Ive never experience "authentic" thai cuisine before, but I think this is the closest that Ill get while living in Santa Cruz. Even though the wait staff was more than a bit disoriented during our visit, the knowledgeable owners more than made up for it by making good suggestions and being very personable overall. If I could rate the food and the service separately, it would definitely show for Sawasdee. I think that theyre food was excellent. Despite never having authentic thai, I found the food to be very good. My family and I ordered the spring rolls, papaya salad, green curry, halibut curry, seafood delight, and the eggplant and veggie dish and we were not disappointed. Personally, I disliked the seafood delight the most, as it seemed the blandest to me, but otherwise the curries were very aromatic and pleasant. I have had curries that are stronger, but I think that Sawasdee has a good balance of flavors.

I first ate at Sawasdee back when they first opened, was it in 2006 or so? The food used to be quite good back then. In any case, I recently returned to the area and tried them again…twice. While there are plenty of vegetables (as is to be expected in Thai food) and the shrimp was prepared well, there was also a strong taste of salt and obvious MSG. The flavor was reminiscent of the many overly salty low quality Chinese restaurants that are so abundant in the US. With just a couple tweaks, Sawsdee could be good. But at this point, they serve low quality Thai food and its not priced as such.

I recently called in an order to pick up and when I arrived I got my order mixed with a different customer, despite the small inconvenience, the staff quickly put together new dishes and was even nice enough to give a complimentary Thai tea and fresh spring rolls. This isnt a common situation but It showed me Sawasdee cares about their customers and didnt want me leaving with a bad experience and I thank you for that and would recommend this restaurant. By the way the pad ped is delicious, a bit spicy but such good flavor!

I used to live in Aptos and would eat here all the time. I moved away 10 years ago and havent been able to find a Tom Kha soup that even comes close to how good this places is. I dream about it, especially when sick. I was able to visit twice this past month and both times were exactly how I remember. Amazing service, amazing fresh cooked Thai food and beautiful decor.

We go here about once a week - creamy-spicy-mysterious Tom Kah Gai soup (chicken coconut milk)... crispy spicy WOW fried catfish -- and light, refreshing, zingy wide noodles pan fried w chicken (cant remember the Thai name - sorry). They have a nice lunch special including soup for about $7-8. Its all that - and the staff is super friendly! :)

My friend whos kind of food snobby insists that I put a five-star for this. And I thought about it. Its really good, theres nothing at all bad about it. The wait staff was super friendly. It did not blow my mind, and if it did it would have gotten a five star. But it was extremely solid and I cannot complain which is saying quite a bit

Good Thai food, and usually decent service. The owner Bill is usually pretty friendly, but occasionally it feels forced - hey, we all have those days, right? Overall, they do their best to please, and its one of the better Thai restaurants in the area.

Amazing little place. Went to this place after a 6 Mile hike at the land of the medicine Buddha.. Really good Thai food. Tried the spring roll and Tom kha.. Loved the Tom kha soup and Sea food delight. Excellent service.
