No doubt the food in this place is good, but after how we were treated the last time we attempted to eat in this establishment we will never go back. Made reservations a week in advance. We stood in the less then 1/2 filled restaurant for 10 minutes without anyone even acknowledging us. Twenty minutes went by and after asking the waiter if it would be ok to seat ourselves, since empty tables were all around us, he scolded us telling he would be with us in a minute and the table we wanted to sit at was not for us. My wife looked at me in disbelief! I have never walked out of a restaurant because of the service, but I guess there is a first time for everything, just wish it was not the birthday dinner my wife had planned for me. How this place can be so short on staff is beyond me. From what I hear most of the time they will not seat you if you dont have a reservation even if the place is almost empty, so how can they not know how many guests to expect and have enough staff on hand to take care of them. All i can say is that the owner must not mind his staff treating his customers this way, or there would not be so many reviews with the same complaint.

Markus is a chef. He is not pumping out 100 assembly line filet mignons to seat and feed as many people as he can serve in a night. In this restaurant, like traditional European restaurants, your table is yours for the night. There is no rush to get you out the door, so they can feed the next 100 customers. If there are empty tables that are reserved, it is because the table will belong to that party for the evening. If the service is slow, it is because you are supposed to relax, enjoy the experience and feel like you are in your own home. What is the rush anyway? Dinner is supposed to be an experience, not a throw it down your throat and move on to the next event. Your meal is being freshly cooked to order, for you, by Markus himself. I hosted my Austrian fathers 70th birthday party there. The place was shut down for us, and the menu was tailored to fit my family. I love eating here. As a matter of fact, I have a reservation this evening!

My wife and I have been going to Watch Factory Restaurant for a few years now, and we have NEVER been disappointed. Marcus menu and food quality is outstanding. Everything is freshly homemade. His soups are killer. Everything Ive tried on the menu has been spectacular. The wait staff are exceptional and friendly. Very quiet environment with soft music playing in the background. As far as those who have said that they couldnt get in without a reservation, bear in mind that this restaurant has a very unusual policy where their patrons can stay as long as they want. You are never pressured to leave. Just the other night our party of 6 was there for 4 hours. And we could have stayed even longer. So never worry about being pressured to leave to make room for another reservation. This is absolutely our very favorite restaurant!

Why would an Austrian on a short visit to CT want to dine in an Austrian restaurant? Well, to make it short, do visit the Watch Factory. This is Nouveau Traditional Austrian cuisine of the finest. I had venison cooked to perfection. You would have to look hard to find such good venison here in Austria. The chef - Markus - understands with craft and a great deal of love to bring out the best of Austrian cuisine. The service was delightfully charming. I had no problem with having to wait for my freshly cooked meal. One has to decide whether one prefers quality or speed. "Gut Ding braucht Weile" ( Good things take time) ... giving things their time to come into their own is what creates "Gemütlichkeit". Lots of it to be found at the Watch Factory plus a great Austrian chef... our loss, your gain. Enjoy your meal, Mahlzeit.

Excellent food indeed. Never crowded. Pleasant, unpretentious atmostphere with good soft music. Service is pleasant, if at times slow; the staff is small (though tables are plentiful). Prices are on the high side, but the food is worth the price. Unfortunately the comment about closing a little early at times is accurate; that and the sometimes slow service are the only real negatives I can give this place. So its best to make a reservation; the food is worth that little trouble.

Perfectly portioned, authentic Austrian country cuisine in a comfortably decorated, repurposed space. Nice menu selection in the $20s to the $30s and you get what you pay for. Delicious! Note that we ate dinner during the week and there was only one [very friendly] server and the chef, Markus so the service was pretty slow. Make sure you bring good company! As of this review, theyre closed on Sundays and Mondays, but doublecheck the website and make reservations.

more evidence of why CT people know nothing about food...this is one of the finest restaurants in CT, hands down. JamesCT review was dead on...the food comes out a leisurely pace, but whats the rush? Enjoy the food instead of cramming into your face. This place is true gem that wont be around forever. Markus is truly one of the best and is virtual one man show in the kitchen.

My family and I wanted to have dinner one Saturday evening without reservations. It was 7.15pm. Reastaurant was half empty but we were still turned away with explanation that they were booked for the night. Little more creativity was expected from the host. Many tables were available. Will not be our favorite destination in the future.

There are a lot of really interesting little places in this plaza. There is a karate studio, a bead/craft store, a pottery painting place, a salon/spa, a restaurant, childcare facility, home care facility, music store, a craft/art studio, and a lot more. It seems very artsy and there is beautiful rustic feeling to it. Ample parking.

Love, Love, Love the Watch Factory Restaurant. The waitstaff are the utmost professionals. The food by Chef Marcus is sublime. There is no speed eating here as the goal is NOT to turn over seats as quickly as possible. Each course is served with time in between to digest your food, sip your wine or beer and enjoy the company.

The server made this visit amazing. Wifey and I went just to have dessert, but the waitress found a wine to go with it and made sure we had the best dessert they had. Mousse is amazing, I highly recommend you try it. This place earned its 5 on this dessert alone, cant wait to have appetizers and entre.

Excellent food and 6 star service! Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Wonderful selection of Austrian favorites and classic steaks with delicious sauces to enhance. Beers and wines to complement, perfectly prepared veggies, spaetzle, and potato pancakes. Well be back.

Delicious! This is a place you go when you want to take your time and enjoy a night out, the food will take a little longer, because its being prepared fresh, they arent trying to get you in and out, service was good, friendly waitress, we had a really great experience
