I actually like this place better than Wako. My gf and I came here after yelping "katsu" in Torrance, and this restaurant was at the top of the list. Like Wako you crush your own sesame seeds and pour katsu sauce over the crushed sesame seeds, and they have chicken/pork/beef katsu like Wako, but the similarities stop there. There chicken katsu is more tender, and their beef katsu is crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. We ordered the filet katsu and crab croquet gozen, which came with rice, and miso soup. The croquet was also crunchy on the outside and creamy goodness in the inside. It sort of felt like I was eating a clam chowder croquet! You can also order the katsu a la carte. Highly recommended if you like katsu. :)

Popped in for lunch with my wife not knowing what to expect from the dim interior and bizarre easy listening Taylor Swift covers coming from the PA, but wow. Food was fantastic, each of us ordering a different katsu lunch. My wife had the special and it was over the top, with 3 kinds of fermented vegetable, really fantastic rice blend, and sashimi to chase the two different soups. My chicken katsu was perfectly cooked, with the chicken breast juicy, tender, and not at all oily. Beer list is solid, and the ambiance, outside of the ambient Katie Perry covers, is great. Tried to hit this place a few weeks ago and ran into their post-lunch close, so make sure you get in before 2!

I really enjoyed this restaurant. Perfectly crisp tonkatsu with juicy meat on the inside. Its presented in a traditional Japanese fashion, so its not only delicious. Its beautifully plated. Nothing goes better with Japanese food than a crisp cold Japanese lager. The atmosphere is relatively quiet here, even though its a casual restaurant. Its not a place for large groups but for small, more intimate gatherings.

One of the best Katsu places in the Torrance area! Tender and juicy pork cutlet served with tasty traditional Japanese sides. Come here for lunch when its less busy and price is better. Dinner can get pretty crowded and pricing is on the higher side. Atmosphere is intimate and the restaurant is usually filled with families, couples, and business men eating dinner after a long day of work.

The Tonkatsu (Japanese pork chop) is one of the best in Southern California. Its nothing like the regular grilled pork chops that you get in a restaurant. Dont get me wrong I love my grilled pork chops, but Tonkatsu at Kaguras is just so good. Once youve tried it youll be hooked. Service is also very good and the ambiance is nice too. They do have other items on the menu. Hope you enjoy.

Come here to get your katsu-whatever fix. A very intimate setting with all the booths divided by bamboo partitions makes this place a nice date night. The food is also on point and they give you nice huge pieces of chicken katsu. There is this calmness about the place that almost makes me want to whisper to the person I came with but the food was good so no complaints here!

I stop here for lunch on weekends fairly regularly, and I have to say, Im never disappointed. The lunch boxes are great, with all the accoutrement, and everything is delicious (especially the dashi custard). Plus the music is hilarious (listen when youre in there and see what you recognize). Get the pork katsu.

Food is really good, one less star only for the service. I did go during mothers day, so they were probably extra busy, but even after it started getting slow, no one bothered to check up on us unless we called them over. But they were nice. Note: 10% discount if you pay cash. Free parking in back and on street.

They have lunch special on a bit of the pricey side but its bomb ! 2 combo for 14 , 3 combo for 17 . The katsu chicken lunch serves with free range chicken awesome for the price itself. Make sure you get your sesame grinder for your katsu sauce. Itll make your experience a bit more authentic.

Lunch sets here are awesome. Reminds me of lunching in Tokyo. The tonkatsu is thick, juicy, and flavorful. I love the little dishes that accompany your main dish. The miso broiled black cod is pretty good as well. Definitely worth a leisurely weekend lunch visit!

Legit katsu restaurant. Went during the daytime. Service was slow (understaffed) and they were running low on things like cups, but the person i went with said it was all better during dinner. Again, the katsu dishes are awesome.

Wow, the service was terrible. I had to ask for water & napkins (from another waitress because our waiter was nowhere in sight) The food was average. I was there on a weekday. The only good thing is the pleasant atmosphere.

トンカツも美味しいが、塩サケ定食やホッケ定食も日本と変わらない。ぜひおすすめしたい!

You want katsu? This is the spot to check out. It is more expensive than most other places, but the amount of food you get and quality justifies it for me. The tapas are only available during dinner.

The meille feuille pork chop is tender and juicy even after deep fried, I would recommend it over other variations offered. Probably the best pork katsu in LA.

Came here for the first time the other night. If you want a seat early, get there 10-15 minutes before and stand outside. Friendly service and great katsu!

A hidden gem in Torrance. The variants of Katsu (especially the "millefeuille" ones) are tasty and the staff is very friendly.

The service was terrible. The food was strange. No parking lot. No background music. But, BEST gyoza Ive ever had!
