This trip was the second time Ive been to Alchemy. I remembered from the first time they have an eclectic menu + well-crafted cocktails; that hasnt changed. Located in Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs, Colorado this establishment contradicts a lot of the negative preconceptions of Colorado Springs. This is more like a place you would find in Boulder. After the Colorado Springs pridefest, we decided to beat the heat and have a nice lunch in their shaded back yard patio. The patio had more of a hippie ambiance, than a pub, but was still fun. Its a little strange that customers have to walk through the kitchen and pass an office to get to the back patio. It seems like this is something new that they are still working through. Drinks: I had the Clover Club, made with egg whites and raspberries. Jeff had The Alchemist, which was a more sophisticated whiskey based drink. Travis had absinthe. He ordered it "cold" which I thought was odd, but he explained that they also serve warm absinthe here. Food: trying to be a little more healthy, I chose the emerald pea soup. The soup came with a beautiful presentation, including edible flowers, creme fraiche, and was poured out of a little tea pot. The brightness of the fresh peas was great for a summer afternoon. For my entree, I actually selected something from the appetizer menu - the honey lavender smoked salmon and pesto with pita wedges. The flavors were not as extreme as the title implies, none the less it was very tasty. Bob also had a couple of appetizers which were the hummus made of a fresh pea puree, and a Caprese salad. Jeff tried the Irish onion soup. This is a basic French onion soup, but with rye bread. Travis got the garden wrap. The atmosphere was pretty laid-back. I could see at night time this place might be a little more hoppin. Its always a fun time in Old Colorado City.

Reading all the raves about Alchemy had Hubby and I longing to visit and indulge... Then, we browsed their website and Facebook and were SUPER excited to try their exciting menu! Imagine our immense disappointment when upon showing up on 03/14, we discovered - they were running a special menu for Saint Patricks week. This menu was printed on paper and quite frankly extremely disappointing - I think it was 12 items or less... We were quite frankly, very frustrated! This was supposed to be more than a bar - but now it was just offering bar food (plus corned beef and cabbage) but NONE of the super delicious delicacies we were energized to sample! We just had to leave, our Hubby Steak Appreciation Day completely let down by this establishment. We might return to give them another chance, but quite frankly considering what a headache everything in OCC is... probably not.

My wife and I ate there last night. The potato pancakes tasted like they had 1/2 cup of salt in them. We asked the server about it, she check with the kitchen and said the chef then, tried them and agreed that they we extra salty. We were offered no meal comps, dessert or anything and we did not even got a real apology from the waitress or the chef. Cant believe the horrible service, and the rest of the food was not that great. Dont waste your time with this place. This place left a bad taste in my mouth not just literally, but figuratively as well (my mouth tasted like salt for 1/2 hour after i left).

Food was decent but overpriced, drinks were a dollar up for typical local dive drinks. They try with the food, but it falls a bit short...especially when you get the grand tour through the prep area to get to the backyard. The kitchen seemed surprised to see us back there, even though its the only route back. Drinks were decent if undersized...until the bartender lit up a cig in front of us. I bartend and know the need for nicotine, but you couldnt even take it to the alley? All in all, theres a lot to be desired, especially if you want to be a Springs destination.

My mistake i spose. Ordered the traditional shepards pie, now i know it consists of 2 scoops of mashed potatoes with a scoop of gravy over it. $10. Come on. I took 3 bites and my server was able to point out that "half of it was gone", i requested if i could trade it out for something with more food and i got a Nope, you already had some". So most expensive mashed potatoes ive ever ordered. That being said it was tasty. I dont think im going back, certainly not on my dime. Just not worth paying those prices for the experience.

Decent beer options, eh cocktails, pretty good food. Theres Jameson on draft. The ambiance here tends to be really solid. I recommend this place. Update: Gave an extra star. This place is open until 2:00 every night, never closes early, has great service industry deals, and the cocktail menu has taken a turn for the better. Just brushing over the menu makes clear that quality has caught up to affordability in the cocktail department. Tyler the (new?) bartender was great tonight.

I went here tonight for my birthday because it got good reviews. Now, Im not really sure why... We got the pretzel appetizer, their Philly with fries, and the flour-less cake. The pretzels were hard as a rock, the Philly was extremely salty and the fries were very thick cut and because of this, they were raw in the middle, and I couldnt even get my fork through the chocolate flour-less cake, it too was hard as a rock. Kinda disappointed since it was my birthday...

Lovely bar staff and rustic setting make Alchemy a chill atmosphere for a drink or pub food. The selection of beers is great, including some local, national and international beers. Theres also a good selection of food and can definitely vouch for the sandwiches (i.e. burgers) although the beef and dumpling soup was too salty. Staff were nice enough to give us a discount. Overall a pleasant experience.

Padded tab. Both times the bill was inflated with drinks not bought, also terrible service. Comically bad. Count your drinks, check your bill! BTW this was the same bartender (younger woman) both times. Good luck! Other options in the area are Shaes, TnBs, and Muffs, Ive been going to them all for 15 years, and none have ever repeatedly tried to steal from me.

I had heard good things about this place and had been wanting to check it out. So I talked a couple of friends into going with me after work for cocktails. We were disappointed. The service was poor. Bad attitudes. Like we were a bother to wait on. I ordered the shepherds pie and it was very good. Were not thinking well be repeat customers.

Great atmosphere, great customer service, Amazing food! I personally recommend the Reuben (Im a Reuben snob) it was stupid good. But a second choice is the alchemy burger. Its enormous. Order it medium rare and go on a magical journey.... Also recreational Mary Jane store within walking distance in case you need an.... "appetite boost"

Great Irish Pub! The service was friendly and fast, but also relaxed and welcoming. The food looked a little pricey on the menu, but it was totally worth it for the quantity and quality. This is a great place for a casual lunch or business meeting. Parking is convenient, and this place is walkable from numerous boutique-style shops.

My son has multiple allergies and I come here to get him carryout burgers and fries. The burgers smell and tastes just like steak and the fries are delicious - he loves them. I like the friendly welcome and authentic interior and count this as a favourite eatery in Colorado Springs. Highly recommend!
