My favorite ramen spot hands down! I have been dying to try Benten Ramen for quite some time now and I finally got my chance last night! My friend and I both agreed that the ramen is absolutely the best that we had. The whole dining experience was great from the attentiveness of the staff, tastiness of the food, price, complimentary organic tea, and the fact that they accept credit cards. When we first arrived, we actually had a hard time finding the exact location. Our GPS pointed out that it was located in the El Pollo Loco plaza, although it wasnt. Benten Ramen is actually located in the adjacent plaza across the street, near Golden Deli. Upon walking in, the restaurant looked really plain with its white walls, wooden seating, and a really simple menu. Although, the friendliness of the staff provided a more inviting experience. Our server was very helpful in explaining the menu and he even pointed out to us that there were hairbands for us to use! I swear they thought of everything! My friend proceeded in ordering the Shoyu ramen ($8.75) with extra veggies ($1.00) and I opted for the Tonkotsu Ramen ($8.75). Both ramen come with complimentary rice as well. We didnt have to wait long before we were both served our ramen bowls (less than 10 minute wait). We both agreed that the ramen was extremely tasty and the noodles were really good as well. Shoyu Ramen - Soy sauce based broth with bamboo, cabbage, seaweed, scallions, bean sprouts, chashu pork, and egg. Tonkotsu Ramen- Pork fat based broth with mushrooms, seaweed, scallions, chashu, and egg. I usually get the Tonkotsu ramen at all the ramen joints I visit, but this was the first time I had Tonkotsu where the broth isnt crazy fatty and yet still very tasty. I also really enjoyed the complimentary organic red tea. It was really refreshing! The sauces that came with the ramen was also quite interesting. They give you a seaweed, mustard, and spicy sauce in which you can mix into your ramen. They only give a really tiny amount, but we were able to ask for more since we enjoyed the sauces so much. Oh and the egg was definitely the best part of our meal! It was cooked to perfection! Most ramen places cook the egg too much and the yolk becomes too solidified, well this wasnt the case at Benten! One bite of their egg and the golden gooey yolk drips out and when mixed with the broth it was just perfection! Since they gave us a stamp card at the end of our meal (buy 10 get 1 free ramen) Ill definitely be coming back for more!

First of all, this place is not part of the Benten Ramen chain in Japan. This Ramen Shop used to be Ton Chan Ramen. [Location] - Located right next to the popular Golden Deli on the street between Mission and San Gabriel Blvd. [Parking] - Parking is mostly management, but if it is getting full then just park on the Side Street. [Décor] - Nothing to write home about. It has a very simple interior that lacks a TV and Restroom. [Service] - Excellent service where the waiter gave us useful information about Ramen and their Tea. [Food] - All orders of Ramen come with choice of green or organic Rooibos Tea. Also their Ramen comes with the free small sushi rice bowl upon request. The portion of Ramen they give you is pretty generous. The Ramen I chose was Tsukemen. You dip the Ramen into the broth bowl. The broth has a much heavier flavor but a smaller portion than other broth. The noodles were pretty big, but it seemed like the Udon was very chewy. Overall I was impressed with this place. I would definitely come back again to try the other Ramen. Each Ramen uses different noodles and broths. Tip: Get $1 off a topping when you check in with your Yelp App.

One of the best No frill classic, both in presentation and taste, ramen house. No fusion ramen here and the menu is super simple. The soft boiled "soy sauce injected" egg is probably a hit or miss thing depending on your taste. I like it. It helped keep the yolk from being cooked through and stay liquid. I just eat it with a spoon so it catches any thing that spills out from the egg. I also like the mini side dish that includes salted seaweed, squid flakes, and hot pepper. If you add these to separate spoonful as you eat, its like you have 3 different kind of ramens at one seating. Just a small but delightful touch. The price is a bit more than other ramen places but it includes Excellent quality green tea or Roobois tea. I forgot the Japan region the green tea comes from but it is better than most restaurant green tea. If youre a messy eater, they have plastic apron and hair tie available. Nice touch and saved my white shirt on occasion. Ive been back more than 40x and I think they put addicting drug in the Tsukemen. I now have regular craving for it.

Always wanted to try this place, sadly not because of the ramen, but because of their complimentary organic rooibos or green tea. Finally got the chance to try it. Came here with a co-worker and ordered one ramen to share. Since we were sharing, we ordered extra meat and a side of noodles. It was just perfect to share. We got the spicy miso. Wasnt too bad. However, only thing I didnt like was that theres no restroom... So how are the customers suppose to wash their hands or use the bathroom when they need it? I think they need to find some space to make a bathroom or it might suck drinking those comp. teas. :(

Michelle Y. and I came here for lunch on a Sunday. We were seated right away and offered our choice of complimentary green or rooibos red tea. We went with the green tea and both got the tonkotsu ramen. Food came out super quick. Broth is flavorful and not too fatty. I added the all the add-ins on the dish (spicy, garlic, and some marinated seaweed?) into my ramen. Noodles are the thin, hakata style kind - like Shisengumi and Yamadaya. Portions are smaller so youre not stuffed when youre done. Service is super quick and friendly! Id come back, but wouldnt drive out of my way to do so.

I LOVE coming to Benten for ramen. My favorite to get is the Tonkatsu ramen. The soup is so creamy and flavorful. You must try the injected egg that comes with it! They also give you complimentary rice and tea. The Miso Ramen is amazing as well. Both are a must try. The servers here are super friendly too! They also have a stamp card here, after getting 10 ramens the 11th ramen is free :). Also they dont have a restroom here. So its best to go before you come here.

Incredible service only adds to what is already a great dining experience. The menu is small but excellent. The spicy Miso comes in several levels of heat but , while hot, doesnt overpower the actual flavors in your bowl. By the time we were done with lunch here we were already talking about coming back. Definitely recommending this place to all my ramen loving friends.

日本のつけ麺にとても近い味でよかった。ルイボスティーとgreen teaが2つ出てくるのが他のお店と違うところだなと思った。欲を言えば、つけ麺の種類を増やして欲しい。

I had the Tsukemen (dipping noodles) which was actually 3 oz. more than the other noodles they offered. The ramen itself was already flavorful so when I dipped it in the soup, the whole mixture just tasted heavenly. Ramen here comes with a variety of sauces as well as rice (if requested).
