This place is highly overrated. The prices are far too high for the quality and portion of dishes. Some in and they show a different side than when you order take out. They do not speak English enough to explain dishes correctly to you. I ordered 2 entrees and spent almost $40. I specifically asked to explain the orange chicken "large pieces" as compared to orange chicken "crispy pieces." Anyone with common sense would think orange chicken is orange chicken and the only difference between the 2 dishes is the size of pieces! Not!! Two totally different dishes, prepared differently, and tasted differently! Stale fried pieces of chicken without any seasonings and a runny yellow colored sauce! The other entree was equally horrible with shrimp overcooked and eggplant so tough couldnt even get fork through. I immediately called them back and told the woman about this. She was defensive, showed no concern or empathy and even had the audacity to claim " I try explain different, you should not try other one." I told her my children were looking forward to the food for dinner. She simply stated she couldnt do anything else and hung up. It was minutes before 10pm and most places were closed. We had left over instead. I was so disappointed for my children. We had ordered from there before and didnt mind few mistakes here and there. This time was bit too much. Customer Service counts and for that they get 0! For price 0! For portion 1 and food quality 0! Will never order from there again!

My family has been going here for 32- years and have never experienced such a terrible experience as we did last night.We were celebrating our parents 57th wedding anniversary,and David,the owner was very rude and loud when we ask him about how we should order.The family style ordering seemed better,but he got agitated and made a scene saying we had to pay full price for a child,because we were at his big table!The food was not as good as usual and his service stunk.His wife tries so hard to please everyone,but he is rude and puts on a facade of being funny and nice.We let him know he ruined our night with his rudeness and will never have our business again.

We love this place! Super friendly staff, when my folks pick up my son from daycare and pick up take out the owner will help my mom carry the food out to the car. The food is amazing, the sauce in their lemon chicken is to die for, it tastes like lemon chiffon. I dont know where the person who gave this one star went, but it sure wasnt Ta Chens! If you want a neighborhood place where they know you by name, this is it.

Awesome chinese food. I dont really like chinese food but my husband loves it. So we ordered from here and the food was really great. Made to order so it was hot. The spring rolls were very good which were on the house after we placed a pretty big order. Sweet and sour chicken was fabulous. I will eat there again. For a whole in the wall place Id give this a 5 star rating.

Service was amazing. The food was great. Best of all is the hospitality. If you ask for it they make sure you get it. I asked for almond cookies at the end of the meal. Not only did they bring us almond cookies at the end of the meal but the manager brought a bag of them to me after we got in our car. Really a wonderful place to go and feel like family.

They have reasonably priced great food and friendly service. We each had the szechwan dinner. It came with hot and sour soup, egg roll, fried shrimp, wrapped chicken, and rice. We tried the orange chicken on recommendation of a friend and the moo shu pork. I like how they put scrambled egg in the rice. Each entree was enough for two.

Ive been coming to Ta Chen for over 10 years. The owners are always happy and energetic when I come in. My wife is always amazed that they recognize me and remember my order, even if I havent been in for over a year. The food is always beyond amazing and theres always enough leftovers to enjoy the next day for a reasonable price.

Were from out of town and were looking for good Chinese food. We saw the reviews for this place and they did not let down!!!! They are some of the nicest people we have ever met and the food was good portions and fair prices. I wish we were staying in California longer, we will look for this place again when we come back ♥️

Red Robin has the best turkey burger. It is a fun place for lunch or dinner and the service is always excellent. The fries are good but also have the option of a side salad with any burger. Great if watching calories. Great if not. Lots of other good menu options. My favorite spot for lunch in Orange County.

We have been coming to Ta Chen for 30 years now. The service at this family run business is always outstanding along with amazing food and a friendly family atmosphere. Give it a try, you wont be unhappy, they go out of there way to make you feel welcome and accomodate each guest.

This may be the strangest little neighborhood Chinese place you will ever visit but the food is good, the owner/host is eccentric, the have take out and prices are reasonable-try it-sometimes hard to park-very small so you might call ahead and see if they have tables available

Great place! Definitely a Chinese restaurant worth going to. The Crab Rangoons are so awesome we just had to ask for seconds. David is hilarious and is the gem of this restaurant. Small place but they have a big heart in regards to their food and service. WELL BE BACK! :-)

The best Chinese restaurant by far in OC. The food is excellent--favs are the Hot and Sour Soup and the Dry Braided Beef. What makes the whole experience enjoyable is the warm hospitality of owner David and his staff.

Unbelievably good food and the friendliest staff Ive ever come across. Amazing hole in the wall restaurant. You must go here if you are in town
