My wife and I went to try this restaurant after reading the good reviews for our anniversary and I was impressed from the time that we were greeted at the door. Parking downtown is always a challenge when you are from out of town and they directed me gladly to either the valet ( $7) or 3 hour complimentary parking, which was needed. We were sat down at our table and greeted by one of the best servers I have ever had. Her name is Jessica. She informed us of the specials and got us a drink to start and we looked over the menu which is appealing to all tastes. We had clams appy to share, crab bisque and maytag blue cheese salad to start, cedar planked salmon and parmesan crusted halibut for our main. All of it was divine. Can not say a bad thing about any part of the meal. We were never rushed and Jessica (our server) allowed us time between each course to savour and enjoy ourselves which I find rare these days. I would like to thank the staff at Seastar for one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. They were AWESOME!!!!! We will be stopping in again next time we are in Seattle. This is definately a must if you would like an elegant dining experience.

The food tasted delicious. We did the 3 course offering for restaurant week and the options for each course were vast. I paired with 2 types of white wine, both floral and fruity but on the drier side. I wish i could remember what the first one was because it went perfectly with the tuna poke. I started with the tuna poke which was absolutely delightful. I anticipated a sweeter ginger type sauce but was pleased that it stayed on the more savory side. It was fresh but savory, perfect combo! The second or main entrees was the lemom grass thai curry steelhead (couldnt tell the name of the dish from the description of ingredients). While also delicious, it felt and looked like the dish had sat too long before bringing out. Almost like the fish sat under a warmer and the curry sauce sat on a stove at damn near room temperature. It was likely prepared at the beginning of service. The dessert was creme brulee was slightly too sweet for me but nonetheless enjoyable. Service was fabulous. Just dont go (on first date) with a guy that suggested the place and didnt even bother to offer to go half on a $100 bill before tip.

I came here for the first time last night to celebrate Valentines day. Im a BIG seafood lover and was excited to go to supposedly the "best seafood restaurant in Bellevue." To start - the decor felt very outdated. As if it was decorated 10 years ago and they never bothered to change it. Being that this is in DT Bellevue, and considered a "high end restaurant," that was surprising. Anyway, we ordered the raw bar sampler to start (ahi poke, ceviche, and a cali roll). The poke was good but the ceviche and the cali roll were not (if you compared it to sushi lands cali roll you wouldnt be able to tell the difference). Next we ordered the steelhead and the lobster mac & cheese. Both entrees were good but... they didnt blow me away (I think Hectors crab mac & cheese is way better). Maybe my expectations were just too high but I didnt think our meal was worthy of close to $200. I wish we would have gone somewhere else.

Last nights dinner at SeaStar prompted a discussion of how you react when the service makes you cringe. Saturday night in an area busiest on weekdays means the service should be accommodating and slow. I know the waiter was trying to be personable, but forcing breaks into our conversation to top up water and other things that arent urgent isnt good service on a quiet night. Neither is putting on a terrible Italian accent. I wonder if he realized one of the accents at the table was French. Food-wise: delicious and well worth the high prices. Good sized portions, fresh, and well prepared. The creme brulee was a little curious, but I didnt read the menu description. It arrived in two small ramekins, one with traditional vanilla custard, the other had a heavy hazelnut custard that was more mousse. Kind of yum, but unexpected.

Overall a great dining experience, the food was tasty, and our server was very friendly and helpful. I have to say that based on the overall fanciness I would have expected the prices to be a lot higher. Seastar has under-$30 and under-$20 pages in their wine list. The under-$20 malbec went very well with the cedar plank salmon, which was delicious. Molten chocolate cake for dessert was very tasty both for me (sweet tooth) and my date (dark chocolate lover). There were a couple quirks in the service (didnt get seated right away even though there was plenty of room on a weeknight, and took us a while to get our menus) but overall I thought the quality of the food and atmosphere far exceeded the price so I didnt mind too much. Will definitely be going again!

Seastar offered an extensive menu -- much more so than other participating restaurants in the "3 for $30" program -- and everything my wife and I tasted was well-seasoned and presented with great care. The only possible quibble I have is with the scallop seviche I ordered, which came with a lime wedge I dutifully squeezed over the contents of my plate, rendering it far too acidic and overwhelming the delicate flavor of the scallops. I guess that could be considered my error, but the lime was not necessary, so why include it on the plate? Otherwise, service was excellent, food and atmosphere (a bit on the loud side for an intimate dinner conversation), were also very commendable. I would certainly return again.

It felt old, tired and generally just outdated with the menu and presentation. The only saving grace was that fish was cooked perfectly but the veggies accompanying it, sadly, were not, it looked and tested as if those were prepared hours before and reheated. The bar area is lively but we got drinks that were watered down and had to ask for new ones. The place is not super busy and has a huge dining room. Overall, for me it was below par. Considering the abundance of seafood restaurants around Seattle area and price tags. The server was nice, polite and professional but unfortunately I do not go to a restaurant to hang out with the staff.

Seastar has among the best staff Ive ever encountered and the food is great as well. Our party had symphony tickets and thus had a cutoff time, which they were more than happy to respect and move things along quickly. They were also superb with the recommendations. The spice rub salmon was fantastic and tasted like a fine steak with just a little tang. It paired well with the food beer selection they had, though the wine menu is also exquisite. The noodle appetizer was also sublime and nice and spicy. Fantastic service and food from one of Seattles best in seafood.

Seastar is elegant and delicious, albeit a bit expensive. Its quite classy despite casual attire, and the serving staff was extremely attentive. The Seastar Tower (4 shrimp, 4 scallops, 4 crab cakes) is a must-have. Its not a lot of food, but its absolutely delicious as an appetizer for 3-4 people or maybe part of an entree for one person. I can also highly recommend the spicy fried calimari. Instead of the usual calimari frit, it is just big tubes stuffed with a spicy mix and topped with lime.
