This is one of those places that you either love or hate. It is dark and dirty inside but it is the local go-to bar for the neighborhood. Weve been several times both on weeknights when the Bar Men have been playing and on random Sat afternoons. We much prefer when the band is playing but it is always a fun time and inexpensive drinks. You can get lost in this place for several hours. Most of the patrons are nice and we have never had a problem with anyone there. Staff is usually on top of it and we enjoy coming here once or twice a month just to grab a drink and hear great Irish music. We dont bring out of towers here but we would bring our neighbors!

Best bar in SD. Im torn about giving a good review because I dont want the place to lose the family feel it has. Its better than a dive bar, it has a family feel. People dont come here to pick up chicks. They dont come here to show off. They come here to drink and talk. And have a fun with the friends theyve made while throwing a couple cold ones back. Truth is they deserve the business, and if it blows up, the owners deserve it. Ill find another place to call home. Until then, its Blarney Stone Pub.

The San Diego beer seen is on fire. San Diego breweries win more awards at the World Beer Cup than Belgium and UK combined. But they have not one awesome San Diego beer at The Blarney Stone. The place is one, big sausage fest with crappy Mega-brewery beer. It is also very small and cramped. Not many women, and the women that do go there are rather beat-up. On the positive side the staff is nice, they have a steel tip dart board and some nights they have live Irish music.

I love Blarney Stone! Tucked in the back corner of the Balboa Shopping center (behind Vons) is a locals favorite irish pub. My favorite thing about this place is the darks board in the corner! they also make a good black & tan and drink prices are CHEAP! Friday/Sat there is live music and lots of theme nights - like rock band night! Its no thrills, never been remodeled (I dont believe), dark and divey and wonderful.

Blarney is a nice neighborhood bar with a cozy, vintage-looking, interior. The crowd here is generally nice and theres often live music. The drink selection isnt great, but there are some decent craft beers on tap and the bartender can make simple drinks. Come here to hang with a few friends, grab a drink before going home, or catch live music. They seem okay with bringing in food from outside.

Pleasant, relaxed Sunday folks conversing with friends and watching sports. Good pour of Guinness Stout here and very good selection of beers on tap for a relatively small bar. I plan to return for the Irish pub atmosphere and comfortable environment -- and to catch live music performances.

Unfriendly, rude, and judgmental bartender. Soon as I walked in, it was assumed that I had too much to drink and security was called for clarification. Then once cleared, cause I only had 1 drink at another bar, he served the wrong drink and then got mad!

Friendly environment. They always have live music. Prices are lower than you would expect. The only thing that makes it a dive is the smell of urine and humidity. If you go take a scented candle or a gas mask.
