The first couple times I came to Black Bear in Roseville the service was great the food was great after that it went all downhill the service suck and the food suck and it was cold. My nephew and his fiance visit this place a week ago she is 5 months pregnant so things bother her more than normal when she got her eggs and hashbrowns the eggs were runny she asked politely if they could cook them more because she was pregnant and couldnt eat it that way she was very nice about it so they brought it back to the table and she started eating she got full so she took it home when she got home and started to eat her hash browns she found a big loogie in the middle of them somebodys spit in her food she started vomiting she showed her fiance my nephew and they were disgusted by it she couldnt even talk about it she didnt even want to call them to complain because it makes her throw up thinking about it. I told her i would have went back there and raised hell with the mangagement then I would raise hell with the people in the kitchen they are the most disgusting people I know how can you spit in anybodys food especially somebody that is pregnant. I will never go to Black Bear Diner again they lost my service and my family and friends service because of this.

We drove from Elk Grove to three sister café on Mothers day and to our disappointed that place had 3 hour wait line. So we decided to go Black bear diner. I called to make reservation and they said it was 1.5 hour wait which was much better for 26 people in my party. It was right across so we decided for there for brunch. Anyways, we waited and they managed to sit us on separate tables within the same area. On mothers day they gave all the mothers roses. And they had a bear walking around talking to everyone at the restaurant and taking pictures with the kids. My daughter was excited to see the bear and she took pictures. Overall the service was a little slow. But they were good at refilling cofffees. . In the menu it said, ice cream for kids after 11am and the waitress did not offer. At the end of the brunch, when we were able to leave the kids remembered that were suppose to get ice cream. The waitress said we didnt ask so thats why she didnt offer. Food portion is a little big. And the food is okay.

Sometimes we get really hungry , this is the place to go for huge portion sizes. The very pleasant Hostess recommended, the special of the day, steak and eggs. It came with 4 pieces of toast and hash browns and two eggs at a very reasonable price. The friendly costumed black bear character stands and waves on the corner seducing its next victims into the restaurant. I always wave back, its got to get hot in that suit. You can see the restaurant as you drive by Stanford Ranch and Fairway corner. I have eaten here no less than 20 times. The cute decorations, the friendly staff the good food keeps me coming back for more. If you wake up for a late lunch on Saturday or late Sunday brunch expect a wait to get seated.

The food gets way more stars than does the service. Way too slow from a food service prospective although Im not sure where this started. It well could have been the kitchen staff was slow to make and plate breakfast while it could just as easily have been a slow/inexperienced server. Either way food took too long and way too many forgotten items...had to remind server for pancakes for sons and asked for and never received a refill on my wifes soda. My coffee was refilled just once. Like I said, the food was good and the portions were tremendous. Ill give the one their building in Citrus Heights a chance because of the food, but I doubt Ill ever make the return trip to this Roseville location.

Im one who believes in giving positive feed back so this is my 1st negative review on this site. To start this Black Bear diner was out of almost every breakfast meat conceivable ( bacon, sausage links, and even hash browns). Then we heard the waitress arguing with the cook and it sounded like they were even out of ham. After 45 min of waiting we got up and left. This Black Bear and manager and staff are by far the worst experience EVER! It was so bad I told my wife that they should have never opened for business if they were out of the bulk of food. We will Never ever return to this location. They dont even deserve the one star I gave them to write this review.

Waitress was friendly but gave my wife a coffee cup that was dirty and had lipstick on it. Her Patty Melt had no flavor and was missing onions. The rye bread was tasty. My corned beef hash was not what I expected. A pile of lukewarm corned beef strips with lukewarm hash browns on the side. The eggs werent seasoned and the beef wasnt either. I fear all of the protein was left over from the prior night. First and possibly last time. May try the new location in Citrus Heights because its close but really dont need a 5th hamburger shop in 2 blocks.

I go to BlackBear often, with my husband, to meet up with friends, meet up with family, etc. My husband goes there at least every other week to meet up with his dad. We love this place. We always get great food, great service, great atmosphere, very clean and well kept environment. I have never found anything I dont like about this restaurant. I especially like that they offer flavored creamer for my coffee and not just the bland standard half and half most places do. Its the little things that make a difference to me.

Didnt even get to try the food. We were seated and shortly after 3 other parties were seated and helped before us. We never even got water or acknowledged after our initial seating. We walked out after waiting another 5 minutes of no acknowledgement. I was looking forward to trying out Black Bear Diner since Ive heard so many good reviews. Im sure the food is great but quality of service is the most vital asset to any place of business. I dont believe in supporting businesses with poor service.

The absolute best chain restaurant for breakfast! I personally think they are better than most places I have been for breakfast in my life. Breakfast is my favorite meal so thats how I judge restaurants. The service is exceptional, admittedly when they are slammed the service isnt as far above average but they all still maintain an amazing fun friendly environment. I have had many special requests on my trips here and they have always accommodated me, often at no extra charge.

This restaurant is clean, cozy, very reasonably priced, and has excellent food with generous portions. I love coming here nearly every Sunday, and almost always get the Tri Tip Dip with mash potatoes and country gravy which is absolutely fantastic. Service is good, the place isnt too busy, and its usually fairly quiet. If Freddy Mercury is your waiter then hell take care of you very well - guy is a champ.
