I give 5 stars for cleanliness, service, quality food, speed and value. My fist time to this place which is really popular based on the croud and time of day. I was invited in upon arrival with a genuine warmth. As they quickly cleared a table for me as a quest left, several different people inquired if I was being taken care of. I received immediate attention upon being seated. I ordered beef with broccoli on thin egg noodles. It arrived within 7 minutes and was piping hot...made to order. The beef was tender and flavorful. The broccoli and noodles were perfectly cooked. The restaurant was regularly maintained/cleaned, and all employees were engaged. This was a nice surprise for a diner-like restaurant....better than more casual dining experiences. Great job China Chen!! Ill be back.

Yummy, affordable Vietnamese (yes, Vietnamese not China) noodles. Cash only! I was a little confused when I looked at the menu. They have a nice description of this restaurant history/beginning, and thats where i learn this is a Vietnamese restaurant and not a China restaurant. == Food == Dry pork egg noodle with oyster sauce (3/5) - meh, noodles were good. Shrimp wonton egg noodles (4/5) - the wonton in there is so so good! Fried flour cake with egg (4/5) - Kinda tasteless really. Its nice when you dip it into the special sauce (vinegar plus something..the staff said he couldnt reveal it to me..lol) Perhaps because it reminds me of home. == Service / Ambience == Cash only! Service is kind of slow but expected as well.

In A Nutshell: -You gotta love this little neighborhood restaurant that serves AUTHENTIC Vietnamese/Chinese food. -Tiny, yet never overly-crowded & very effecient service. -The main thing my wife and I always order is their Won Ton Soup. The temperature is always piping hot, the broth is very tasty (not too salty) & the won tons are the big, flappy kind which wraps the heart of the won ton: the succulent shrimp. -Try their Fried Game Hen. Extra crispy & moist. Overall, China Chen is the epitome of the type of Asian restaurant youd find when visiting your favorite Far East city. A real dandy!

Singaporean here and I gotta say this is the Best Wonton Mee in the bay! The only downside is the lack of parking lots in the area. We had to park two blocks away to get a lot. Soup is great, very tasty. We ordered friend wonton with the dried noodles and a bowl of soup noodled. The fried Wontons are much bigger than expected (they use large shrimp inside) and very thin and crispy. The noodles were great and just about the right portion. The char siew was good but probably not the best Ive had. The food came out within 5 mins so it was really fast.

Best noodle soup in town! I got the highly regarded Shrimp Wonton Egg Noodle soup (you can also get it with ho fun noodles too if you prefer) and it was served with generous portions of everything in it. The soup broth tasted much cleaner than most others Ive had before at similar restaurants, so I left the restaurant feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. China Chen - the perfect place to cure your hangover and warm your soul.

Good authentic Vietnamese food in San José and very close to SJSU. Family owned/operated business with a good history in the area. The name makes you think its Chinese food but its not. Staff are very busy here at lunch time so be ready to order when they arrive. Good rich broth in the soups. Ill be back.

Good food and reasonable pricing. I usually get food to go and the its a short wait. The one bad thing is parking. They dont have a dedicated parking so youll have to park along the street and pay the meter. Often times its hard to find a parking space.

One of most favorite Asian foods in Bay Area. The flavors so good, exactly like Chinese noodles from Chinatown, Saigon. Make me so homesick each time I come here. Should try the dried noodle, especially Trieu Chau noodles and Mi Cat noodles. So yummy!

Great place Chinese noodle house. Kinda cramped but can accommodate a decent group of ~10 without tooo much trouble. Dont let the looks inside scare you away, the taste of the food is great and the banh bot chien is good here!

Woah, really awesome noodle place! I had a combo rice noodle soup. It had pork liver, fried pork skin, beef and shrimp balls, squid and one shrimp. The clear broth was yu-mami. Looks like its cash only though.
