Cafe Rio has surpassed Qdoba, Chipotle, and yes - even Illegal Petes in my book! Although I will still visit IPs! The atmosphere is fresh & warm, especially compared to the cold industrial look we see in places like Chipotle. Its colorful & vibrant and matches the style of food very well. The staff is SUPER friendly. Its easy to understand why they were voted best on customer service out of hundreds of restaurants. They always chat and joke with my daughter, and have smiles on their faces. They even offer FREE quesadillas for kids - which is SO great! Finally on to the FOOD! Its fresh & delicious. You cant get tortillas like that anywhere else in Colorado, they make them right there in front of you, and theyre so good. The steak isnt at all grissly (Im looking at YOU, Qdoba!) and the items are all fresh. I do have to say - the hot salsa is NOT hot. If you like it spicey you might have to add some hot sauce. I guess thats what we get since Cafe Rio is from Utah and not New Mexico, right? I highly recommend the steak burrito, its delicious and HUGE. So although its pricier for this type of restaurant ($7.50) you will always have some left over for another meal/snack later. Another wonderful entree is the Sweet Pork Barbacoa Salad - its amazing! I recommend it without the dressing they offer, its amazing on its own. I hope this place catches on and we get more locations here in Denver! I really doubt theyll have a problem with growth, however, its such a wonderful restaurant all the way around.

The food is good, most of the staff seems good, but theres a guy working on the weekends who seems like he cant be bothered to do his job correctly. He might be the manager or assistant manager, I dont know. Of the 5 or 6 times Ive been a customer, Ive seen him twice. Both times, he didnt bother to let the cheese melt on the nachos I ordered. He literally reached into the oven and yanked the nachos off the conveyor belt before they were fully heated up, saving him 10 whole seconds. I dont mind paying 10 bucks for a plate of nachos, if theyre done correctly. But I felt ripped off the last couple of times. Im on the fence about returning as a customer. The rest of the staff has been courteous and the food is good when prepared properly.

I have to be honest the service at this particular location has been a little bit disappointing. My friend and I went in there and both ordered steak burritos and they said it would be about 10 minutes before more steak was ready. So I went ahead and ordered my burrito and waited. Finally about 15 minutes later the steak was ready and they started making my burrito but they were not paying attention and I watched my burrito fall off the end of the oven. They made me another one but didnt get so much as an apology for the delay. The food here is very good but the staff and management needs a little work because this is not the first time Ive had issues at this location.

Not worth a trip. I had high hopes for this place, but I was disappointed with it. I wont get the 45 minutes of my life or the $20 back, which is unfortunate. I wanted to like it, but I wont be returning. My cheese enchiladas werent warm enough (the cheese wasnt even melted) and the hottest sauce choice wasnt hot at all. Also, the restaurant was crowded and the seating was cramped, so I also felt uncomfortable the entire time I was there. I sat at a table that was bolted to the floor so I couldnt really move my chair or the table into a more comfortable position. Im 60 140lbs. I hate to write bad reviews.

I used to really like Cafe Rio but recently theyve gone down hill. Theyve been skimping on the meat lately as well. That might sound ridiculous, but when youre paying $8 a burrito, you expect it to be more than a pinch of chicken and all rice and beans. They gave us 1/3 of the meat as normal, the staff seems very unmotivated and very uncaring about their customers. Theyll lost our business. Too many good restaurants in Denver to waste anymore money here.

$8 for a chicken quesadilla- which by the way was the greasiest quesadilla I have ever seen/ eaten in my entire life. Gross. We went here for lunch one day because people told us it was "amazing". I will stick to Chipotle. My husband enjoyed whatever he got- I forget what it was, maybe a burrito of some sort? We both decided it wasnt that great overall. There was no one in there, maybe that should have been a sign.

I love the sweet barbacoa in any of the meals, tacos, burritos, salads, or tamales. Tuesdays are $5 tacos, Thursdays special is tamales, theres a special for every day. They have cherry Coke, my favorite, as well as some interesting fruit drinks. My only complaint is that they really start closing up 30 to 40 minutes before closing time so things are not as available and you feel rushed.

The food is good tasting. But not sure how well its cooked. The past two times Ive eaten there, I got sick a few hours after. The service is so so. The guy who makes my food is stoned faced, mumbles and acts annoyed when you ask him to please repeat himself when you cant hear what he is asking you. However, the girl who works the register always has a smile and is pleasant to deal with.

On most occasions this would easily be four stars but this time, they were out of steak! The crew was disorganized and almost lazy. When we walked in, it was not long before several more followed and only one person working the line, quickly became overwhelmed. She was asking for help in between orders and no one responded. There was one person eating and everyone else was in the back.

Its very hard to find a chain restaurant with food that tastes like it came from a high quality Mexican kitchen. For $15 you get more food than you can eat, some great drink choices, and probably the best key lime pie youve ever had. Plus theyre open a little later than almost every other fast casual joint. Seriously, I love this place so much. Im hungry just writing this review.

I think the opinion of this place is up to personal taste. I love the flavors here. Other places like Qudoba, Chipotle, and Costa VIta dont have the distinct flavor I crave. My favorite by far is their salads. They are fresh, full of texture, and I love their tortillas! :) The atmosphere is fun and I would drive the 30 minutes to it at any time. :)

Terrible place left my phone there for a few minutes and one of the staff stole it from the lost and found. Tracked my phone and made a scene to get it back. Thiefs at this business, management didnt even care they had untrust worthy people working there. Who knows what else they do to customers, could be stealing your cc info for all you know.

I am from Utah and in Utah I love cafe rio. But this one is short on serving sizes. When I order a pork burrito I dont want a rice and bean burrito. At this location every time I go the burrito has very little meat compared to rice or beans. Also in Utah I am not charged for sour cream or guacamole and here it is a additional dollar for each.
