No History, No Self. Know History, Know Self. Spelled backwards is I Lov It. A certain sense of pride is had when drinking in San Diego’s oldest bar. Yeah, don’t believe all that other BS about longest running, longest licensed. This is the oldest bar people. It’s survived the times evolving with the will of the people and being a hub of the community. Service isn’t the greatest, prices are decent (you know they also carry my other vice behind the bar too). Selection is pretty good and I like the multiple upgrades they have done over the past decade. The regulars keep the peace on the patio because you get a lot of vagrants roaming. I’ve been to worse bathrooms. It’s a fun place to grab a beer, but not spend all day/night at. They certainly go overboard with the butt funneling or maybe people never learned how to order, probably a little of both, get your drink and get out the way. Karaoke is pretty cool as some of the staff are really good. They could use a 2nd bartender when it’s busy. It’s a little divey, but a great spot to start/end a crawl or just central to some day drinking. It seems crowded at times, but never tooo crowded.

This is the oldest bar in the Gaslamp District. It has all kind of history. The walls are alive with art and memorabilia. I had to go in, it was calling me. Im so glad i did. I had an amazing time. It wasnt that crowded and the people that was there were regulars. Good vibe. Have your I.D ready of you look younger than 25. I got I.Ded, lol. I have a tasty Peach Ale fresh from the tap. My Bartender was DAMN SAM, her name is Samantha but thats the nickname I gave her. DAMN SAM is very entertaining. She has a great personality. She beautiful inside and out. Carlos was her assistant. Carlos has the cutest dimple and great taste in music. Lois(my bunkie that i met at the hostel) and I had a blast. Dancing in our chairs, singing along with the Juke box, drinking and Laughing. You have to stop here, if youre in the area. Good times

Probably my favorite spot in the Gaslamp but Im a sucker for an honest dive bar, esp. one with a bit of history. Its a blast to drink pitchers outside and watch everyone standing in line to get into the trendy places. Plus, everyone in this place has a story to tell and theyll gladly bend a listening ear. The Canadian food place inside, Montreals, is perfect. Greasy, overflowing plates of poutine, awesome ham and cheese sandwiches plus you can get drunk here without going broke.

Buddy dragged me out of some of the more trendy newer places there to show me this one. Pleasantly surprised at the old school diviness of the joint. Great late-70s Rock on the juke box playing and a friendly bartender who knows the Tivoli story made this far more welcoming than some of the newer, trendier, pretty faces spots. Ill be back here before most of the other spots in Gaslamp.

All I have to say is... Dirty. Sexy. Money. Great for late night shenanigans and general fun. Strong drinks, gritty look, fun people. My kind of place. Bartenders are friendly and love to share a laugh... it really doesnt get much better than this... Stumbling out at 1:30, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Always feel like home when you walk in the door. Its the closest establishment San Diego has to Cheers. Everyones welcome, everything is basic, and there are no pretentious airs. Its a great if not exciting experience. Like Moms home cooking.

Bouncer threatened every third Padre fan gets their ass beat. Asked bartender for a pitcher and she told us she couldnt do it and walked away. She eh, absolutely pathetic service
