I decided to go to Mr. Ramen because I was looking for a Japanese noodle house in LA serving noodles with a vegetarian broth because my girlfriend and I are vegetarians and I am vegan. Mr. Ramen fit the bill, and the reviews seemed good. My girlfriend and I ordered miso vegetarian ramen and vegetable fried rice. The waitress came back after 5 minutes to tell us that the veggie fried rice already had egg in it. Pre-made fried rice? I didnt think the rice sounded very fresh and I dont eat egg, but my girlfriend decided to order it anyway (she eats egg) Almost 15 minutes later, our meal showed up (all of the other tables had their noodle bowls on them, and they werent very busy). I am very willing to wait for tasty food, but neither of us felt the food was very good. The veggies in the ramen noodles actually tasted somewhat spoiled, and the miso ramen was very bland. My girlfriend said the fried rice was average. We decided to ask for a little hot sauce, and 1 tablespoon of very hot, bland tasting hot sauce was brought to the table. The hot sauce added spice, but little flavor to our bland noodle dish. When we got our bill, we noticed that the waitress charged 75 cents for a tablespoon of hot sauce. This is a first in my life, and I have been to numerous restaurants all over the world. Not that 75 cents is expensive, but to charge for a tablespoon of red hot sauce? I told the waitress that it was odd to be charged for a little hot sauce, and she just smiled and apologized. We were still charged for the sauce after the credit card was processed. I would certainly not recommend this restaurant to anyone. We both felt that there are much better ramen places in Los Angeles.

This place is excellent! There is a large selection of ramen, cold ramen, and even a vegetarian menu. First off, if you walk right by it, youd never really notice it. Most people dont because theyre headed to Daikokuya. Let me just tell you, I personally think Daikokuya is a bit overrated, and the time you have to wait is absurd! Not so at Mr. Ramen, it is often at a low busy level, and there is definitely ample seating, maybe a dozen or so small tables on one side and 3 or 4 large tables on the other. When you walk in, youre greeted and offered a seat (either wherever you like, or taken to an open table, depends on traffic.) Once youve been seated, take a look at your menu and order! The food sometimes takes a while to get out to you, but it is certainly worth the wait, which is never more than 15 minutes. They recently got a new system that lets them ring you up right at your table, which I think is really cool! One of the walls is covered in drawings people have done, as well as a couple menu items. The staff are very kind and will accommodate you in whatever way they can if you have a food allergy or special request. My personal favorite is the chicken bamboo ramen on cold days, and any of the cold ramen items on a hot day. Summer for them is a relatively slow season, but business picks up A LOT in winter, so be prepared to wait a little longer in the colder months.

I was really excited about going to this place because I was really craving some ramen. I read the wonderful reviews and decided to go but unfortunately I was disappointed with the service, not so much the food, even though its not the best ramen Ive tasted. Come time the end of my meal my waitress shows up and I pay for my $10 meal. I drop a $20 and she questioned why I needed change. The tip is 15% not 50%. She proceeded to snatch the money out of my hand when I asked for smaller bills than $5. I shoule have just left without tipping if Im going to get attitude like that. What bothered me the most though was the obvious seperation of cups. If you were Asian you got a plastic cup, if you were not you got a easier to sanitize glass cup. This bothers me I dont care whatever reason they have for serving their customers this way. I simply wont be going back.

This place has great food for great prices. The servers were very nice as well as very cute LOL. They even have a special veggie / vegan options for those of you who eat within that category. But they also have lots of meat which I love. Theyll for Combos and a bunch of drinks too come and try at youll definitely love it I love this place the surrounding area is also a great place for shopping and for any of those who are big anime fans you will love the decor. Its decorated with anime characters as well as famous modern characters in cartoon or anime form. Its fun picking them out and recognizing your favorites. They also have a little section of napkin drawings for those of you who want to show your art to the public LOL

With the influx of ramen shops from Japan, Mr. Ramen may be a comforting blast from the past (think mid-centuryJapanese-American) or a mediocre execution missing the details one expects at a traditional Japanese stand. For example: the egg is not marinated and you wont get all the traditional toppings (naruto, bamboo shoots or bean sprouts - but you can order an egg, corn, and a couple other things) Competitively priced, most items hover around $10 with ramen usually a little less. Service is friendly but a bit sluggish compared to the best ramen stands - American or Japanese. If youre in Little Tokyo - I would seek other ramen stands before this one, but it will do in a pinch.

My favorite downtown ramen stop. A no-hype comfortable restaurant with great portions and a large menu. Some have given low marks for lack of flavor, but with the pork bone option for the soup stock, and always a full compliment of spice and add-ins, you shouldnt want for lack of flavor. This isnt a "food challenge" type of place. This is a place to sit and enjoy your meal. If youre looking to boast to your friends that you finished your way too spicy bowl of soup stock with some ramen tossed in, downtown has places like that for you. Also try the very delicious pork cutlet with curry. Outstanding, and served with a a refreshing pickled pimento garnish.

Dont doubt this place, the food is awesome and they play reggae all the time. The only problem is one waitress who i think doesnt know the tip percentage. Me, my girlfriend and her sisiter went to eat there and everything was cool until we finished. We left a tip of 15% plus some change, but the waitress who attended us got offended and gave us the money back and told us not to go back. When we asked what was wrong she ignored us and walked away angry. She did this another time we went, but she was doing it to everyone. I suggest if you go, go during the day when that waitress isnt there.

I would like to give it 5 stars because I go here often, but Ill be truthful. The sliced pork they have is sometimes frozen and other times nice and hot. They say its cold and the soup heats it up, but there were times that it wasnt frozen. I do not know if it should be frozen or not. Also there are times where their service drops and you have to get their attention. Then there are times where they are on top of everything. They always have their ups and downs which sucks and a star was lost. The food though is freaking amazing and that in itself brings my girlfriend and I back often.
