If youre not familiar with Original Mels, its the Di er featured in the movie "American Graffiti". The interior has a modernized 50s vibe to it. In diner tradition, the restaurant is open 24 hours a day Food-wise, the fare is comparable to any other diner - sandwiches, burgers, a limited breakfast menu (there are more breakfast options in the mornings) The difference is the quality of the food, and the quality of the staff. You just cant compare their food to someplace like, say, Dennys. Its simple a tier or two above. If youre traveling through some place that has a Mels, I highly recommend going a little out of the way to stop rather than choosing any place else.

Service was great .Our second visit..first time burger and food was bland or no flavor even with cheese , fries had rancent tastes . Decided to give second chance. Really cant mess up breakfast Well the cook did. Chicken fried steak was small and over cooked, almost burnt and tough with two tablespoons of gravy. Hash browns were over cooked also. Nice looking but was even crispy on the inside, left on too long. Also food had that old oil taste. Asked for over medium eggs ..recieved not even over easy eggs. White and clear uncooked eggs. WILL NOT TRY A THIRD TIME

American Graffiti posters everywhere. Great old Diner feel and I always put the 25¢ in the Jukebox to play some old tunes in this reminiscent of the sixties restaurant. Nice place for a burger and a milkshake. I ordered a pastrami sandwich with some curly fries and some fried zucchini. The zucchini sticks were huge, dipped in ranch... yummy. The food is usually very good and the service is far above average. Fun place to take your kids , theyll be served chicken strips in a hot rod paper car.

Normally this place is pretty good but tonights visit was not so good. Overall the service was quite slow which was ok because we werent in a hurry. My wifes grilled cheese didnt even have the cheese melted. She sent it back to get it made properly. My food showed up cold but I never send it back for fear of special sauce being added. Hopefully they get these issues sorted out before our next visit.

The best coffee ever. The only thing is, the last time we ate here the other day, we had scrambled eggs from the box, not from the fresh ones. When i asked the staff, she said she knows nothing about any change on anything on terms of their menu ... It s either that they been serving us scrambled eggs from the box for years that we didnt know about , that taste fresh or that they really changed it.

The staff is always incredibly friendly, the food is pretty good and orders are made accurately. They only negative is they are slow as molasses. Dont stop here if youre in a hurry. Other than that its a good little restaurant especially in the middle of the night when nothing else is open.

I asked for crispy bacon and hash browns, eggs over easy. Bacon was raw and potatoes had no crunch. Yolk was hard in eggs. Our waiter was wonderful and he tried to relate to the cook that my order was awful. Told the management that they needed a new cook.

Great service and good food selection. Had the fried chicken and it was a bit dry. Looks like they put all the pieces in at the same time and the breast gets done in a longer period than the drumstick and wing.

New management needs work very mean to there employees who dont speak very good English. Steals their tips. Very poor customer service from a couple of there employee (waitress) but the food is Great!!

I personally love Mels for the atmosphere. Its a diner so the food isnt anything to die for but its a great place to hang out with friends. Grilled cheese comes with fries. My personal favorite dish.

It was ok, the wait wasnt long. Its good to go in the morning. Everything was fine except the waitress did take a long time to refill drinks and got the orders messed up.

Had a great experience. Staff was friendly and the waiter was awesome and quick. $6.99 steak eggs and hash browns with 4 slices of sourdough toast. Cant beat that price.
