The food was delicious, however when charging $29 a plate, I think the dish should contain what the menu says. I ordered the seabass topped w crabmeat, rock shrimp & a tarragon cream sauce on the menu for $28. The sea bass was actually halibut which to me I preferred it, but I think they should make it clear your dish may or may not be what you order, and they may chose to leave off components. For instance there was ONE 1/2" by 1/4" mangled piece of crab on top of the fish and 3 very tiny rock shrimp or baby shrimp off the side of it. I dont know if I would have ordered a $28 piece of fish, that I was charged $29 for, had I known it really wasnt going to be topped with crabmeat and shrimp. My complaint was responded with "its in the sauce". That is not what the menu stated. So it seems to me there is an arrogance of they will serve you what they want, how they want, and charge what they feel like charging. Also, my friend could only find ONE caper in her caper sauce. My fish was cooked perfectly, the creamy and rich risotto along with greens and balsamic was nicely balanced and pretty to look at. My friend enjoyed her shrimp scampi, the shrimp were large with beautiful color. I would eat there again, but will be less trusting. Oh, dont expect the mango ice tea to taste much like mango, or tea for that matter. But at least they dont charge a lot for that.

After being seated we waited over 20 minutes for a server to come by. I asked if anyone was willing to take our order. We watched another table get seated with 6 guest that came in after we were there for 10 minutes. There orders taken and drinks had been served before she came past out table. She said our table was not her responsibility, but she would come back for our order. We waited another 4 minutes and she asked for our drink order first. We all wanted water and I asked for NO lemon along with 2 Stella beers. When she returned she had 4 waters all with lemon and the 2 beers. I said I wanted no lemon in my water, so she took the lemon out of my water with her fingers and set it in front of me and said that should be fine now. I said I wanted a glass with no lemon on it or in the water. She finally brought a fresh glass of water. We all ordered a salad that was very good. This was our first time here and also our last. The worst service I have ever received from a restaurant in my 70 years of dinning. This is also my first time I have ever reviewed a restaurant.

Based on other reviews we decided to give it a try last Friday night. Our dinner started when a soda was spilled into my lap, we then waited 20 minutes for the waitress to ask for our order. Ribs good, burgers too. Would have been nice for a manager to stop by and use some well deserved public relations.... no show by anyone. Service overall was lacking. Went back tonight Tuesday ordered Mac & cheese..good, co- worker ordered the special rib eye, which was the worst steak hes ever had. To complain to the manager we had to listen to our server yell at us first. When talking to the manager, she asked if we lived nearby, she found out we were from out of town then we were asked to leave and never come back or she would call the police. Good food, bad steaks, terrible staff, horrible management.....after tonights experience, what would make the manager think we would ever want to go back...

I have often struggled with independent restaurants in the Central Valley because it can be very hit and miss. I move out this way from Oakland, and have been generally disappointed with the lack of good quality food in very affluent areas. Chilis and Chevys are not my definition of fine dining. So I was very impressed when I took my family to eat at the Canal Street Grill in Ripon. For a dollar or two more than Chilis, you can get food that is twice as good. I ordered a Tuna Melt and my wife ordered a wedge salad. Both were delicious, with the thin style fries being a highlight. The wine list is also quiet interesting with a flair for the unique. The Bordeuax I ordered off the list was priced right at retail. Nice! The Canal Street Grill is definitely one of the best restaurants visible from a freeway.

Never tried this place until last night. Went with friends for a birthday celebration and although the parking lot was almost empty, we were told wed have to wait 5 - 10 minutes for a table by the now we saw her and never again hostess. After 10 minutes I walked from the lobby into the restaurant only to find several tables empty. I asked for a manager - a man indicated he was the manager although he was waiting on tables. He said they had a large catering order that prevented them from seating or serving us. Very poor answer - we could have been informed so but to leave us unattended in the lobby without explanation is inexcusable. We left never to return to this poorly managed place.

Its all about the Fish Tacos for me! Served on Fridays only though. The tacos taste like they pulled the fish out of the water and put it on my plate. I visit casually and for business lunch meetings. Its a very nice place to sit down and communicate, as the sound level is very nice. I dont like loud dinning places, which seems to be trendy right now. I hear a lot of people saying they have always want to stop and try the place, but never got around to it. Let me make up your mind for you, your going to Canal Street Grille for dinner.

This is THE place to eat and or have a drink in the area. Nice selection of draft beers. Well stocked bar with some special finds. Excellent pricing on the extensive wine list. I have eaten here at least a hundred times and have never been disappointed. I have attended and hosted several large group events here and every time all aspects are top notch. Service is always excellent and friendly as well. My "go to place" for a great meal and drink in an adult setting.

After 3 attempts and then 2 more (because my wife asked me to give it more chances) I will not go back to the restaurant. The bar and apps are good and good service, but the restaurant is nothing short of horrible. Worst service in Ripon! Burnt food, understaffed, cold food, and beyond slow service! Expect to wait 50-60 minutes for food after waiting 10-30 minutes to get into a half empty room!

A couple of good things first. I like the ambiance and the food that was served to others looked quite tasty. Unfortunately we never got our food even after walking in through door 56 minutes prior to leaving hungry. Not sure what happened but the manager didnt seem too interested in the issue and that is what bothered us most. Too bad, looks like a nice place.

Service was friendly and we had everything we needed. The prices do not match the quality of food nor the dirty floors. The restaurant presented it self well until we sat at our table and I could see vegetables, paper and other little balls of who knows what. The food was ok but in no way was it worth what we paid.
