I dont see many places selling lobster rolls in the bay area aside from SF so its awesome that theres one here that has such great reviews! Finally got to see what the hype was all about! The restaurant is small with a couple of tables that sit groups of 6 and maybe if you squeeze, you can fit 8. The cash register is in the middle of the restaurant and you line up to order before sitting down. The line is usually pretty long and goes out the door which blocks people from leaving the restaurant, this can get annoying. Aside from that, the menu is pretty straightforward. GET THE LOBSTER ROLL. There are two different types of lobster rolls you can get: NAKED and MAINE lobster roll. The Maine lobster roll has more dressing and celery bits in it, and the naked is really just what the name implies. I couldnt choose so I got the double play which lets you try both lobster roll at the same time! Its slightly cheaper than ordering both individually, so if youre indecisive might as well get this. Each roll is about $19 bucks on its own and the double play is $35.00. You also get fries and coleslaw with the sandwiches :) Naked Lobster roll: I LOVED THIS SANDWICH. The lobster was the absolute star of the sandwich. It was very refreshing and tasty. The sandwich is small but packed with chunks of lobster, and the bread was toasted to buttery perfection and it complimented the lobster so well. I was happy that the lobster wasnt dressed with any sauce because the bread had enough butter already. But if you wanted more taste, they do put the mayo and butter on the side. Maine Lobster roll: Delicious! I really liked the sandwich but I preferred the Naked lobster roll over the maine one. I thought the sandwich had a lot of flavor but it was predominantly creamy and rich. The Maine lobster roll has the lobster mixed with mayo so with the buttery bread, it was a little much. But if you love mayo and the rich and creamy taste with lobster, this roll is for you, plus there is green onions in it! I also got to try the New England Clam Chowdah and that was delicious! The soup was packed with flavor and giant chunks of clams :D Their chowdah is not as thick as other chowders im used to, this was more like a soup. The lobster mac and cheese was also good, it was decadent. They gave a decent amount lobster but the dish was a little small for $20 bucks. Overall this place was awesome! definitely would love to come back again if Im in the mood for some lobster rolls :)

I was disappointed by my last visit. The food was not up to previous standards. The people running the place were nice as usual. The service and atmosphere were good for the type of place it is but its really the food you come here for. I grew up by the ocean so past visits always brought back memories of trips to the beach and stopping on the way back for some fried clams or a lobster roll. I had steamed clams, clam chowder, and a crab roll. The chowder was good as usual. The clams werent fresh and the crab tasted like it was either frozen or came out of a can. Probably frozen. In fairness, I could have sent the clams back. No excuse for the crab roll, though. When you charge as much as they do its reasonable to expect consistency. I might go back but not until Ive tried some other places first. Update 8/20/11 - Came back again. First impressions: Ive been in lots of places that charge half as much for a meal and they at least come to your table to take your order. As I waited in line to give my order there were people complaining about their orders being wrong and one table sending food back because it was cold. Poor guy in front of me got fed up and left before they could take his order. Didnt want to take any chances this time so I ordered the fish & chips. Food came out reasonably quickly and it was hot. Hard to mess up fish & chips. The portions were large but I would have been OK with smaller if they could charge less for it. We also ordered the chowder and steamed clams which tasted fresh this time. The chowder was good as always. Ive been to some pretty nice restaurants in the area but none of them charge more for a meal than here. Service was friendly as usual but Im hard pressed to find a reason to come back again. Suggested alternatives: The Fish Market and Kingfish.

Mmmmm! Lobstah! Where to stop when youre driving down 101 from the city to anywhere Redwood City or south? You gotta make a stop here! The food is done the way it should be. Super casual, order first then find a seat. Try the Lobster Rolls, or should I say "Lobstah Rolls"? I order mine "Naked" so I can decide how much mayo and drawn butter to add. The roll is done the way its supposed to be, perfectly toasted and buttery. The Lobster is plentiful! Literally falling out of the roll! We ordered The Double Play Lobster Roll to share, its a bit less expensive than ordering two rolls separately. We also got the Fried Oysters to munch on first. WOW! First off, this is a LARGE portion of oysters. Served piping hot, the oysters literally melt in your mouth. Creamy and delicious! That followed by one of their Naked Lobster Rolls and youre good for the rest of the day! My friend ordered the Allagash Black Ale, their "super duper premium" ale and she was VERY happy with it. Halfway thru and she was feeling it for sure. Will have to see if we can find it on the shelves of the BevMo! UPDATE: still good in a new location.

Aye, I suppose there is no salty sea-dog leather-skinned sailor in me. To die-hard fans, Im afraid that I agree not with thee. The four stars rated on this crustacean name-bearing joint is quite an enigma. Dont get me wrong, I love hole in-the-walls and casual eating spots, but methinks Ive dipped my palate into far better seafood at touristy wharfs. Usually what one would label a sandwich aficionado, I felt no desire to order one. Instead, I opted for the lobster bisque, clam chowder, pulled pork mac n cheese and the blueberry bread pudding to finish. The soups were standard and satisfactory whilst the pulled pork macaroni and cheese fell short of many others Ive sampled elsewhere. Perchance the pricier option with lobster would have been a wiser choice. As for the bread pudding, it was relieving to add some contrast with some sweetness, but again, I cannot say outstanding. If to return again, I shall in faith, order the lobster bisque.

First off, whats up with the early closing hours of 8:30 & 9 pm? Since its located in the peninsula which means you still cater mostly to Silicon Valley engineers, the 8-9pm block is still rather early in terms of a dinner schedule. RC is a sleepy town perhaps there are some city mandated rules... If youre going to go 18 bucks in you might as well treat your arteries with the non-naked Lobster Roll. The mayo isnt as thick as one might think. Skimping on the butter and mayo isnt going to help either since the soft bread/roll is pan-fried with butter on the outside (Fabios worst nightmare other than birds). Since I frequent MD, I usually choose my crab over lobster; however the lobster roll was done well here. My lobster bisque was also tasty. Overall the meal was filling and left me satisfied but not uncomfortable. Incorporate a happy hour menu and lengthen your hours of operation and Ill give you the 5 stars.
