I like a splash (less than a tablespoon) of heavy (whipping) cream in my iced coffee. EVERY coffee house I go to, chain or local, gladly provides this for me. Until today. After charging me $3.00 for a small iced coffee thats priced at $1.95 at Starbucks and Petes, Pacific Bay Coffee Company refused, unless I would pay an additional $0.50. (The rest of their prices are similarly high, in many cases about a dollar more than a comparable item at Starbucks, Petes, or two of my favorites, Peaberry in Rockridge, Oakland, and San Francisco Coffee Roasting Company.) The difference in product cost between equal amounts of half & half and whipping cream is about 0.7 of a penny. Since I used MORE half & half to approximate the effect of a tiny amount of whipping cream, the difference in cost is wiped out, or exceeded. By the way, their iced coffee is lousy - not even as good as Starbucks, which I consider mediocre. These jerks saved at most 0.7 of a penny, but pissed me off, inducing me to never come back and write this negative review.

Ahhhh! Really want to give this place 5 stars but been here twice recently and both time my cappuccino has been tasting like a latte. Im not a big fan of too much milk so capp lacked the strong espresso taste. I dont know if its the beans, or just a light roast or the machine....something is not right with the espresso. I gauge good coffee shop by the size of their cappuccino cup and latte art. This place has both going so not sure. Coffee was light but smooth and baristas take their time to make your drinks. Simple latte art but its there ;)

Im a sucker for good coffee. I love supporting local establishments and not feeding the Starbucks monster when I can help it. They have a science-experiment-looking contraption that makes cold brew iced coffee. The effects of said brew are delightful- ranging somewhere in between a very strong cup and what I imagine cocaine to feel like. If a cafe can make a great iced coffee (which I drink black: very smooth, not bitter) they can make a great anything. Im a regular, but they havent given me a medal or punchcard or anything yet. Lame.

9/13/15 Came in with my husband back in July on our wedding anniversary. I had just taken him to an appointment at Kaiser and it was early in the morning. Instead of a friendly pick-me-up stop for us, we both felt like the employees were the ones who needed a morning coffee more than we did. Really not a friendly vibe. Coffee wasnt bad but it was almost $8 for both our drinks and I only had a black drip coffee. For that price at least give me a smile and dont act impatient when I ask to use honey in my coffee instead of sugar.

Wonderful coffee. Ive been going to Pacific Bay Coffee for years and they always have quality coffee that is medium roasted so you can taste the origins of the coffee and not "burnt" flavor like other big-name coffee shops. They are always innovating and teaching me more about coffee and how to brew coffee in different ways. Pacific Bay has won Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for their roasting of various beans at the Compak Golden Been (Northern America) roasters competition - So youve got to give them a try!

Excellent (single origin and blends, occasional rarities too) bean selection fresh roasted weekly or more often in small batches, stellar espresso drinks made to order. They also have a selection of non-coffee beverages as well. Pastries are on the less-sweet side, which pairs well with their short pull espresso drinks. Parking may be problematic, so plan ahead. Homey atmosphere, good coffee, non pretentious. Lots of local regulars.

Im giving them 5 stars for the quality of their drinks and their down-to-earth, genuinely nice attitudes. Admittedly, Ive only had 1 type of espresso beverage here, and only a couple times - and I have yet to try their beans (I am taking home my 1st 1/2 pound of coffee today), what I have experienced inspires confidence that my future visits will be just as good. Overall the best coffee shop Ive been to in a *long* time.

We stopped here on our way home from Tahoe for coffee and a potty break. There lattes were very nice and I always appreciate when a local shop roasts their own beans. They also have a good variety of specialty drinks. I had an iced chai latte which was very nice. Their parking lot is small and a little hard to get into but the shop is nice and clean and the owner and sraff were very nice and welcoming.

Easily the best coffee place in the East Bay (if not the entire Bay Area), Pacific Bay micro-roasts its own coffees, with a good selection of excellent organic and fair trade varietals. Nice ambiance, popular drinks, convenient location, friendly staff, and free Wi-Fi high speed Internet. Good independents CAN succeed against the Starbucks and Peets juggernauts! Highly recommended.

I love the coffee here! Dont come in expecting your sugary, fruity, chocolatey dessert-pretending-to-be-coffee. Where these guys shine is single origin coffee served for you, handmade, one cup at a time. Dont get me wrong, they are indeed capable of dessert drinks, but thats not where their passions are... Try the cold-brewed coffee, a delightfully smooth cup of delicious.

Wow! An awesome coffee shop! They are serious about their coffee, and really pull out all the stops to ensure you have the perfect cup. Came here every morning during a week-long business trip and was blown away every day. A great place to come and experiment, or try new flavors based on some expert suggestions. Give this place a try, and you will NOT be disapointed!

The people here are nice and the shop has a cluttered but clean look to it. Bathroom was spotless and the menu was typical of a family owned shop. The drinks are good and flavorful but slightly on the watery side. The pastries in the afternoon taste just as good and fresh as they do in the morning. Overall, Id definitely get coffe here again.

Outstanding coffee roastery. If you seek standout coffee beans this is definitely worth the drive. A genuinely high end and refined bean variety, roasted and prepared to perfection. This is what proper coffee tastes like. And for the Aussie and Kiwis who are notoriously hard to please, look no further. Flat white is a standard menu option.

What a trashy establishment. The owner (or who I assume is the owner...a weird, little man with a frown) seems to always be glaring at you with disdain. I was the last one in there before they closed, and they made an employee dig out the dirty towels and use them to wipe down the floors. Top quality there. Coffee was bland too.

We got really great advice and samples our first time in. Brazil is delicious!! They also freely gave advice on grinders. Since then, weve bought half a dozen varieties and had interesting conversations about roasting and where the beans come from. They always offer a free cup of coffee while Im waiting for my beans.

Off the downtown path but worth the effort to get here. They select their coffee from estate labeled stock and do their own roasting. The espresso is Imo the best in WC. I typically buy my whole bean coffee here. Nicer experience after the recent renovation!

Best organic coffee and organic teas! They even have almond and organic soy milk. They roast their own beans in the front of their store so you can watch! Easily one of the best little coffee shops in the entire SF Bay Area.
