This reviews purpose is to compare I Love Ramen (ILR) with Tokya Ya across the street. If you dont like ramen dont go to a ramen place. Ive been going to Tokya Ya ever since it has opened. Tokya Ya is one of the best places I have ever had ramen. Ive since then decided to try out I Love Ramen (ILR) a few times and here are my reviews. The Takoyaki in both restaurants are delicious but in ILR I prefer the way that they make it. It comes with a mini salad that has an orange that just makes the taste stand out! Not to mention that their takoyaki is in itself way more wholesome than Tokya Ya. As for the soup you get a much more generous portion in ILR than you do in Tokya Ya. The soups come with more options and you get vegetables and even seafood when you ordered something of a different sort. Pros of I Love Ramen vs Tokya Ya: +Way more options of soup +More Authentic style +Slightly cheaper (probably not even that much cheaper at all tbh) +Takoyaki is better here +Soup comes in bigger portions and your soup comes with better options* *Except for Tokya Ya pork, that shi shu grilled pork is something unique to Tokya ya and it is SOOO good. Pros of Tokya ya: +Way more modern +Has tvs and feels overall more mainstream than most ramen places including ILR +Very friendly (this might be a negative because they are over friendly at tokya ya). +Less options so its less intimidating and almost all soups come with delicious shi shu pork. Overall Both restaurants are VERY satisfying and very delicious. I dont think I Love Ramen will be going out of business because of Tokya Ya because both places have very unique styles for their customers. While I Love Ramen is more authentic and provides almost 6 times the menu size of Tokya ya, Tokya ya has made it simple and let you choose they very few items you would have probably chose anyways. Depending on what youre going for I recommend I Love Ramen for ramen lovers, but will recommend Tokya Ya for first time ramen eaters. Thanks for reading!

I recently came to I Love Ramen after a friend recommended it to me after going there for the first time, and I can say I am very glad he did. Its in a nice little building and as you walk in the staff greets you, with the Japanese staff greeting you with "Irasshaimase!" just as they would in a ramen shop in Japan. They are eager to take your order and are very courteous. Now, on to the food. I ordered a miso ramen which came with a sliced piece of BBQ pork and a half of a boiled egg. I am used to eating a small-sized bowl of pho, so when they came out with a huge bowl I was pleasantly surprised! It only took about less than 10 minutes for them to finish and it was nice and hot when it did. I have no real marker to compare their ramen to any other ramen shop since the only other ramen shop I know of is in Seattle and I havent made it up there yet to try it out, but I Love Ramens soup is very delicious. The noodles taste homemade and the broth was rich, but not overpowering. The BBQ pork piece was tender and the egg was not overcooked at all. Overall, I was surprised and very happy to find out that Ive finally found a good ramen place in the south end. It was delicious and I would definitely come back again to try another flavour. So, if youre looking for some legitimate ramen thats no where near even some of your best "ramen bricks" head on down to I Love Ramen.

I just got back from Japan and am searching for some authentic Japanese ramen. The ramen at I Love Ramen is good, but not quite there. I had the TonkOtsu ramen, and I think it had a lack of depth in the broth, and too much in the way of additional stuff, like bell peppers and corn. Maybe needs garlic? My dad had the miso ramen, and it was bland. The Takoyaki was actually very good, but missing the traditional tuna flakes on top. The Tonkatsu was nothing special. The Gyoza were very good. My favorite thing about this restaurant was our server, who was beyond sweet and gracious. All in all, I will return to try some of the other ramens and for the takoyaki. If you havent had ramen in Japan, you will love the ramen here!

Wanted to try a new ramen place so we checked this place out. We were the only people in there. Was a cute tiny restaurant kind of on its own. I got the spicy katsu chicken and mh boyfriend got the shoyu ramen. We also ordered some gyoza to share. The gyoza was pretty good. The chicken katsu was pretty good and didnt end up eating much of my ramen cause it was all too much food. Mu boyfriend thought his ramen was OK. Not sure I would recommend this place, there are other ramen places around here that we like that are closer. However if you are in that area looking for ramen it is a decent choice.

Honest and real. Very "home style" The owner/server and frequently cook, hailing from Japan, is the kindest, and most since woman to meet. Through the years Ive tried everything on the menu and it tastes like "home". They leave me alone to eat, which I like, after all Im here to be with my meal companions, and not pestered by some tip-hungry server. When I want something I flag her down and shes happy to bring us more, awesome! The noodles are always fresh, the broth can be seasoned to MY liking, and I have never left hungry. Id give even more stars if I were able.

GREAT service, FAST FRIENDLY, been going to other similar style restaurants in the area, probably tried them all and this one kicks all of them! Definitely coming back! Very homey and cute, they have origami and custom pictures as well that they sell. Priced fairly and have DELICIOUS food, all the negative reviews I read on here are no where seen as far as I could tell! They take great pride in their customer service and their products!

We went on a Friday night and it was busy, but it took forever for everything, we were there 30 mins before we were eating. The food was awful! The Miso Ramen was bland, and was not made well, the rice was overcooked, and everything was way to expensive. What should have been a $20 meal was $40!! I can make better Ramen at home with Top Ramen! I would not recommend this place to anyone!

My friend & I went there wben it first opened. Both of us being from Japan were excited to see a Japanese restaurant that seem to serve traditional Japanese food. I had curry rice & my friend had yaki soba. It was the worst Ive ever had. Ive had better at a lousy restaurant in Tokyo. For those giving good ratings obviously dont have a clue as to how Japanese food taste.

Ive been there once and have been craving to go back since the moment I left. I had the curry udon, and it was amazing. The waitress was very nice and was very enthusiastic. The portions were huge! Almost couldnt finish my whole bowl. Just amazing place to go for a nice hot bowl of noodles.

Bad service. Japanese culture treats customer service as golden. Not here. Food is okay and they are sparse with the main ingredients, like it is seafood but hardly any seafood. Ive eaten at many ramen noodle eats/restaurants. This one is very disappointing.
