Giving one star is generous but there is not an option to give no stars here. I have never written a poor review but feel compelled to help the restaurant improve on many levels. First, upon arriving, there was no one to greet us at the door and we waited awewardly for 4-5 minutes watching others eating. When the host finally came we had a luke greeting. The beet "salad " was just OK. Nothing special. The "Adventure plate" signature sampler appetizer was composed of fried tripe, fried sausage, fried tongue, fried bone marrow, small steak tartare with mayonnaise! It was inedible to eat fried animal fat. We wondered what the chef was trying to achieve. My husband, who is French and has eaten these types of foods many times before, thought is was a plate from a horror movie with Hannibal Lector. And he is one to always finish his plate and never complain to the staff. When the waiter asked how it was, he told him he did not like it. The waiters only response was "really?" and did not apologize nor offer a different dish, which would have been common curtousy. The fried chicken was a huge piece of meat with barely anything on the side but a few onion pieces and herbs. Ive honestly had better at KFC. My husband had the N.Ystrip steak with fried potatoes and fried mushroom that were unrecognizable from each other, over fried and greasy with again a side of mayonaise. My husband felt it was an "adventure" in fried food w mayonnaise. Our visit to Home was a huge disappointment..... awkward unapologetic servicer who seemed eager to have us leave, awkward decor, and overpriced bad food. Our meal was 120$ for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and one glass of wine. We make extra effort to support local businesses as much as possible. We hope this review helps them to improve so they can grow and thrive. Sorry to say we will not return unless some major changes are made at Home.

This place is the pride and joy of Santa Cruz. True farm to table Chef Brad has a humble approach to fine dining. One look at the menu and you can see nothing is waisted the animal is honored in true nose to tail fashion. From the house cured meats to the Bone Marrow or Beef Tongue every part that can be used is in a creative inspiring manner. The flavors bold and rich the ingredients thoughtful and local. I truly feel blessed to live in Santa Cruz when I see the ingredients we have available to us seasonally in the hands of artists like Chef Brad. The menu changes all the time based on the ingredients available which keeps me coming back.

Food offerings were excellent. Especially the pasta dishes. The pork belly was crispy and tender, not chewy. Perfect execution. Ancient grains Fried Chicken was memorable only for its crunch. Unfortunately chicken was underseasoned and dry. Wine offerings also excellent. Back yard garden feels like its namesake: Home. Service was friendly, casual, and comfortable, though slightly unorchestrated for a large group. Overall fantastic place to dine. I especially enjoyed the back yard dining.

Brad Briske is a master of sauce and unique flavor. Everything is expertly seasoned. The HOME menu is ever changing, offering small and big plate options. Some of my favorites so far: Fresh Monterey Bay spot prawns/creamy potato saffron soup. Octopus with escarole, French filet green beans & squid ink. Bone marrow/melted Brie/ tomato caper sauce. Short ribs/ brassicas/ creamy polenta & root vegetables. Octopus/ potato/ green salsa purée. Gnocchi...

Awful service. Overly ambitious, over-salted, over-priced, poorly executed menu. Loud environment. Wading through a clutter of dishes trying to eat in a hurry before the next course is thrown at us. Terrible service. Told the front desk girl/ owner on the way out, and left my number to talk about the embarrasing experience her restaurant was . . . and they didnt bother to call. (Negligent). Wouldnt come back if the meal was free.

The Pork Belly with Squid broth/soup was amazing. The whole Seabass was just OK. The Fried Chicken was not worth it. The location is small (as in a "living room" size, reservations are a must). Tough parking. Overall I may give it another try because I believe the chef has potential and is carving a unique niche in the area. However, for a first impression I still need more convincing to include this location in my rotation.

Pricy but food was excellent, some of the best Santa Cruz has to offer. Octopus was beautifully done, my favorite small plate. Menu changes frequently (but not a complete rewrite). Great for 2-4 people. My wife and I enjoyed the table next to the fireplace. Use GPS to find - it just looks like a residential house from the street.

While the service is good, the prices are $$$$. My gnocchi was flavorless.
