We took our children there for lunch last Saturday. It was noon, and the place was almost empty. No server came to us, and we gave up after 10 mins of waiting and had to find table and seat ourselves. Both servers who were on the floor that day could not speak English properly. When I wanted to order additional dish, nobody would come to help despite my repeated effort to wave and get eye contacts with the waiter. I had to go up to the cashier to place order, the waiter there told me that it was not his business, as he was not serving our table. Finally, the food arrived, our fish & chip was small portion for $18 price tag, my daughters kids meal mac & cheese was overpriced ($6 for a small bowl) and looked like out of a process food package. I will never go back again. Next doors McDonalds provides much better value.

Quite nice, a.fish store that is also a restaurant. Their dishes are cooked in such a way, that they convey skill and knowledge of the cook. Well, the cook has obviously had some decent training in procedures such as cooking pasta. Properly cooked pasta is so difficult to come by in restaurants, that I was really impressed when I was served a plate of perfectly cooked tagliatelle with tuna. The dish wasnt ruined with overcooked pasta, the tagliatelle were cooked to perfect aldente and I enjoyed lunch at the fish market immensely. Their beer selection is trying to pretend that it is a variety, bit in reality it is just a lot of IPA with various aftertastes. A customer who doesnt like IPA beer is going to be disappointed.

The food is very good. However, we sat outside and were brought menus and sourdough bread and waited for 20 minutes. I went back to ask if our order was going to be taken. The person at the check in said they would be out and asked if that was us looking out the window at our table. 15 minutes later the waiter came out and took our order, but after getting the orders from people who arrived 10-15 minutes after we did. Now we are waiting for the bill. If your not in a hurry, and if you dont mind being treated like you are invisible, the food is good. We finally got the bill and we were charged for a bowl of chowder we never ordered.

Very good food, though a few flaws. The bread was a little tough, though very flavorful. Our cup of clam chowder was good. Appetizers of oysters and sushi were great, though our companions complained that the size of the sushi was too large. Our companions salmon entree was overcooked, but our swordfish was perfectly cooked. The fries and cherry tomato sides were excellent. For dessert we had key lime pie (excellent), chocolate torte (excellent), chocolate covered strawberries (excellent), and creme brulee (pretty good) Very good service, nice ambiance.

We eat @ Fish Market many times/month; usually @ the San Mateo restaurant. This time we visited Palo Alto. We ordered & 20 minutes later were told out main course was not available & we had to select another. We did; it came 20 minutes later. Service was slow & while the dishes we ultimately had were to our liking the evening was less than what we expected. In addition there was no real "I sorry for all the invonvenience" - that was disappointing. We left w/out our usual desert. Enjoying real ice cream w/fresh brownies at home.

Fish Market is a very reliable source of tasty seafood, prepared competently in many forms. I particularly appreciate their careful grilling, which is lean and emphasizes the authentic flavors of fresh fish. The restaurant is casually decorated, drawing inspiration from traditional restaurants in fisherman villages. Their seasonal halibut, mahi mahi, and fresh oysters are highly recommended, but I repeatedly come here to enjoy their delicious cioppino topped with ready-to-eat Dungeness crab .

I came here on a Wednesday night, just two people, and it was very easy to find parking in the back. We ordered a clam chowder, the oysters, and the salmon fish dish with veggies. It was all delicious and cooked very well. This is definitely a more low-key place, and you would see a lot of families here as well as corporate people having dinner. You dont have to dress up here as most people come straight from work, or come from soccer / basketball practice (with kids).

I have come to the fish market since 1994 when it was in Phoenix, Az. The Calamari was excellent with a crispy breading. Food was always great, not to mention the piping hot sourdough bread served prior to ordering. The Phoenix location has long since closed. I was excited to find there was a Fish Market open while working in San Jose. Although it started rough, the meal finished well and brought back some great memories. I miss you Mom

The place was packed when we went there for dinner. There was a 10min wait, but it was worth it in my opinion. The interior of the restaurant is well maintained and clean. The section selling fresh fish and seafood did not smell, which was a pleasant surprise. The food didnt take long and did not disappoint. My boyfriend got the grilled mahi mahi and I got the grilled salmon. Both dishes were delicious! Well definitely come back.

You might not guess from the decor, which wouldnt be out of place on any dockside in the gulf or on the Atlantic, but this place actually has a pretty deep menu (of seafood). They have a sushi bar, market counter, and a large restaurant. The food isnt exactly inspired which might make you wince at the bill, but its pretty good and the ambiance offers compensation with a high energy, hang-out-in-groups type of atmosphere.

Way overpriced for the quality of food you get. It was dead and my order still took a long time. I had the Mexican sea bass, roasted veggies and fingerling potatoes. First off I could have cracked a tooth on the cold bread they brought out, with even colder butter. The sea bass was dry, my veggies were chard black, and I got 5 fingerling potatoes for $22 with no salad. I will never be coming back her again.

I have always enjoyed this Fish Market for its fresh food. As always great service from waitress. White chowder was not so great this trip. With little to nearly none clams, too much thickening taste. Good celery and onion was just tasteful. Shrimp Louis salad was less lettuce, separated vegetables, egg, seemed to be lacking something, but had a good amount of shrimp. Dressing was great.

Every time I go to Palo Alto Or San Diego I eat at Fish Market! Amazing food for a very low price. My husband is really hard to please but he loves everything on the menu. He usually will not eat any vegetable that comes his way BUT the basil tomatoes are so delicious he orders them every time. The side calm chowder is a meal in itself. The service has been amazing. A must Go!

Ok so heres the deal George and Saul come over after a busy day and pour me my favorite wine before I hit my seat. They should be told that they go above what a regular restaurant or bar does. Lets face it when you have a rough day. Its nice to go to a place where everyone knows your name. Thanks guys.... You keep me coming back. I recommend the happy hour and dinner menus. Thanks
