Philz pours the best tasting coffee in the area. Ive been going to nearby Peets for quite a while, but now that Philz is open, I have a new favorite coffee place. No espresso, just fine coffee made one cup at a time. Walk in, select the coffee you want from a wide assortment, and wait a few moments as they grind the beans, place the grounds into the filter, and pour hot water over the grounds. No wimpy coffee here. The roasts are full of flavor. If you like your coffee strong and flavorful, Philz is hard to beat. Note that the price of a cup is equivalent to what you would pay for an espresso drink. This makes sense, give the amount of coffee beans that go into making one flavorful cup. I hope Philz becomes a permanent fixture in Midtown.

A coffee place for people who love good coffee. A friend recommended Philz in San Francisco to me and I mentally added it to my never-ending list of places to visit. I am quite happy to check it off the list and will go out of my way to visit them in the future. The coffee is brewed one cup at a time (as patrons are warned of with plenty of signage) and it is worth it. Prepare yourself to wait, I cant imagine this place has a slow time of the day. I ordered the Iced mint mojito coffee and it was delightful. The mint compliments the bitter of the coffee perfectly. Their menu was intriguing, I cant wait to try something else as well as a baked good. The case was quite tantalizing and required much willpower.

Extremely overrated. It took 20 minutes to wait in line, order, pay, wait again for my coffee, wait again for my bagel. Its like being in a Disney Land line, except the end result is way less satisfying. The bagels are small, and I received mine after customers that were behind me received their bagels. The flavor is meh. The coffee shop does not take names, so with so many customers, it was confusing whose drink/food was whose when people ordered the same things. Not worth the hype or the wait. One redeeming quality is its outdoor sitting area which is nicely shaded and has plenty of space to work, even during the busy hours.

The place has a nice outside area, that cannot be denied. However, the coffee was not great. I usually get a plain unflavored hot latte, one of the basic espresso drinks, and I judge the quality of coffee based on that. My latte was pretty bad. Also, the place was not super friendly. I was waiting for a sandwich, but nobody called me when it was placed on the counter. I found that strange, since I was within clear view of the staff. Finally, the place is not too clean (average), and it does not have enough outlets if you plan to plug in your laptop.

Beautiful, earthy place! Such nice kids working there! It really has that homey, welcoming atmosphere so reminiscent of the original location in the Mission. Some nice places to sit outside under a couple willow trees too. And, yeah, obviously great coffee. Ive noticed that some of the newer locations sometimes dont seem to brew it as well as the original but these guys delivered on the Philz credo. I tried to be a grumpy old man and failed miserably. A pleasant surprise discovery on an otherwise frustrating day. All the thumbzzz!!!

Im just obsessed with this Philz Coffee. Yes, the wait is certainly longer than other locations, but the staff is amazing and it is worth the wait. My favorite coffee by far is Silken Splendor. Its a little pricier, but you can totally taste the difference. I have tried Sooo Good, Tesora, Ambrosia, Canopy of Heaven and New Manhattan as well and all of those are delicious! The baristas are super nice, so I recommend having a chat with them about what you like before you order because they give great recommendations.

Love this place. I work nearby so I go to this location more than other, but as a whole I love Philz as well. This location is a bit smaller so expect a line out the door in the morning. I try to go when its not super busy in the early afternoon. I like half decaf iced coffee and this time the barista made a nice mix of Jacobs and Ethiopian Decaf. They dont do espresso based drinks. You can specify your amount of cream and sugar. If you bring your own cup, you pay the price of a small which is nice.

I like my coffee strong and that is the way they do it, for me - I love the Arabic. Choose a lighter blend for your tastes. They do coffee a cup at a time. Grind the beans, put your mug under the filter and pour in the water. Add a little manufacturing cream, sugar to your taste and your get the best coffee you could ever hope for. Coffee prices run more like specialty drink prices, but considering the amount of beans they use for each cup and that each cup is brewed by hand, the price is fair.

Loved the vibe here! And theres a lot of street parking as well :) If you havent been to Philz before (which I hadnt when I was here for the first time), theres a confusing line for how you order / how you pay. And I was confused about who was ln line and who wasnt. So just a little side note about ordering! I was here on a Saturday morning and it was very chill. A lot of people going in and out. Theres a small parking lot here, but its always full so I would park on the street.

Ive had single cup brew before and it was fine. The one I had here was Philharmonic. I took it black with mint (I dont normally drink straight black, but I wanted to experience the full flavor). It was pretty good black, though I think the mint was a little strong. Its awesome that they use mint off a plant right on the counter. I could definitely support this place (business looks green and hip), but I might need to go a few times to find the perfect coffee for me.

When the weather is nice, this is my favorite spot to get some work done with coffee. The patio has ample seating, great outlet access and lots of natural shade from trees. Additionally, the wifi is fast when its not overwhelmed. And the coffee? Its all hand poured drip coffee. If the blend menu overwhelms you, ask for help. If youre too shy to ask, heres a list of my favorites: - Julies Ultimate - Mocha Tesora - 1/2 Ether 1/2 Red Sea

In a residential Palo Alto neighborhood, this Philzs has a homey, mellow Berkeley cafe neighborhood vibe. Lots of outdoor seating in front and at the side garden. Students, tech workers, lots of people typing away on their laptops, smartphones, and iPads under the trees. During the weekends, families are here. Order line is usually out the front door. Not much indoor seating. Dog friendly. Parking can be tough (tiny lot).

I love Philz coffe. For those of you not in the know: Philz Coffee serves pour-over coffee, focusing on coffee beans that display unique characteristics. There are over 20 flavor profiles with all the flavor coming from the bean, no additives. This is my favorite South Bay location. The lines can be long and the space can be cramped. That said, the coffee makers are the nicest and it has a homey feel that I like.
