I havent had a disappointing lunch in quite a while. However, I had one today after visiting Yuan Palace Mongolian BBQ. When I entered the establishment, the place had an awkward smell and the furniture, wall art, surroundings were mostly dated and/or damaged. The lighting was dull and not in an "romantic setting" type of way. I was taken to my seat and immediately asked what I wanted as far as food etc. Seeing it was the first time I had been there and the waitress had not given me a menu, I politely asked how does the BBQ lunch work and what is the process. Apparently what I was saying was not too important because in the middle of my question, the waitress told me one minute and went to the front and continued to seat other people that were entering. Eventually another waitress came up and explained how their process worked. I went up to the ingredient station to gather the items for the grill and saw all types of raw meat piled up, mixed together and not properly separated. I gathered my items and went to the grill. I watched as the grill attendees put my food on the large flat skillet and began to cook my meal. The problem was that other peoples food were apart of the mix too and not kept separate as you would see at other Mongolian BBQ restaurants. By the time I received my food, I found quite a few extra items that I didnt want or cared for in my plate that came from other peoples selections. If I did not want a particular item in my diet or had an allergy I may have been in a lot of trouble. Despite putting their sauces on the food, the meal tasted bland and basic, the rice also appeared to be sitting around for a while and the overall meal was not worth the $9.90 price tag. I joined Google+ just to make this review and let others know of what to possibly expect. Good luck... you have been warned.

If I could give zero stars I would. Thats how terrible my recent experience was at Yuan Palace. Ive dined here many times before and will never go back. I was there for lunch with my cousin who came with her three year old child. We prepared two Mongolian stir fry dishes and grabbed an extra empty bowl to share food with the toddler. Because we had three bowls, they charged us for three stir fries even though the toddler didnt eat a single bite. When we questioned this, they replied by saying that children were not allowed to eat there. Perhaps this was lost in translation, but offensive regardless. Later when we asked for two to-go boxes we were told we could only have one and the other box would be an additional $1. We were obviously very confused by this and explained that there are two adults eating and therefore we should be allowed at least two to-go boxes. They began to lecture us on how we filled out bowls too high and thats why were only allowed one box. Whaaaat??? That was simply not true and if so, why is it up to the staff to determine how much we should eat and how much we shouldnt eat from the food filling our bowls? It just didnt make sense. Upon leaving the establishment, we paid (for 3) and the staff member asked how everything was. When we told her that we didnt have the best experience, she began to lecture us on the same thing all over again. She didnt appear apologetic in anyway. I will never go back and I will never recommend any one dine here. Its a shame because it was a decent lunch spot.

Worst experience Ive had at a restaurant EVER! I was under the impression that the buffet was all you could eat, but no one told us that it wasnt. So I got a small first bowl thinking I could go back for seconds, but none of the staff told us it cost almost $5 for each bowl after the first one. They also didnt tell us we got complementary hot tea either so I ended up ordering a drink I didnt need or want. Plus, the buffet selection was very limited and their soup is terrible. I couldnt even finish my soup it was so bad. I left hungry and furious. Ive never had such a bad experience and their only apology was taking off the drink I ordered from our bill and telling us they had signs on the buffet that you only get one free bowl. To bad the sign says one bowl at a time not only one bowl for lunch. Biggest waste of $20 in my life! Maybe if the staff wouldve communicated better I wouldve had a better time but now I will for sure never return. If youre smart dont go here for lunch! How you stay in business ripping people off is beyond me.

First off they POINTED us to our table, then we had to ask how the menu worked, being that it was all you can eat or pick from the menu. When we went up to the line we took our plates and the men at the grill yelled across the restaurant "NO BOWL". Everyone in the restaurant stared at us as well fumbled our way through the very small selection of veggies and meat that was frozen and all looked the same when cooked. The mushrooms were being re-stocked from a can, the choice of sauces consisted of garlic, ginger and oil, and the supposed waiting area was way to small for us all to wait for our food to be prepared. I am very satisfied with the wait staff as they were very polite and good about refills and service, but that was not worth the $65 we paid for all 4 of us.

Yum! We were looking for a good Mongolian BBQ in the area, since we are from out-of-state, and I think weve found one. The food was delicious and the service was great. Our kids (11 & 13 years old) had not had Mongolian BBQ before, and they both loved it (even our less-adventurous eater). Some other reviewers described it as dirty and dingy inside. I felt like it was typical of most of the good Asian restaurants Ive been to (small, darker, different decor). My only complaint is that there is only 1 sauce recipe posted for the BBQ. The restaurant we went to in TX had many different sauce recipes listed (sweet, spicey, etc). However, it wouldnt be hard to experiment and find your favorite, and the recipe listed was quite good (I recommend adding at least some spice it).

Its dingy, theres food on the floor, and the waitresses speak pidgin English. And I love it!! Unlike the brightly lit BD chain with the similar name, this one feels so authentic that youll forget youre in the US. And the troughs of uncooked food that you pile high upon your bowl only to be mixed around with other dishes on the kettle grill just makes it that much more fun and adventurous. And at least a couple of the waitresses have worked there for the 10 years Ive been going, which makes me feel like Im visiting family. If you are a neat freak or a food snob, turn away. Frankly, Im surprised this place passes health inspections. But if you are carefree and want tasty, filling food, enjoy yourself at Yuans.

Love this place! Same basic layout as a typical Mongolian grill place, with ingredients and sauces lined up for you to pick as you wish, and they stir fry it up on a large, heated plate. Their selection of ingredients is not as extensive as some commercial chains like Hu Hot, but its still a good variety. Each BBQ order comes with tasty soup and these amazing rice flat bread things that you can use to make wraps. Jasmine tea is served with all meals, which was what finally got me into tea. Have been coming here for almost a decade and a lot of the same folks are still around, pleasant decor and atmosphere. Still manage to find excuses to come here even though I love in Loveland :)
