Nice tucked away restaurant that seemed to know how to make a good burger. Unfortunately, the kitchen staff was unaware of it and the staff didnt have a clue as to what was going on. My table order the mushroom swiss burger (med-well buffalo), the bacon cheese burger (mid-rare elk) along with nachos and two beers. The waitress that my table had never set the table with silverwear and didnt know most of what was on the food and drink menu. The nachos came out with dry cheese, indication that they had been sitting under the heat lamp for some time about twenty minutes after ordering. She even forgot what we order and came back and asked us again. They were poor at best. The two hamburgers came out about 10 minutes later. The plates hot, the bun hard, and the garish looking better than the food. The fires were warm and didnt look too appealing to be honest. The swish mushroom burger set the least amount of time under the heat lamp and was dry and flavorless also with the same dry hard cheese for nachos had. The bacon cheeseburger came back on a scorching hot plate and the burger was raw (cold) in the center. I asked for a new one and 2 minutes later I received another one that was well done, thinner patty, also lacking everything that it claims to have. I told the manager that I want a NEW one, not someone else and he said, "Im used to getting verbal abuse." no verbal abuse, Im telling you that your cooks cant make a hamburger. The third attempt the "head chef" came back with the manager and told me that "the other one had been sitting under the heat lamp for too long thats why ot was more cooked." After eating me delicious burger over and hour and thirty minutes after arriving, the business still insisted on my pay for my burger. Never offering a apology of the horrible service that my table received. The waitress came by 4 times (minus table cleaning and checks) in the two hours we spent at the restaurant. It took her twenty minutes to grab our checks, one minute to ringing up, and fifteen minutes to clean off our table. By far the worst customer service bad food that I have had in Estes park. Go to the burger joint next door. They know how to cook (and not make someone horribly Ill by giving them raw food) and you get more bang for your buck. My table, including myself, have had stomach pains since eating lunch at the restaurant and driving back the 110miles we traveled because we all became Ill from the food. The restaurant is an insult with the prices, mediocre customer service and horrible food, to anyone who cooks professionally, like myself, for a living. It is unfortunate, but you cant win em all.

For most of us, the food was either pretty good or really good. However, one of our party ordered a steak ($27) cooked medium. It came out just under well done. When this was mentioned to our waiter, he didn't respond as one would think in a restaurant with a "guarantee" such as the one the Wapiti touts. But, when the waiter shrugged it off, the person just kind of went with it... Also when we received our check, and after some double checking once we were back at our hotel, they did not charge the tip correctly (we'll ignore the fact that they split our party into two groups - they were busy...) but, it was more than it should have been. I checked reviews before we went, and they were overall good. It was really disappointing to be one of the not so good ones. But, I would suggest if you go to stick with the items that the reviewers 'say' are good- burgers, sandwiches, salads... The burrito with hot green chile sauce was good - but if you want a steak or something other than "pub food" don't waste your time here. The person working the bar (manager/owner? Not sure) was kind of rude about the tip thing when the issue was first noticed, and blamed it on the computer. He did give the person in our party a refund of $3.00 for the "tip" and made a very loud point about how it was just taking the money away from the waiter (who did a great job). That point might have been a good time to mention the steak was incredibly overdone, but as he reiterated, it would have taken too long for them to recook a steak so he just left that alone. Overall, it was a disappointing evening. If you go I hope you have a better time than we did. While the food was pretty good

Decent service. Awful food. Bummer time. I went there with my family over the weekend, and rarely can I recall a time when 4 different people ordered 4 vastly different entrees and they were all bad. It was one of the few times I can remember actually being embarrassed for taking my family somewhere. The salad was basically the stuff that comes on a fast food burger. The fish was overcooked, so dry that is was barely edible. I tried the "famous" cowboy pasta thing and, when it came out, I was astonished that a serious adult would put such a thing on a real restaurant menu. It was basically the kind of thing that a desperate college kid would come up with when the pantry gets low and they are too lazy to go to the grocery store: chop up some chicken and bell peppers, cook whatever random box pasta you have left over, mix together a few different bottled sauces and call it done. Just like the desperate dorm room chow, if you dump enough salt & pepper on it, you can choke most of it down, be glad youre no longer hungry and wash your hands of the whole sorry affair...but you feel pretty dumb paying a proper restaurant entree price for it.

No. Just no. I hate leaving bad reviews for local establishments but I just can not tell others about my bad experience. My family and I came here on a Sudnay afternoon while on vacation. It had decent reviews and it had a pretty fool proof menu. It took 15 minutes to get our drinks. Which they didnt have root beer anymore. No big deal but then We got 2 "giant" soft pretzels. It was so hard and the cheese was so cold I sent it back. It tasted freezer burnt and was a normal pretzel from a box. The one had BBQ sauce on the plate the waiter said it was grease... It was baked. The food came out 40 minutes later. Our medium burger was 100% well done and the mushrooms were obviously from a can. I know its not a fancy place but it was not good. Another 20 minutes sitting and waiting we had to find our waiter and ask for the check.. 15 minutes later he finally came back. I was so angry we wasted our money on such terrible food and service. I told a few ppl in line waiting they should go elsewhere. I suggest you do the same as well. Maybe the good reviews are ppl that came in after they visited the cannibas shop...

Great service and great time. We went there at 7pm on Christmas eve. The decor was OK. The waiter was great and funny. He got us everything we asked for and more. My wife had the "Salmon Sandwich" special, and I got the "Big Daddy Fire Burger". They were both great and we had no complaints. I also ordered the "Grim Brothers Porter" beer which was dark and rich. We also ordered the "Colorado Nachos" which are HUGE, and very tasty. They also include jalapenos which give it a decent kick if your not use to it. We split the nachos between the four of us and were pretty full. The kids ordered spaghetti which they seem to like. At $75 the bill was not exactly cheap, but I can say that I did not mind paying it at all. We had a good experience here, so definitely give it a try. From what I understand this place has changed hands sometime in the past, so if you tried it before and had a bad experience, you may want to give it another chance. KC from Austin, TX
