Dont let the kitschy exterior fool you. This is not a nostalgic step back in time. My friend and I came here to try the breakfast because, dude, it has Circus in the name. Yeah, well, it is definitely a circus on the inside but a circus of DEPRESSING PEOPLE DOWN ON THEIR LUCK, grimy surfaces, and the food that could trigger a prison riot if it was served to an inmate popualtion. We were seated at a table that had not even been wiped down and goddamnit, there goes egg yolk on the sleeve of my freshly cleaned hoodie. The menu was grossly overpriced and looking around at the other plates of food we saw wasted money in our future. We promptly got up, excused ourselves and walked past row after row of gloomy patrons sipping coffe and poking at underdone eggs and burnt breakfast meat. The patrons there all looked like they belonged on a police lineup and my hand shot into my pocket to keep a tight grip on my wallet out of primal instinct. Stepping back outside the air quality changed 200% for the better. Dont go to the Circus, youre only going to get clowned for your time and money.

I Hadnt Been Here Since I Was A Kid And Thought It Would Be a Good Place To Get Breakfast. As A Kid I Remmebered It Being Such A Fun Place To Go With My Family. Unfortunately It Was Not What I Remebered It. When I Came This Time I Saw That Most People Eating Were Elderly Folks. After Getting A Table And Looking Over The Menu I Decided To Opt Out Of The Pancakes And Get An Actual Meal. My Eggs Came Out Under Cooked And The Rest Of My Food Tasted Very Plain. At Check Out I Told The Cashier About My Experience And She Told Me That They Cater More To Older Customers And Thats Why The Food Was Not Seasoned And She Comped Me My Juice. It Was A Nice Gesture But I Wont Eating Here Again.

This was a go to place for our family for about 15 years. Great owners my girls knew all the wait staff. It was just a fun place to go especially with kids. Now its 2016 and its best days are behind it. The prices are high compared to the competition. The food quality has gone downhill. There are a few things on the menu that are still good but its not enough to come here anymore. Most of the old time wait staff has retired or moved on. The service is still good though. The "always" full cup of coffee still brings a smile.

Just detestable food, dated and grimy interior, rude service, very ugly social element sitting at the other tables. The quality of food does not justify the high menu prices. Everything on my plate was rubbery in my mouth. most people there looked poor and distasteful. I dont think I saw anyone in there who had bathed recently. Walked up and saw a waitress smoking right next to the entrance. I think they are okay with food stamps to pay your bill here. Gross. A real low class dining establishment.

Horrible customer service from the lady at the front counter. I called in before I arrived. It was my first time ordering so I had no idea what wa$on the menu. I asked if she could suggest a meal served w/ hotcakes and she gave silence as if I asked her about parabolas. Anywho. She did not say thank you nor did she apologize for the confusion in my order. Thumbs down for customer service.

1966 is alive and very well thank you! On a whim my daughter and I went here for breakfast and loved it. I had a meat omelette and she had a triple stack of chocolate chip pancakes. Our food was perfect and served quickly and cheerfully by the great staff. Very clean, but hasnt been updated since the Nixon administration and I suggest they dont start now. All good clowns here!

Reminds me of old neighorhood breakfast places in San Francisco. Crowded, small place with dated decor. About a 15 minute wait on a Saturday morning. The food had a slight hint of the natural gas smell even though it tasted good. Service was good. The country potatoes and pancakes were good. Weak, bland coffee, small eggs.

I know the tables with ads were getting sticky and had to be updated by refinishing the tops. Looks good but I miss the look. The staff is always pleasant. Food has always been good. I like the nostalgia that has always been a part of the restaurant but it does need a thorough detail dust and clean.

Another Sacramento landmark eatery. The decor is straight out of the 60s-70s but thats part of the charm. The menu is straightforward breakfast platters and the pancakes are comforting. There are also well-priced steaks and sandwiches.

I was very happy for when the omelet arrived, I was not sure if I could finish it. Cooked very nicely. Service was good as well. The atmosphere was a bit old but satisfactory.

Very dirty building, the vents have a lot of dirt on them them. The waitress seemed bummed to be there. The food was your basic greasy slop. It was my first and last time.

No nonsense irreverent waitstaff. Great short stacks with whipped butter. Coffee topped off faithfully. Old school diner feel. Booths. The best America has to offer really.

Cold pancakes. Uncooked eggs. Grudging refills. No comment when I walked away from the counter with an uneaten plate of food. Ive got better places to spend my dough.

Excellent greasy spoon joint. Good chicken fried steak and pancakes come with everything. A great place to stop on the way back from Lake Tahoe to the Bay Area.

To tell you the truth, I just stop for coffee while waiting for a meeting. Place is outdated and looks down. However, service was nice and coffee was decent.

Best waitress left after 27 years of service, apparently management Didnt value her; plus, the food is just ok. The cooks need to take their job serious.

Great food and service! Some areas could use a fresh coat of paint though. Also, if you have Coulrophobia then maybe another diner should be considered.

What a fun place to have breakfast with the family. The lemon meringue pancake stack was sooooo tasty. The kids in your group will love the kitchen decor.

Great food, great service at an affordable price, and NOT a corporate chain! Big Merican portions. Dont forget to tip the hard working staff.

3.5 stars. Pancakes were really good but the country potatoes were bland and a bit flavorless. Other than that I really liked the place

Sub-par diner food - great prices... weird atmosphere. Creepy clowns and knock-off disney characters --- its a disturbing experience.
