The first time I went I had a great experience. I went last night and wont be going again. Maybe it was because I was there 30 minutes before closing, but service was bad. Im allergic to guacamole, I explained this to the server. My food comes out with guacamole. Not to big of a deal except I pointed this out and my food still had guacamole in it the second time they came back with it. I asked for a to go box, ten minutes later I had to walk up to the counter to ask a different server for a to go box and my bill. Like I said, the first time I went here it was great and Im saddened this experience made it so I wont come back again.

Excellent service, reasonable prices... but most importantly: excellent excellent food. Generally mexican restaurants are "ok" or bad. Some of the other reviews mentioned quality food, care in preparation etc. Of the four of us, none had anything that was less than a 12 on a scale of 10. A mexican food Maxims of Paris. They really do care about the quality of what they serve. Very much not another chain mexican food restaurant. No question - now our "go-to" restaurant when were in the area. Such a very pleasant/delightful surprise.

Everything was as good as it gets...service, food and hospitality....family owned and ran...family pride shows. Did I say...food was awesome? Well it is...worth repeating. And no, Im not related..lol! My 1st time going...been wanting to go before but lines were to long for the wait. Across from Loves gas station just off 99, next to Save Mart super market. GIve it at least one try if any...youll be hooked for the next time for sure! Merry Christmas everyone!

We had the pleasure of visiting Esmeraldas today. Food is excellent; service superb and the staff is first class. We have eaten Mexican food all over the US (Texas, New Mexico, Florida etc. etc.). and this restaurant is as good as it gets. The Burrito Supreme with chile relleno inside and green sauce is out of this world. We had the honor of being served by Esmeralda who is charming and attentive. We will be back!! Alan & Nicky

This place was great with friendly staff and great food, had the jumbo shrimp appetizer that turned out to be a meal served with lettuce green peppers onions avocado topped with 6 jumbo shrimp butterfly cut cooked in butter and garlic, along with homemade chips salsa and bean dip, also enjoyed Ripon tacos with carnitas, also have an excellent variety of agave tequilas, I will make this my regular stop when passing through

It might be good but today service was poor we sat over 40 minutes for them to take are order, when the food finally showed up 3 out 4 orders were made wrong but being hungry we ate it anyhow for it was over a hour before we finally saw our order even when it was wrong. Overall this experience will be my last here. The other reveiws must be people that work here

This is absolutely the best! Have been coming here for over 2 years. The food is always top notch, and the service is outstanding. I have had the manager come to the table when he is in every time to make sure that everything is okay. The chips and salsa are always good, and the cabbage salsa is a nice change from the ordinary. Two thumbs up!

The "tortillas hechas a mano" are the best, especially with my favorites Algondigas (Mexican meatball soup), menudo and pozole. Sabroso y delicioso!

Good food but the tails were left on my shrimp in a soup which usually doesnt happen . The fish burrito was so drowned in sauce you couldnt taste the fish and the fish was bredded. There was a few short cuts but for the price it was worth it. I would go back just because of the price but you get what you pay for here.

Food great is always great but the service is always mediocre. You always seem to wait a very long time to get drinks or order. When the server does get to you they are always very kind. They just always seem to be short staffed. In the end it is always worth it because the food is that good and decently priced.

Ive eaten here 4 times & every time the food just keeps getting better and better. This time I had CHILEQUILLAS (not sure the spelling is correct) totally different than the ones I was raised eating. Thanks to my daughter Cheryl for introducing me to Esmeraldas . I live in San Jose well worth the drive.

BEST Mexican food restaurant! Food is excellent. Staff is friendly. My husband has special dietary restrictions and the staff works with him to prepare the food he can eat. No complaints ever. Highly recommended. Plus, free chips, salsa and Bean dip.

This place was great seat your self and very quickly the wait staff comes to greet you and bring chips and salsa. Very extensive menu with every type of Mexican food a and low prices to boot. Must be a area favorite spot for dinner as it was full.

Come here often with my parents. Service is friendly and takes care of us well. Lunch specials are a good value. The burritos are good, I usually go for the chile relleno with green sauce. My mom is a fan of the chicken soup and the sope.

Check this place out. There are quite a few Mexican restaurants in Ripon and in my opinion this is the best one. Also, they are expanding their dining room into the suite next door so thats a good sign that theyre doing well as a business.

This is my favorite sit down Mexican food restaurant. Its dang near taco truck status.. Their nachos? The best I have ever had in my life. The service is great and the waitresses are very helpful as well. I highly recommend this place!

Whenever my kids come home to visit we always eat in or take out at Esmeralda. All 5 of or kids make it a point to eat here when they come home. They especially love the Taco Truck Tacos. Thank you Esmeraldas for cooking for me.

Had the carnitas dinner plate . Meat was tender moisture was good , no taste at all had to add the bland guacamole and some salt . I WOULD GO AS FAR AS SAYING ITS THE BEST . Xochilmilco in Stockton well worth the wait and drive

Pretty good food. Was hoping it would be a different cheese on my burrito (traditional instead of queso) but look forward to trying more dishes when Im back in town. Liked the different style chips and inclusion of bean dip.

Esmeraldas has awesome food and delicious margaritas. And Esmeralda is there to be your server. Sometimes the wait is long, but because its so good that the whole town is there.
