Frena Bakery is run by some of the warmest, friendliest people you will ever meet. I am Program Manager for Sprouts Cooking Club and Frena hosted one of our youth culinary camps for a 3-hour cooking class this summer. One of the owners, Avi, led the class, and had the kids active making food the entire time. They were incredibly generous with their time and resources, having campers and counselors alike making and eating their own assortment of baked goods. We made challah, a variety of sambusak (the pockets), buns, donuts, and more. The kids were mesmerized by the process and machinery involved, and the charm of Avi and his team had us all smiling and laughing the whole time. It is obvious they are running a bakery because they love food and they love people. They were just as excited, if not more, than all of us to have our camp through to teach and inspire. You can tell their heart is in this work, and they were just happy to share what they know and to teach our campers. Not to mention— the food is wonderful. So tasty, perfectly cooked, beautiful. Its all you could ask for from a bakery— good food and good people. So appreciative of Avi and his team, and think theyll soon be a neighborhood staple. Thanks again to you all for your time! :)

First, I am a former employee that knows the love and passion that goes into every meal. The food is great and I discovered through FRENA a taste for awesome Israeli cuisine. The donuts are second to none; I never got tired of those! The savory and sweet borrecas are incredible and the sambuskas are a very satisfying meal at an affordable price. In addition to all of these great foods the people are even more amazing. They are community oriented and give from the ❤. They in turn deserve the best San Francisco has to offer. Mozol tov, GO FRENA BAKERY, GO!

Delicious, traditional bagels. New York transplants, if youre looking for NY style bagels... This is not the place. If you find the place, let me know. On the other hand, what Frena offers are a completely different style of bagel to fall in love with! Get the traditional zatar bagel, its amazing. Match it with a traditional Israeli coffee (thick, full flavored, with the feelings still in), and youll have a phenomenal breakfast.

This place is great. Finding kosher options is difficult in SF and as someone who does eat non-kosher I can tell you the quality is better than many other bakeries in SF. The challah and pita are the best Ive had in a long time. Both are really light, fluffy, and delicious. If you can get the pita soon after its been baked, do it. The pockets are really good as well. The mashed potatoes ones are my favorite.

Over priced . There is no prices on the products. Good taste but again over priced! If you must eat kosher so for now thats the only kosher bakery in SF so fine.. They dont used gloves when warming up your food holding it in there hands . And the neighborhood outside the store is not nice. Lots of homeless . 2.5 stars for now. If they will use gloves it will be 3.5 and if the price will go down so 4 star

I had no idea what they make/bake. I wasnt even sure what I ordered but had the mushroom and pesto sandwich, coffee and cinnamon roll. I was not sure what they called their house coffee but ordered it. I have to say the food is amazing. The cinnamon roll was good but the sandwich flavors and coffee was outstanding. I would definitely go here again.

The bakery itself is excellent, though a bit over-priced. If the food scores a 5-star review, the location receives a resounding 0. Horrifying neighborhood; didnt feel 100% safe. Bottom line - If youre looking for Kosher food in SF you cant get much better in terms of quality, but keep an eye open.

Wow! This is possibly the best bakery/cafe ever. We visited SF and ate 3 out of 4 meals here plus brought bags of breads and pasteries home. Everything was incredible. So fresh, so authentic. We want to come back to SF JUST to eat here!

Finally a good Israeli bakery on the west coast. By far the best Pita Bread you will find anywhere in the Bay Area plus other goodies. This place has been opened for just a few weeks and I already know people who got addicted to it.

Absolutely fantastic. The sambusac is by far the best in the city. Fresh, hot and made to perfection. Real pita and challah. If you like spicy, dont forget to ask for the Yemeni spicy sauce.
