I dont want to sound like a ramen snob, but the ramen here just isnt that great - Ive definitely had better. I had so much faith coming here, that I would finally find a *decent* ramen house in SF, but I guess the search has to continue. Why are there no good ramen houses in SF? If you know of one, PLEASE let me know! My only standards are that: 1) tonkatsu broth must be creamy, bold, flavorful, hearty, and basically a nicely liquified heart attack in a bowl, and 2) ramen noodles must be chewy. Is that so much to ask for....? :( Ive been eyeing this place for awhile, ever since it opened up and saw it on ScoutMob. Initially wanted to go to Umami Burger, but when we found out that it was closed during the holiday season, the bf and I decided to come here to give it a try. Called the place ahead of time to see how long of a wait it will be, and to find out that theres no wait at all. One annoying thing is that its cash only, so we had to stop by an ATM to pull out cash. I dont think theres a store sign, so it was hard to locate the ramen house. When we arrived, there were only two tables being occupied. The owner (I believe) told us that only the tonkatsu broth was the only choice left, but that wasnt a problem because its my go-to broth anyways! The chicken karaage was alright - it was a bit oily, but had nice flavor to it. But who cares about anything but ramen at a ramen house? Lets cut to the chase... First, the broth was not flavorful at all to be considered "tonkatsu". It was just not fatty/meaty enough. You know you have some authentic tonkatsu broth when it quickly solidifies into fat when youre halfway through with the bowl of ramen. In addition, the spiciness totally masked the tonkatsu flavor, if there was any to begin with. Though I must say that the noodles werent too bad, it was chewy at least.. and tasted a bit eggy? But it couldve been better. The runny egg was cooked to a good consistency, but not impressive. Ramen House Rankings: 1. Daikokuya (Los Angeles) 2. Butao Ramen (Hong Kong) 3. Ramen Dojo (San Mateo) * *There is a large enough gap between Ramen Dojo and Butao/Daikokuya that its kind of unfair to place Ramen Dojo as 3rd. Im just looking for that ramen house to fill that #3 spot! Will try Orenchi in Santa Clara next! Hope it wont disappoint! Listed in: Ramen Houses

Ramen in SF sucks. Bad. Ive been to countless ramen joints in SF and theyve all been meh (especially the ones in Japantown). Even Katana-yas quality has deteriorated over the years. In fact, the best ramen in SF isnt even from a ramen restaurant, but rather an izakaya (Izakaya Sozai). Thats why I wasnt really expecting much from Kirimachi Ramen. Maybe my low expectations helped its case, but I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good the ramen is here. Dont get me wrong, its nothing like the ramen in the Pennisula (e.g., Ramen Dojo) or the South Bay (e.g., Orenchi), but within the borders of San Francisco, its pretty good. The Tonkatsu Ramen had a good pork bone flavor. I wish the broth was a bit more piping-hot and I wish the noodles were a bit more al dente, but it was a good bowl of ramen nonetheless. They included shredded pork rather than pork slices, which is kind of weird, but the pork is definitely tender. The soft-boiled egg had the perfect gooey yolk. Kirimachi should definitely be open later in the night, since the location is perfect for afterhours grubbing in the North Beach area. I mean, what better than a nice bowl of ramen for after getting dirty lapdances from Chlamydia-infested strippers or dancing all night at ghetto AZN clubs?

We were happy to find a ramen place a short walk from our home. My husband and I came here and it was pretty empty at 2:00 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. He ordered the kuro tonkotsu ramen which is the blak pork ramen (black from a roasted garlic oil that is added) and I ordered the regular tonkotsu ramen. I preferred mine over his and he liked his more than mine. His was a bit too flavorful and salty for me. Mine was already packed with flavor and saltiness. It was $10 a bowl including tax, cash only. My husband really enjoyed it and he is pretty picky when it comes to ramen since he compares it to ramen in Tokyo. We will be back!

Decent place for ramen. I came off hours around 3pm and in time for the happy hour ramen deal for $9.95. Not bad to save $3 and not having to wait at all! I hear the place is pretty packed during normal lunch hours so I probably wouldnt come during the rush for the ramen. Overall ramen is good but nothing special. The service was good and space is simple yet nice. If youre looking for some ramen in FiDi this would be a good spot to try.

Sitio de comida rápida japonesa. El ramen es muy bueno y el plato es contundente sin ser pesado. Hay también platos de arroz. El precio poco por encima de otras opciones de comida rápida por la zona.

$14.68 is the total for the No 1 Ramen. While the soup was full of flavor but it is on the salty side. The bowl was a medium size bowl with just enough ramen and toppings. Toppings includes 5 pieces of bamboo shoot, 3 pieces of pork, half a soft boil egg, a table spoon worth of mema and scallions. Im neither delighted or disappointed at the moment. I will be back to try their Hiyashi ramen in the future.

Basic ramen done best. In an age where you can choose 6 different types of volcanic ramen that all taste the same it is nice to find a place that gives heart to its broth. The small cafe spot has both pleasant service and full bodied broth. Advice to people with an American palette; order the #1. People that desire a more fishy broth please enjoy shino tonkotsu.

普通の醤油ラーメンを頂きました。 麺が微妙にスープと絡まないのが惜しいですが、香りもしっかりしてて、スープもとても美味しかったです。 今回は食べれませんでしたが、つけ麺もあるようですね。

I cant speak for the ramen, but if this place is going to put donburi on their menu and charge money for it, they sure as heck should be doing a better job than the atrocious glop they served to me. It has been a long time since Ive squared off with an inedible meal. And the server was entirely ungracious about the matter.

We stopped by the mall and saw this little Ramen place and decided to dine in. Great food, nice big windows so its not very dark and you can watch people as you enjoy the food. I recommend ordering food and not just sitting at a table to watch people.

The ramen was tasty. The broth is more on the fishy side but it was good! The tsukemen ramen aka dipping noodle was really good. The broth is rich but not fishy. The owner (I think) was super nice! For sure recommend it for weekday lunch or dinner!

There are happy hour specials which provide a bit of a discount but not much. The ramen here is perfectly adequate but not particularly interesting or flavourful. The staff are nice and the entrance is a bit hidden.

Tried the tsukemen and it was fantastic. Texture of the noodles was just right with a slight bit of chew. The only thing that I wish could be improved would be thw prices.
