, but one of my fellow students, Moisha, pointed out the different species of insects that were crawling along the wall. I believe they were of the japanezius beetle genus. I was so surprised to see this that my yamaka fell off. The waiter, a young man with open-toe sandles, greeted us by screaming BONZAI....we told him to calm down, at which point he morphed into a dragon and flapped his wings around the room while chanting "sucky sucky long time long time"...Before leaving, the number 1 chef told us about the benefits of communism.

My friends love this place, so I went with them couple times. The food is average at best. I think my friends like this place because there is no Korean place in New Haven. (Well actually there is a place called Seoul in New Haven, but its the worst Korean food ever. No Koreans actually go there). In any case, perhaps they could at least improve the service and smile or something if this place wants to make up for their mediocre Korean food.

Although the dishes we ordered tasted okay, it felt like we were served TV dinner styled "Korean" food. There were only two kimchi side dishes that went with two entrees, and NO authentic grill where you cook your proteins yourself. Price was not very recession friendly neither. Service was snail slow even though there were only 2 other tables...(5 patrons) total. Do not go. Save your money, time, gas, and taste buds for another place.

Ive seen a lot of Korean food on TV and I was always dying to try it out. Midoris selection is a bit small but everything Korean that Ive tried was outstanding! I like that the place is small and quiet, the owner couple are really nice and friendly. Oh, and you can get mochi ice cream for dessert!
