Lacy summers

Being a resident here for well over 35 years-I have strong love for Tierrasanta and all of our business owners here. Here is my first experience at Homestyle Hawaiian- I walked in there with my 2 sons- as soon as we walked in we were told to order our food at the door entry. It would have been nice to be given a menu and a seat first.. but ok. Both kids order an appetizer- Lumpia .... fried eggroll of some sort not cooked crispy, not sure if the inside even got heated thru.. just odd- soggy and odd. I ordered one of the specialty beers and it was warm and flat!- and I was served by a young Spanish girl.. like 12 years old who did not seem happy at all.. again.. ODD! it was uncomfortable for me- I am a 5th grade teacher, so this was just odd. I didn’t complain, I mean how can I complain about my beer to a 12 year old! Next we order the Ahi- now being a bit of a sushi queen, I can tell you I know my fish!.. this fish was 100% NOT fresh- I sent it back letting the owner know that the fish was definitely not fresh in fact it smelled like it may be going bad.. That was what seemed to be the straw that broke the camel’s back! She took my plate away.. and that was it.. she never came back to my table, not with a fresh Ahi plate, or an offer of something else.. Just nothing. She NEVER came back to my table! At this point I decided to finish my beer and we would head over to Islands Café, where service and food is 5 star and Terry the owner there is AH-Mazing AND they are really a Hawaiian family, and customer service is genuine. The next turn of events left me in utter disgust.. before we left, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands- when I was getting ready to go in, MO came out- Mo is the other owner (big bald guy)-as he walked out of the bathroom he took his dripping hands, slid them down his pants in a terrible effort to dry them, Sneezed/ coughed on his hands and grabbed a plate of food and brought it to a customer!! And lastly .. Grand finale! Another young Spanish female came into the restaurant she was 13 and was apologizing for not getting there earlier- both mother and father (owners) were not having it.. they both really tore into her, and after some harsh words she went to the back in tears.. it was a sad visit at Homestyle Hawaiian and I will never go there again. I encourage anyone to peek in at yelp and look at some of the reviews, do your homework before you bring your family there.. It’s just not worth it..

The best authentic Hawaiian food Ive had in a long time! Affordable menu and great service! Ive eaten everything on the menu and the only thing I would recommend is that you tell them to make the eggs over medium if you order the loco moco style dish! My eggs were a little on the well side, and too crispy for me. Everything else has been delish! Oh, did I mention they have a Sushi Bar too? Great place and our kiddos love it too!

Perfect! An excellent menu that really delivers. The pork is the best I have ever tasted, and while I was skeptical to try things that seemed "non-Hawaiian", I was so happy with the kalbi and most especially the French-inspired Mahi-mahi in a perfect meuniere sauce with capers. The service was gracious, the beer and wine of really good variety and price, and I cant wait to go back. The guys in the kitchen deserve applause!

So delicious!!! We enjoyed everything! Our male server was lacking and left us without water or napkins for the duration of our meal. That said we did notice the other servers were on top of their customer service. My son got the katsu, my husband got the pork, and I got the fried musubi and kimchi. I honestly crave their food which is unusual for me. I thought about driving the 30 miles to them about 20 times today

Love the food and love the place! I live in Tierrasanta and its awesome to have a great restaurant in the neighborhood. Everything my wife and I ordered was soooo good. Better than L&L, even the macaroni salad was better. The service is spot on and servers are very friendly. To all my Tierrasanta neighbors, you must try this place.

So happy I found out about this location! I always went to the one near Mesa College, which has a more take-out vibe. This sit down restaurant was amazing! The ahi poke here comes with chips!! So good. I love all the items on the menu and they have such a large variety of beer and other alcohol beverages.

We had a great server who was happy to sit with us and take our time. I was indecisive with what I was ordering but he took his time talking me through what I want. He even helped me pick out my drink. They have a huge variety of beers and have high quality food.

Been here plenty of times plan on coming back plenty more. Foods on point. I love the pulled pork stuffed wontons. Plentiful size plate of Katsu chicken enough to eat and take home. Bartenders, staff and mgt are always pleasant, greeting me with smile.

I ordered the chicken combo with fried rice. Everything on my plate was scrumptious. The customer service was superb and I love their mission. The ambiance and natural light also contributed to an enjoyable dining experience. I will definitely be back.

The food here could wake you up from a good dream and you wouldnt mind a bit! If youre worried about service, dont be; my bruddah Jason is the strongest Server Ive ever seen, and youll have no worries. I guarantee it.

Great food, great service, mostly great food. The poke was a little chewy for my tastes, but everything else was great and their handling of our horrid bill splitting was amazing. Highly recommend!

The pork and chicken dishes are tasty. Could be a little more creative with the side dish offerings. Plates are large so you have plenty to take home for tomorrow. Very attentive customer service.

Spicy poke was delicious- we ordered a pound but it was less than a pound. Servers dont tell you about happy hour 3-6pm with $3 beers so head up !
