DONT EAT HERE!!! I have never written a restaurant review, but felt compelled to do so after the awful dinner we experienced tonight. After complaining about some women smoking cigarettes in the covered-enclosed outside dining area, (which is illegal unless there is a designated smoking area), a hostess went to tell them there was no smoking in the restaurant. The women then ignored her and continued to smoke when I asked them politely to acknowledge her request and stop. One of the ladies flipped us off and told her friend not to put the cigarette out. The smart one realized that it would be better to put it out than make a scene. As she did, the other woman flipped me off with both hands high in the air waiving them around for all to see trying to make me the bad guy. I told her "that was real mature" and continued to get flipped off. A few minutes later, they confined in the owner of the restaurant who told them it was ok to smoke outside! I complained to the waiter who said that is wasnt the first time this happened and that the owner routinely lets his "friends" smoke outside. In short, I will never go back, the waiter asked the owner to speak with me after I voiced my concern and he would not do so, he told me that there was another owner who would talk to me and I decided to just leave, make my reviews, and handle the problem outside prime business hours. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS OWNER.

I had a really bad experience with this place! I will never come here again nor will I do business with them! Some of my friends and I had received gift cards from a grand opening event in Long Beach couple of days ago. We decided to visit this “Forbidden City restaurant,” fell in love with the decorations and the view. But don’t let the setting fool you, it called “Forbidden” for a reason! The foods were okay but next time I mine as well go into a Chinese fast food restaurant and order my food there. I was disappointed with the manager because when the bill came my friends and I want to use the gift cards as our payments. The manager told us it’s only good for one check or group! I was like its A GIFT CARD! IT’S MONEY! HELLO?!?!?!?! I had to read out loud from the gift card that it stated “LIMITED TO PER PERSON!” What’s really funny is that on the gift card where it stated limited to per person is in bold, capitalized and in RED! After I read it to him he went and adjusted the price for my group… we received the bill, handed our 20 dollars gift cards to the server. I had two 20 dollar gift cards on me and accidentally handed in both gift cards, I asked for one back and the manager refused to give it back to me. Why? Because he said and felt that too many people are taking advantage for it! I was like what?!?! It’s a gift card; of course people will take advantage of it!!!!!!

i moved to huntington beach about siz months ago from sandiego and i have been trying to get my mom and older brother out here to show them how nice every one here is. they finally came up here on friday. we had gone to a convention in long beach and decided on dinning out in long bech. i suggested forbidden city seeing as my friends liked it so much since i hang out in long beach so often my mom decided that sounded good. we got there and ordered. it took like ten minutes to get thre cokes and an iced tea to the table.we ordered and waited.they tried setting food down on the table that belonged to other tables twice... then we waited longer and the server came up to us and said it was five more minutes. we ended up waiting one hour for dumplings (appatizer) while others who arrived after us recived there entire meal, and the folks who noticed what was going on gave sympathy looks. that was so embarrasing. we offered to pay for the dumplings and drinks and left. the server didnt appalagize or any thing. i would not recomend this place to any one that care about there family.. i wasnt even hungry any more. we stopped by a carls jr in HB and recived far better treatment there. sad how a fast food place offeres better guest service than a fine dining spot by the bay

My husband and I were SO looking forward to a nice dinner out after a long week... NO such luck. The place is wonderfully designed, but thats all there is, apparences and nothing else. Once we sat down, server helpers(?!) kept bringing other peoples food to our table. Way too many helpers and servers standing around!!!! Then we ordered, specifically ordered breast meat for our chicken dish. Did I say "specifically?!" When the food came the dishes were very small in portion for the price they charged; and we got dark chicken meat for our dish. When we complained to our server, she argued that it was breast meat and we were mistaken and thats the type of meat the kitchen used for this dish.... Unbelievable!!!! They need to teach their servers on the food, before they let them out into the public! Its unbelievable that their server did not know the difference between dark and white chicken meat; and then argued with the customers otherwise.... Never coming back....

Must pay ATTENTION when dancing. We went there on a Friday evening for dinner and dance. The restaurant has live music and the 2 men band is great. However, the dance floor is made from bumpy slate tiles and two of my friend fell when they were dancing. The uneven floor is an unexpected nuisance. Your feet stick to the floor instead of sliding. Another thing to pay ATTENTION is your itemized bill. They add gratitude 15%-18% or 20% (service charge they call it) automatically to the bills even if you ask for separate bills in the group. The restaurant and the bar section is very dark so most people cant see the details of the bill an still leave 20% tip over already tipped bill. This happened to me and two other friends in the group. Too much of a coincidence!!

This place was ok Although the scenery was very nice and the atmosphere was very comfrontable the food was ok. I enjoyed the cheese and shrip wontons, cripsy orange chicken and lettuce wrap, but the brocolli and chicken didnt taste and smell all that great. I also noticed this with the rice, it smelled a little funny. It might be me but I think unless your a person who loves to dine in on chinese food alot this place may be a hit or miss. Im sure there are other foods on the menu that i didnt get to try that tastes delightful and others that they need some more practice on. Personally I would go back there, but i dont think i would be going back there anytime soon. It was ok but Ive had better.

Forbidden City is a treat... it is a combination of great food, Great Service, Great Entertainment, and a really nice staff... The owners run a tight ship, and are always very professional. I have tried most of their dishes at one time or another, and have not had a bad dish yet... I will say if you plan on going on a Saturday night... GET A RESERVATION!!! :) this is not a quick in and out dash type of restaurant,, if you are in a hurry this is not the place, but if you want a romantic, nice meal with great Ambience this is the place
