Located in a mall area, we were excited to find an L&L in Denver of all places. With L&L being one of our favorite chains in Hawaii, we had to give it a try. From the outside, the restaurant looks as nice as all of the other stores in the outdoor shopping area. On the inside, the restaurant doesnt have too much space and it can be difficult to seat a party of more than 4 people if its during a peak time. The menu has many of the same basic items that youll find at any L&L and the food is just as good. The Chicken Katsu was on point but the BBQ Chicken tasted slightly different from what we had in Hawaii. Not a bad different, just not the same. The regular size plates will more than fill you up, and they dont skimp on the entree. The macaroni salad, one of my favorites, is the perfect compliment to whatever entree you decide to order. My only real complaint with this particular location was that service was a little slow, and they dont do a great job at wiping down the tables after customers leave. We sat at dirty tables with the table cleaning rag still sitting on it, and had to notify the staff to please wipe down the table for us. Its still not a deal breaker though, since the food is pretty good for the price you pay.

As a fellow business owner in the area, I have to say that this places is horrible. Ive been going there for many years now, and I can soundly say, while the food may be slightly above average, that staff there are horrendous. Its to the point that I HATE going. All, but one of the employees have the personality of a rabid coyote. The places hygiene is equivalent to a run down motel in your standard B horror movie. Their customer service is also unforgivable, they are rude, robotic, and if any of you actually pay attention, they cut the portions of the food depending what time of day you comes. That is a back stab to customers everywhere. Ive documented this, and have brought it up to the owner many times . There food isnt good enough for them to be unethical. Ohhh, and last little bit, they keep the phone off the hook multiple times throughout the day just not to take orders.... and no Im not just calling at peak hours. Again, this is years of horrible services.

As far as the food goes I give 5 stars. The food is always absolutely delicious. Good sized portions for your money. Always warm. Love the music, really makes me feel at home. The only complaint I have is one of the cashiers. She is a bit older than some of the other cashiers that have helped me. She is really rude both on the phone and in person. I understand that your business is going to be booming regardless of how you treat customers because you are the best Hawaiian BBQ place in Colorado, But its not a good look for the business. I cant even complain about how long it takes because I undertand that its pretty much alwasy busy, and even the minimal seating isnt an issue. Its just the rudeness of that empolyee. Us islanders are raised to be kind to everyone.

Went today because a friend highly recommended it, got the teriyaki cheeseburger. Waited almost 15 minutes for the food, only to be told, "sorry, were out of cheese." I was starving, so I decided not to fuss over the difference I paid for the cheese. I took two bites and decided it wasnt worth the calories to finish the burger. The teriyaki was scarce and the meat was questionable - definitely not worth the money I paid. My friend got the Hawaiian BBQ chicken sandwich and it hardly had any meat on it. I went back to the store to complain, but the line was out the door and didnt feel like waiting 20 minutes to tell them I was unhappy (like I said, I was starving!). We promptly walked down to Fatburger and ate there instead.

The place is a lot dirtier than I remember. I always came here because of their Malasadas and I just found out that they dont sell them anymore! That was a huge bonus for their business. So Im going to look for something closer to me. The lady that took my order was juggling her baby in her arms & trying to take orders. The other lady that was trying to fill the soda machine, dropped them all over & just seem overwhelmed. She went behind the counter to take orders for a moment, atleast until the other woman gave her the child to hold. Theres too much going on here now. They dont sell certain things now & I hear they are always running out of stuff.

Food is a little different from the L&Ls in Hawaii, specifically the teriyaki marinade and the katsu sauce. I usually order Kalbi and Chicken Katsu in Hawaii but there was something different about the kalbi marinade and the katsu sauce. The chicken katsu itself is good but the sauce was ok. The mac salad is good. The portion sizes for the price is great. My husband had the saimin with spam. The spam was literally one sliced one inch thick chunk of spam which was a surprise. Usually, spam is cut up into pieces and added to the saimin. Weve been here 3x at different times during the day and the service at the counter is always good and pretty quick.

Ive been coming to this location on and off for about 10 years now and it pains me to say that this location has really gone down hill. This place is always dirty and has no climate control. During winter, you freeze while you eat, and during the summer you sweat up a storm. The wait has become ridiculous...they know their food is popular yet they dont prepare for the crowds. The worst part of all is they always "run out" of something, be it Katsu chicken or macaroni salad. The staff is nice and friendly. But no matter the issues...their food remains one of my favorites and Ill continue to come and endure the pain to savor the food.

It wasnt bad, but Ive had good Hawaiian BBQ, and this wasnt it. I know its normally heavily teryakid and thin, but the ribs and beef were a salty shoe leather. The chicken was reasonable. The price was in line with other Hawaiian BBQ joints, but the quality needs to be a bit better to command a $9 price for a combo plate. Side note: They have a laminated, well formatted sign on a trash can that says, "This trash can is out-of-order." It boggles the mind why they wouldnt have put that energy into fixing or moving the trash can. Definitely worth checking out. If I went back, I would totally take a picture of it.

The food is so tasty, and there are a few ways to prepare each different meat. The main dishes come with rice and macaroni salad. Park behind the building and walk around to get there to avoid the not so fun parking in front of the building. I highly recommend the barbecue chicken and barbecue beef. They have 3 different sizes of the main dishes: bowl ($4.50), mini ($6.50), and regular ($8.50). Going after 7 PM on a weeknight means there is a smaller crowd and the same wait time. Pretty much any earlier time of the day there will be a line at least to the door and every table will be filled.
