I have been to the Ale House several times trying to make it work. The food is less then ok. There is little to no taste to any of the food that they offer. However, it was my most recent experience with them that influenced me to write this review. I was trying to plan an engagement party. I loved their roof top deck so and thought it would be a great place to have the party. The first time I called I was told that they do not hold parties on the roof top. The second time I called to find out other places they have large parties they did say the roof top was available. I asked for their catering manager to give me a call so we could discuss the options. Along with the message I left all the information about the party. I called for 5 days with no returned phone call even though I was told that Katie the manager was in. On the 6th day called I was told she was out. When she did call me back she asked for all the information I had already asked for. Then in the snottiest attitude she informed me that the Ale House does not though parties on Friday or Sat night. I was floored. When I told her that her other staff and managers told me that they did she informed me that they were not interested. I would not work with the Ale house for all the money in the world. I also would not suggest their food.

My plan was to give 3 stars, but the service made up for the not so great food. One thing that really irritates me at restaurants is when I order my child Mac and cheese and they come out with a bowl of Kraft. Thats disgusting. How hard is it to throw together some milk and cheese and make Mac and cheese from scratch? Then you charge $5 for it? Come on now. My burger, ordered medium, was mid well at best. My husbands fried chicken was tender, but the chicken itself lacked flavor. He did enjoy the spice in the mashed potatoes. Good beer list (obviously). Overall, the food was a 3. The service, on the other hand, brought this place up to 4 stars. Our server (I apologise for now recalling her name) was attentive, but not overbearing. She came at the right times to check on us. She was considerate of the fact we had a young child with us and was accommodating. There was another server who was not ours, but he also was very pleasant, helped pre-bus the table and was friendly. We sat on the roof top. The views were great and worth the not so great food. I cant say well return, but the service deserves a mention for sure.

Weve been to this place twice now and, frankly, we love it. I really cant understand all the negative reviews. The beer selection is excellent and prices are completely in line with what youll pay for craft beers anywhere else. We had a variety of food selections both times we were there and everything was well-prepared and quite tasty. Last night, we had an excellent goat cheese ravioli special, a wonderful salad, great wings, and the outstanding muffaletta sliders: sandwiches with Italian meats and cheeses served with three delicious mustards and olives. We were also especially pleased with our $3 desserts: a very nice strawberry shortcake and an incredibly yummy ale-battered brownie (a brownie doughnut) with vanilla ice cream. Weve paid much more elsewhere for inferior desserts. The service was also good -- they smoothly transitioned us and our appetizers from the bar table where we were waiting to our patio table once it was ready, plus, they nicely accommodated our friends infant with a special sling chair.

To preface this review, this was a take out order on a Monday night. We called at 6:00pm asking for the order to be ready at 6:40pm. Upon arrival to the restaurant at 6:41pm, the hostess said they are just finishing up. I waiting until 6:55pm when I asked how it was going. The hostess responded that it was going well and apparently the order was big (three salads and a sandwich) so it was taking longer. Finally at 7:07pm I got my food (thats right, 27 minutes after I showed - 1hr and 7min after I called in). I suspect what happened was that she forgot to put it in, or someone there didnt think we were coming and told her not to put it in (which if that was the case, take a CC on the phone to guarantee). The hostess was most certainly out to lunch and was not communicating anything. Food was good, service (THE HOSTESS and Management) was bad! Really could have been a good experience if she just communicated and got the good out on time.

Love the food - burgers are great (esp the Southwest). Meatloaf, penne and de-constructed chicken pot pie are all outstanding. Cobb salad is one of the best in Denver. My only complaint is that, post the Breckenridge Brewing sale to Budweiser, theyve started getting rid of the Breck beers (I miss the IPA, which they just ripped off the menu, replacing it not with an Avery or Stone, but something I never even heard of). Worse yet, theyve now jacked almost all the pints up to $8! WTF - thats at least $2-3 more than the myriad of places in the neighborhood. This move will clearly cut down on the number of times I come past Amatos unless Im specifically craving something on their menu. Im not the only one who must have noticed, as I see the crowds are now starting to thin...dramatically! Law of supply & demand guys - lots of places in LoDo / LoHi willing to supply pub food and beer, and for far less than $8 a pint!

We went to this restaurant for lunch with three adults and two kids. Neither of the kids were happy with their orders. They got the burger and the fish & chips. I traded my order of nachos for the burger and thought it was fine. I did however add the guacamole and hot peppers from the Nachos so it may not be the best representative of what my little experienced. The fish was over done and fried to the point of being dry and the breading on the verge of burnt. Both of the adults were happy with their orders another burger and their French dip. I was able to finish off my pulled pork nachos and the pork was cooked well and the nachos held up well under the toppings. The star of the meal was the deep fried brownie sundae. There was a wide selection of beers that we all found a favourite despite wildly different tastes. Our waiter was great and did his best to make up the kids disappointment.

I was there a couple weeks ago and they delivered the wrong beer to me at my table, I ordered a pale and they brought me an amber. I couldnt get the servers attention so I just went up to the bar and asked the bartender for the right beer. After asking me where I was sitting and what I ordered, the bartender informed me that he did in fact pour the right beer and that I was mistaken. I showed him the beer and explained that it doesnt even look like the right beer, he again assured me that I was wrong. We went back and forth for a couple minutes, and the bartender refused to acknowledge that he gave me the wrong beer and he eventually just walked away from me. I dont really plan on ever going back to this place again.
