I am sorry to say this but I went to this resturant when they first opened and I was very disappointed in the food. Many years later, just last week, I wanted to see if it improved. The food is as bad as it ever was. I ordered the flan for dessert. Sliding my fork into it, I could tell right away, this dessert is not going to be good. It was very dense. I should have returned it butI was too embarrased since I already cut it with my fork. It taste as bad as it looked and felt. When I received my bill I could not believe that I was charged $8:50 for this horrible tasting dessert. I will never go back.

Good Mexican food and margaritas! The ambience here is interesting with bright colors everywhere. The basics here are really good ( chips, salsa, beans and rice) so getting that right is key. The margaritas in the pitcher are decently priced but come with way too much ice, they will reduce if you ask. Its located on Main St so you can pay for parking on either side of the street. Coming here for two or in a large group has been enjoyable and the service was always good. Sit on the patio in the back as it has a more relaxing vibe.

Having grown up in the Southwest, Ive eaten Mexican food from every quality level imaginable, but for a "restaurant" this was pretty low. Ive had Filibertos that tasted better. The restaurant itself is very cool looking, colorful and bright, but the service was sub par and the food was utterly bland and unconscionably over priced. There are a myriad of other places that are cheaper with better quality food, and even more that are similarly priced with incredible food. I urge you, do not waste your money.

We enjoyed this restaurant. Meals are excellent, tasty and food is good quality. Mexican crispy chips are served for free. We took a glass of red wine which was very good ! Prices are not so cheep (depends what you take) and the place is very busy, but you can enjoy an amber beer in the Irish pub next to the restaurant before to be seated (dont forget to put your name in the waiting list by the waitress)

Positives: Easy to get into on a Friday night, interesting decor, inexpensive kids menu. Negatives: The food was pretty poor. The margarita recommended by the waitress was small and nothing special. The salsa with the chips was not very good and very bland. The biggest negative was just the poor tasting food overall. Mexican food should not be that hard to make. I would not go back.

Overrated. Waited forever for our food and everything was subpar. Fajitas were bland and lacked spices. Goat cheese chicken breast with pepper sauce was basically a chicken breast with no goat cheese and they forgot he sauce. Drinks were the only good thing. Dont waste your time on this place when there are so many great restaurants in LA.

Weve been to Mexico mucho times, and done the Cal Mex all too many times. Eat at Lula Concina Mexican and youll swear youre in Mexico. The food is authentic, the atmosphere is too, and the wait staff attentive. Our young visitor from Australia had her first bite of "real" Mexican food and was delighted.

We lived in Santa Monica for 6 weeks while I was in a play. Lula Cocina became our go-to place. Fast, friendly service, good prices, and really great food. We went by ourselves -- and took friends. Great little place. My wife and I wish we could take it home with us to New York.

This place is ok. The food is tasty but overpriced. Unlike many mexican restaurants....the Entrees did not come with any rice or beans. They got us for an $8 guacamole that we dont think we ordered. Nice atmosphere, good smells, but wouldnt recommend this place to friends.

This Place Sucks majorly never ever ever come here service never came to give us refills salsa was just a can of green chilies with cut cilantro. Tacos were inedible very fishy taco shells were stale store bought. Took us forever just to get are check to leave dry dry food

Third time were here. Been great the first two times, but this time it was ridiculously bad. Service, food, everything was bad. Asked twice for a water refill that still never came, waited 25 minutes for lukewarm flavorless food. Wont be coming back.

Was overcharged by 4 dollars for an appetizer. Hope it was an honest mistake but it didnt seem like that and they were unapologetic. Food was pretty good. Place was not very clean. Would not recommend.
