So, I decided I wanted to go to The Black Bear Diner on Bond Rd in Elk Grove for a Mothers Day breakfast. With this being my very first time to eat at this restaurant and having heard great things I was very excited. Got there at about 9:20 AM and requested a table for 3 was told it was going to be an hour wait. It’s Mother’s day everywhere you go is going to be an hour wait or more so that was no biggie and if you know me it can sometimes take me that long to decide what I want and their menu oh my goodness from the breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices everything sounded good. Well we got seated and Adriana was our waitress and from the minute we sat down she was just on it, friendly, informative, pleasant, so sweet sugar wouldn’t have melted in her mouth, and attentive. I wondered to myself and to my family if she was always like this. And, what did the wonderful man in my life do to me, totally put me on the spot with her saying that I had a question for her. So, I turned to her an asked “Are you always this, so happy so sweet?” She looked at me and said “When at home not all the time, but when I’m here yes, I love my job and love meeting new people hopefully making them full happy and smile.” I was all 3 full (with leftovers), happy, and smiling. Adriana I’ll come back to Black Bear Diner and you are a major part of causing that. Thanks for helping my Mother’s Day so special.

Ive been to Blackbear three times now. The firat two times were fine but the last time was terrible. Came in with my 20 month old daughter at 9:30 am in a Thursday. I was not busy (nor was it slow). It took over 10 mins to get an order in after I said I was ready to order. Another waitress actually saw us waiting and ended up getting our drinks. Moving forward, I order my ONE plate and had asked to get the eggs out as soon as possible to feed my daughter. I did not get my food until 40 mins later. Other tables, who came in after me received their food before me. One thing I saw with our waitress was that when she finally took my order, she walked over to 4 other tables to grab them drinks and their orders. When she was finally done she then entered all the orders in at once, possibly entering mine in last. So instead of getting an order for 1 and a child first, food came out for a table of 7, 5, 4 and 2 before mine. Im a very patient person but making my 20 mo old daughter wait that long makes me very mad. Will think twice before considering coming back as my go-to diner

I got to say I was a little disappointed with the service today normally everybody is very friendly courteous an expedient but today we had to wait a long time to get cordial service it was polite but there was no friendliness nor excitement. On top of that this gentleman had painted nails Im all for having a fashion sense or a way to express yourself but in the food industry it sends the wrong message I was just glad that the food Runner was the one that brought me my food and he wasnt. When it comes to customer service or any position we are providing something in addition to what the customer is buying it doesnt matter what you feel youre presenting to them it matters what they perceive of you and thats important this is a diner attends to bring an old-fashioned audience and there are some things in todays society that an older generation find it hard to feel comfortable Im not saying its wrong Im just saying in order to be successful in this industry or tips are important to all people its important to give the customer the perception that they expect

I tried the new chicken fried in panko. The chicken was chewy and gross. It came with mashed potatoes on the bottom, I got no option of an additional side. Our server was attentive as a server should be. But, the other wait staff congregated around the register and talked the entire time we dined. The waiter with the man bun, did a halfass job at cleaning the booth across from us. He cleaned the side closest to the door. The side he didnt wipe off had visable chewed up food and garbage all over. We didnt have the proper eating utensils. It was all bad... Ive eaten at several black bear diners. I will not return to this one, nor recommend it to anyone I know. The shelves for the bear merchandise were nearly empty. It was my birthday and I wanted a souviner. Very disappointed!

Felt like I was invisible. Ordered over the phone. Got there, BIG sign said phone order pick up. Cool, stand there no one acknowledge I was there. About 5 minute went by, while 7 different staff walked by not one asked if I was helped. I went and asked is this where we pick up phone order? Lady, said yes. While she was looking for my order, a customer came up and she decides to help them now. Then another, she went and helped them, while I was still standing there. Then she came back to me, again as soon as someone else came up they where help first again. Finally bagged my items, ready to pay. Another customer came up, again she stop helping me and went to help them. Just better service would be nice.

The Black Bear dinner in Elk Grove has to get their kitchen staff on the same page or hire more competent people. This is the second time my husband and I have come to this location, and both times our orders were messed up. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because of the awesome customer service we received from the server JO and manager on duty MELANIE. They were both wonderful, polite, and so apologetic! We had nice conversations with both of them, that made the fact that I left without eating my dinner really not that bad. We may or may not ever return to this location, but if we do, it will be thanks to JO and MELANIE!

Excellent food and excellent customer service! You may have to wait in line on weekends to get seated, but its worth it. We had breakfast here a on their opening weekend and were impressed with their excellent service. The waitress was so friendly and courteous. Though they had one of our orders wrong (and we didnt even realize it!), but waitress apologized and the manager had the initiative not to charge us for the meal -- yes, the whole meal! We saved $50 and basically ate for free. However, more importantly, that move and service won our loyalty, and Im sure it won others as well. Highly recommended!

Its most greasy food I ever tasted. I work out 5 times a week and I mention that if they can make egg white omelette and that it would cost more money because of the egg white. Please people skip this unhealthy garbage, cause when you get out of the restaurant you look like the "oopa loopa" from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was only 1 in good shape while looking around i saw nothing but unhealthy ready to fall of their chair with so much garbage food. This will my 1st and my last. I will stick to Chipolte and Urban Eats. I rather die healthy than unhealthy
