My wife is Japanese. I lived in Japan for 5 years. I know good and bad Japanese food. I dont eat Sushi. When eating at Koi, I ordered their Spicy Tuna Tempura and the Chicken Cutlet. (both excellent and large portions) My wife had one of the Sushi Dinner options. At first, she thought it wouldnt be enough food. As she reached the end of the plate, she was definitely full. The dinner plus a roll or something would leave you with a little to take home for later. She said it was excellent sushi. I trust her judgment on that. Good service, everything was cooked just right... not too much wait time (they werent too busy). We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner. We will be coming back often. New favorite local Japanese...

My wife and I are in LA at least twice a year and we have never failed to stop in at Koi. Even though we visit infrequently, the people who run it know us and tries to get us seated at the bar because they know were going to tell the chef "Omakase!". We always make sure to come on a night where we can be seated with chef Taka or Daigo as both are attentive to our likes and dislikes. Bring sake and dont be afraid to pour a glass for your chef.

I come here every time when I am in Seal Beach. Great little sushi spot! Fish is always fresh and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. I typically get the Brandons roll diced variety of fish over a roll. Their ikura nigiri is always very good, as this not too salty like most places. Be prepared to wait in line.The wait is always worth it though!

Amazing sushi,staff and atmosphere I come here about once every month or so and I always have a great time. The staff is so friendly and kind, I recommend sitting at he the sushi bar but if you cant the table service is just as good. If you enjoy good quality sushi with a friendly at affordable and great atmosphere Koi is the place to go.

I feel like i may not be an accomplished enough sushi lover to really rate this accurately, but, we were expecting more. The rolls were not very flavorful, service took a long time (but everyone was very nice!). The Tasmanian ocean trout was the only highlight of our experience. Also, expensive.

Sashimi was fresh and delightful. The ambiance was wonderful. The nigiri unfiltered sake not the greatest, Id recommend taking it up a notch. The service was friendly but a bit confusing and our orders were forgotten a couple times. Overall its worth a visit

Probably my favorite Japanese restaurant of all time! Traditional Japanese sushi made by actual Japanese guys. The nebayaki udon is the best outside of Japan. The tuna is firm and normally very fresh. Exceptional care taken for service.

For the freshest, most melt in your mouth sushi, Koi is it! I love the simple ambiance and the highly skilled chefs here! Always a pleasure to try whatever they are offering and have never gotten sick here. Go early for best seating!

Really yummy sushi and sashimi. Great wine list and sushi bar service is the best. Diago runs a tight ship. Uni, Long Beach Roll, and the cruchy roll were fantastic tonight; as well as the Shitaki stuffed mushroom(snow crab).

VERY slow service. Not even a busy time. Plan to wait a good while. Food average when it finally arrived. Teriyaki steak had to be returned and recooked.
