Going there in an hour. So my review is bias because Im hungry for their food. The place looks like an expensive hole in the wall restaurant, so I was intimidated by the decor thinking its an expensive place. NOPE... not expensive at all. Excellent quality!!! I would recommend going for lunch because dinner is a little more pricey. Get the butterfish... its so delicately seared and so naturally buttery... mmmm. Everything in the lunch menu is worth exploring, but I fell in love with one dish and havent tried everything else. Echizen is in my blood.... makes me feel so good just thinking about it.

This is a great izakaya. Big menu but everything ive tried from the agedashi tofu, to shrimp kakiage, kampachi kama, beef tataki, asparagus rolled in beef, chazuke, garlic spinach, tsukemono, whatever, has been tops. Not to mention the sashimi. Prices are more than reasonable for the quality of the food here. And the service is friendly. The only downside is the food may take longer than what some diners are used to, but its not a bad thing so long as youre drinking with good company, which is the function of an izakaya anyway-

Food is semi-authentic given that they have a Japanese cook and a Mexican sidekick. Service is is extremely slow: took them about 30 minutes to serve onigiri, 40 minutes to serve a miso soup with clams and 45 minutes to serve yaki onigiri. When an order of chicken yakitori did not show up one hour later we had to cancel it. Its kinda sad when one has to ask a waitress to give a check in English not in kanji only to find out that she tried to charge us for a glass of wine she never brought.

Excellent food at reasonable prices. I like the vibe of this place. The menu is extensive and the food is cooked with TLC. I was hesitant to write this review and thereby let the secret out (I dont to create more competition for reserving a table!). However, Echizen deserves nothing less than a stellar review.

Authentic Japanese restaurant! Not too many tables inside but very good customer service. The food is wonderful and a good selection of Japanese soju. Highly recommend to try this place out.

The place is terrible during lunch time. Waitress had no time talking abt the menu and took at least 5 breaks before while taking our order for 2 ppl. Horrible service.
