Searching for a good brunch spot in Aurora, I used the good ‘ol “let’s see what Yelp pulls up” trick to pick a place. I’m glad a did. Yelp was dead on with its through the roof reviews of The French Press. Atmosphere The French Press sits in a unassuming building in a shopping plaza. The interior looks somewhat like a Starbucks, with a counter where all orders are placed and tables scattered throughout. At the heart of it, The French Press is a laid back coffee shop. However, a huge blackboard spanning nearly the entire length of the restaurant spells out to diners the delicious food that they’re cooking up in back. After ordering, we opted for a seat on the small outside patio. Food The French Press does brunch right. I didn’t know what to expect from this place but I was literally blown away by the quality and taste of the food. The French Press has a plethora of different takes on the traditional eggs benedict. Recognizing this must be one of their specialties, I gave the Carnitas Bennies a try – black beans, fried tortilla, mojo sauce, red pepper relish, hollandaise and poached eggs. The Carnitas Bennies came out with a beautiful presentation. Fried tortillas branched out from the center of the dish, almost like spokes, with lots of black beans and pulled pork at the center, topped with two perfectly cooked eggs. The yolks immediately broke and ran throughout the entire dish, giving these non-traditional breakfast ingredients a hint of breakfast flavor. At the suggestion of the staff, I just had to order to the Zucchini Pancakes. Thank you for making me do so! I’d never seen zucchini pancakes on a menu before but I hope I see them again. Aside from being called pancakes, I would have thought I was eating straight up zucchini bread. The pancakes were loaded with zucchini and were very rich. So much so that I didn’t even need to use any butter or syrup – they were perfect as is. Delicious. Service The service was very friendly. In fact, we found ourselves just chatting away with the woman at the counter. The food came out promptly and the staff reflected the laid back, relaxed atmosphere. Value The various types of eggs benedict all hovered around the $10 mark. New York City restaurants take note. What a deal this was! At these prices I should have ordered two! The Verdict When everyone around the table unanimously says they’d come back (and actually considers coming back the next day), you know it’s a winner. Next time I’m in Aurora you better believe I’m going to be stopping at The French Press for breakfast. I highly recommend this restaurant. They’re doing pretty much everything right and it shows in the quality of the food they deliver.

I was very excited to have breakfast here because I read all the hype and reviews. As many of you know, you prepay for the meal. I came in with my cousin for breakfast on a Tuesday morning. I ordered an eggs Benedict with lox, hash browns, and a biscuit. My cousin ordered the steak Benedict. When my food arrived, I took a bite of the Benedict and was immediately disappointed. The lox was missing, the eggs were cold. I took a bite of the hash browns, also cold. I told the waitress that my meal was cold, but she shrugged it off saying the lox is supposed to be cold- EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO LOX. I told her the lox was forgotten and she said she can give it to me on the side. Um, whats not how a lox Benedict is served!!! My cousins steak and Benedict was also cold. We did not want to make a scene so we kept calm. After informing her about our cold meal, she WALKED AWAY. She did not even OFFER to compensate us or make it right. I was so infuriated about the service, I couldnt believe the level of unprofessional behavior, and careless service. How do you just walk away???? Needless to say I will never be back!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing like the French Press in Belmar. The positives, the food is four stars. The negatives. We came here to eat brunch and none of the tables were clean. We had to clean them ourselves. One lady took the plates away from one table then continued to proceed with her things in the back, such as roll silverware than cleaning the table. At least 7 minutes rolled by and a gentleman customer started cleaning, then that very same woman come over to clean the table. The French press issues. I dont think this place knows the difference between a French press and drip because they are placed in the same category. They state that they perform the French press in the back then transfer the coffee to the pneumatic pump coffee dispensers. We ordered a French press but they claim they do not have enough to go around. So why is it on the blackboard to offer? The menu is smaller compared to the Belmar.

What word can I use to describe the toasted chipotle cheddar biscuits? Delectable? Hmm, perhaps. Scrumptious? Also a good option. But I believe the word Im looking for is amaze-balls! Plus, they smother them in chorizo gravy. I was in heaven and ready for a nap all at the same time. Mostly because I couldnt physically stop myself from eating them, despite the fact that I was full. Then there was the bacon. Oh sweet baby Jesus, the bacon. Thick, crispy, and I mean crispy! A girl I work with is the one who ordered food from here and I am SO glad I jumped on board. Shes a regular and says the bacon is always on point. I had a bite of her huevos rancheros and it was really good too. I will most definitely be ordering from here again. Though Im not sure Ill be able to branch out and try anything other than the biscuits. Why would I bother when Ive already found gravy covered biscuit heaven.

In this Google entry is states that the restaurant is French. There are only two French things about it 1) It serves what they describe as Croissant, 2) There is "French" in the words "French Toast". We did take out a couple of chocolate croissant from the restaurant. Thinking they were a French restaurant, as advertised, I asked for Pan Au Chocolat which they did not understand. The croissant was like a stale cake. There was like a whole chocolate bar on the inside of the croissant. The chocolate decoration on the outside was wet, and in fact remained wet until the next day - really bizarre!! Dont get your croissant here, they serve better in Starbucks and they understand was Pan au Chocolate means. I cannot attest to their other food items, which are American, not French, however our friends do love the place...but Im not sure I want to go back to have another go.

4.5 stars if youre more about the food and the bang for your buck than ambiance and frills, the french press should be your go-to brunch spot. most menu items are under $10 and even the specialty lattes are reasonably priced. everything ive had has been pretty good. the sterlings sweet cheddar biscuits are unique and the portion size is massive. its definitely two meals in one. ive also tried the crab bennie, which wasnt as impressive, but still not bad, especially for the price. lattes are yum! and the zucchini pistachio pancakes is one of my favorite items. its super fluffy and the crack butter that it comes with is out of this world! im always torn between going for sweet vs. savory for brunch, so you can go for a savory entree and order pancakes on the side for $1 each! best of both worlds. :)
