I wanted some Pho and my buddy said that this was his favorite vietnamese restaurants in the area so we decided to go here for dinner. I am a fan of vietnamese food including pho and sandwiches and thought this place was excellent. The dining area itself is moderately sized, and the inside is immaculate, and the service was pretty good too. I had the eggrolls (which were amazing) and tried the Bahn Khot appetizer (which is the soup) and it was out of this world. Their pho was amazing, and as all good vietnamese places it was made from scratch. Also if you like fresh rolls you can try them here too they were quite tasty. Overall a great place to grab some pho and other vietnamese sandwiches.

I took my Vietnamese grandparents, who had just come to the U.S. a few days ago, to this place for lunch, and they said that this restaurant was the best Vietnamese restaurant that they had ever visited in California. We ordered banh khot, bun cha Ha Noi and fried rice with BBQ pork loin, and they all tasted very good, especially banh khot. Their tea was delicious, and their customer service was wonderful as well. The servers were extremely friendly. However, their dishes seemed to be too sweet that stopped me from craving for more. Other than that, their food was tasty. Highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Vietnamese food.

Introducing my newest discovery - banh knot. What to Order Here: Appetizer: Banh Knot (8.50 for 7) The Vung Tau Restaurant is best known for banh knot in the bay area. Banh knot is a fried rice flour dumpling with shrimp filling. Garnished with green onions and shrimp/fish flakes, the banh knot also comes with a side of lettuce and mint for you to wrap it in. With every tantalizing bite, I found both the balance of flavors and texture refreshing, crispy, and delicious. What a great addition to my, and soon to be your, Vietnamese food repertoire.

One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in the bay area and my go-to place for a satisfying Vietnamese meal! Love the combo options that allow you to choose different carb (rice, vermicelli square, etc) and meat choices (baby back ribs Vietnamese style you hear me?) Whats more fun than eating spring rolls you created yourself!? Nothing! My personal favourites were the lemongrass beef and the banh knot (fried rice ball with shrimp) appetizer!

Vung Tau is crazy good. Inside the seemingly unassuming building there lies a hidden culinary oasis in the heart of San Jose. I highly recommend the shaking beef and the shrimp in spicy red curry. They have an excellent bar with attentive staff and the beer selection has a surprising number of Belgian and Trappist ales. Always a good idea to get there early (even on weekdays) as they do get quite busy.

The restaurant looks a lot better in person than what I saw in pictures. The waitress recommended the crispy potato taco, it was so good! And probably my favorite. I also has the wings and papaya salad. I wasnt too crazy about the salad but it was perfect because I didnt want to eat too much fried foods. The wings werent bad as well.I would come back for the crispy tacos and to try the potato taquito.

I was very pleased with the soup. It was the # 7 I dont remember what it was called but it had pork, crab, shrimp. And a shrimp Freud in to a kind of pancake. I was not sure if I was supposed to soak it in the broth or eat it separate. But it was great non the less. Very pleased. I will definitely go back. The lady at the front recommended I try the lemon grass beef noodle soup. I will next time :)

Dang! Vung Tau rocks! And guess what! I didnt even know what Vung Tau meant - until I lived close to it in Sai Gon. Its pretty much what Santa Cruz is to us Silicon Valleyians and offers a nice beach close to Sai Gon Viet Nam. But, Im seriously off track and I just love the taste Vung Tau offers because the three bean drink is BOMB! Thank you for keeping it real and having so much variety.

Its been a family restaurant that has updated itself over the years, without compromising its original menu. Yes, it is rather pricy, but it is filling, godly and delicious. Good for all kinds of events, from a casual business meeting to a birthday to general not wanting to cook. If you have the time, or are in San Jose, you absolutely MUST go to this staple of the community.

This is a decent place if you want to introduce someone to Vietnamese food. Its great for people who havent had a lot of authentic ethnic food and may be grossed out by a hole in the wall, strong smelling sauces, etc. The food itself is just OK. Its basically all the typical Vietnamese dishes prepared adequately. The service isnt great and for what you pay, you should get more.

My wife and i came here for dinner and i was very disappointed. I ordered the bo lu lac that tasted like it was cooked the previous night. The beef was pink in the middle but was hard and dry. Service is a tad better then most vietnamese places. Only a tad. I felt weird dining. Waiter would often stares at you with a blank look on their faces.

Their food was okay, nothing special. Just the same as most joints in san Jo. Their prices are freaking a lot higher than most viet joints though. Your really just paying for the fancy decor, the place looks higher class but its pretty much the same underlay. We had to try to flag someone down for service several times.

Tip: Vung Tau is one of the top elegant Vietnamese restaurants in the South Bay. Try their signature Banh Knot, Com Bo Luc Lac, Claypot Seabass, and the Tamarind Tiger prawns and be prepared to order some white rice so you can savor and enjoy all the magical sauce these dishes are made with.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay area, if I get a chance to go here I grab the Vietnamese Mini Savory Pancake and the noodles with jumbo prawn and lean pork loin. This place is amazing and I would rate it very high on my list of Vietnamese restaurants that one should go to.

Went for our anniversary. many seats overlook a creek that is lit at night. Menu is simple but well done, they welcome substitutions and portion size changes. Parking is good. reservations suggested as they do get busy. the staff is quite knowledgeable. The house wine is good.

Eating here with high expectations by all the good reviews. The staff was very friendly. The food and ingredients are very average. Disappointed with the portion and price was horrendous compare to all the Vietnamese restaurants that and similar quality and environment.
