Im really surprised to see so many people say that they love this place. The food is pretty good and they do have a great selection. This place could really great spot, but they really lack in customer service. Iv actually never experienced worse customer service at any establishment iv ever been to in my life. The first time i walked in i stood there for a few minutes waiting to be acknowledged by someone. I finally flagged someone down and asked to place a takeout order and she told me to go to the other counter. I sat at the other counter for 5-10 minutes waiting for a woman to make a couple coffees someone had just ordered. Maybe it was her first day.......I dont know. In the meantime more people are coming inside and about 3 people are standing in line behind me, while other employees that arent doing anything proceed to walk by without saying a word. Since for some reason the lady behind the counter was the only person capable of writing down an order and walking it to the kitchen, she did so and told me it would be about 10 minutes. I wasnt thrilled since i had just waited 10 minutes to order. That was the first time i went there and told myself i wouldnt go back. I decided to give it another shot and went back to receive the same service. This time i called in my order because i didnt want to deal with the same experience all over again. I walked in and knew i was going to have to flag someone down so i did and asked to pickup my order. The lady directed me to the counter again and another woman answers the phone as she is helping me. She never excused herself or asked me to hold on. She handed me a receipt while taking an order over the phone. They were busy so i understood that multitasking was necessary. I signed the receipt and handed it back to her. She hangs up the phone and starts rummaging around with some papers. I stood there for about 2 minutes while this was going on, wondering if she was going to say anything. Instead she just walked away without saying a word. I stood there for a couple more minutes kind of feeling like an idiot. Other employees are walking by as if they dont see me standing there. I figured my order should be ready since it was well after the time that they had given me on the phone. Finally the same lady walked by back and i said "umm.. do you have any idea when my order will be ready?". She responded "maybe about 5 minutes". So i sat down thinking that there was no way that anyone was going to remember that i was sitting there waiting for an order, but i had already paid so i couldnt really leave. A few minutes later she did bring me my order. The food was great but there are a lot of places to eat breakfast in Sacramento. Convenience may no longer play a factor for me if the service is this poor. I was really blown away by how bad it was. I dont expect much when when I walk in to a place of business. Acknowledging my existence however, would be much appreciated.

@RiversEdgeFan Monday morning at 11:11am I arrived. Nothing looked palatable on the breakfast menu. Lots of options with hashbrown assortment. A whole bunch of hashbrown offerings. No biscuits and gravy. I settled for the classic burger. With Swiss cheese. I was parched. Thirsty. In desperate need of beverage. Iced tea with lemon and H2o were ordered. I immediately finished them both before ordering the meal. Wait staff took my order and did not even offer to refill my beverages. It wasnt even busy. Tables were being cleared. Staff walked by several times. No beverage refills. Staff sat at the bar and snacked and chatted. I sat and waited quite a while before refills were made. They were finally filled AFTER my burger was delivered. The atmosphere was hip and very well lit with natural light through many big windows. It was pretty quiet with music playing softly. The patio was large but not shaded. A couple of tables has umbrellas. Burger was supposed to be cooked to medium. It was well done. The bun was toasted. French fries were crispy and hot. There were three different hot sauces available at the table. That was nice. My beverages were finished again and never refilled a third time. I waited a long time, with empty plate in fron of me, before the check arrived. Overall I was not impressed in the slightest. I am open to exploring local businesses instead of chain restaurants. Staff seemed distracted and were very inattentive. While glad I tried this option I will not return. I recommend trying it once. Hopefully to a better experience. You may be glad you did hopefully maybe.

First trip in my new neighborhood to this diner was good with high prices. Second time was a looooong wait and high prices. Today we were seated quickly which was great because we had a shortage of time and I was hungry but the goodness ended there. I only wanted a cup of soup and my friend wanted a milk shake which we planned to split because he had just eaten. We explained this to the waitress. I asked for a fruity tea if they had one and plain tea would be fine if they didnt. Someone else brought us two small milkshakes and my tea but the soup never showed up after 30 minutes although there were only three other couples eating. We asked for the tab. $12.80! The waitress explained that she knew we had only asked for one milkshake but since we both drank them we would have to pay. To make us happier though, she agreed to not charge us for the soup she never brought. Golly, thanks. I asked to see the manager and she WAS the manager. There wont be a third trip to this diner.

Being a local resident of the neighborhood since 1978, I was thrilled when Rivers Edge opened and have eaten there a good number of times over the years. I love the ease of location, parking and ambiance. It has been a great addition to the neighborhood. However, I have sadly found myself rejecting coming back over and over, opting to go elsewhere for breakfast. As we tend to eat breakfast out often, I am sorry to feel disappointment over the expense, that the menu doesnt justify. Now having recently become a senior on a fixed income, consideration of a meaningful discount that would encourage seniors to make it a special destination for breakfast, etc, would be welcomed. Sorry about the down note. We would like to make your restaurant a real consideration again. Happy holidays, B Kaplan

First, Dont get me wrong the service was good, however the servers could practice making eye contact and smiling more, even if its not their table. That is simply good customer service. Otherwise, the food is good, the prices are good. I ordered fruit and cottage cheese and it was enough for 3 people to share. I also have had the country fried steak, aside from them not cutting the hard gristle off the edge, it was very delicious. My favorite is the stuffed hash browns. They are huge and tasty. I think it is a nice, clean place. They have a good variety of breakfast food but the lunch is great too. I think it is well worth the price and I will be visiting often.

We have been to this restaurant 2 months ago. We had breakfast there. The potatoes were not cooked. We sent them back more than 3 times. It was still not cooked. We finally just gave up. Since we live so near this restaurant, we thought we should give it a try again. We went for lunch and ordered Philly chese steak and Enchiladas blancas. The beef was a disaster. A lot of fat and very chewy. Enchiladas were very small and a lot of creamy chese on top. We are very disapointed and I think we were fair because we brought ourself the second time to the restaurant even though the first time was bad.
