Went here for my anniversary dinner the other night. I was excited to try this place, but by the end I was disappointed. For the appetizer, we had coconut shrimp and some type of pesto garlic bread. For the entrees, I had chicken parm, and my husband had some type of shrimp pasta - nightly special. The only thing I enjoyed was the side of alfredo pasta - they do make their pastas from scratch, on site daily, which I could definitely tell. However, the chicken was awful. There was barely any cheese on top (see photos below), but worst of all, the chicken was really tough and even using a knife to cut it was difficult. The chicken also lacked flavor and only the breading part had some. For $20, its not worth it! When I saw the prices online, I imagined something more upscale than what I walked into. They have an extremely casual setting. The lighting is horrible! Theres no ceiling lights, only a couple of wall sconces on each side, which isnt nearly enough. For the prices they charge, I expected more. The service was alright, and we didnt have to wait long for the food, but there was also hardly anyone in there anyway. I can see why. If you decide to go, dont get the chicken parm - youll be disappointed. Overall, too expensive for such a casual setting, but if we do go back, Ill get the alfredo because that part was good.

Forno Vecchio is an absolute gem and has never disappointed. At first glance you might think its just another forgetful Italian restaurant pushing meatballs and canned tomato sauce, but in fact every dish is made from scratch and executed in a thoughtful manner. The culinary integrity of this place is what really sets it apart. The creative, seasonal specials are delicious and indicate that there is real talent in the kitchen. A few of my favorites include the roasted bone marrow, the rack of lamb, and the filo-wrapped salmon. The gnocchi is also to die for, as is the mushroom marsala burger on the lunch menu (upgrade to truffle fries!). All of this with friendly service makes Forno Vecchio a must visit.

Terrible Italian food! I always wondered why I never hear anyone here in Pleasanton talk about this place. Finally decided to give it a try on a slow Wednesday night and was extremely disappointed. Fettuccine alfredo and shrimp scampi were both terrible! The only to redeeming facts were Wine Wednesdays half off select bottles of wine and their brussel sprout appetizer was good. I recommend staying far away from this place. Try Chianti Reserve up the street if you want good Italian food.

Over priced!!! food was ok. So many better Italian places around. Lasagne was (weird= bad) pasta turned hard like a tortilla chip when in the oven and inside was under cooked. People I was with liked there food but said it was ok. Wine was good. Waitress made it feel rushed. Add in gratuity with 6 people at 18%. Our bill was more expensive than a fancy stake house with 5 people having cocktails.

We each ordered a different meal. The lasagne was just the right mixture of of sauce, pasta and cheese. The sausage soup was a little spicy and delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was light with a hint of lemon, a perfect complement to the salmon. Dessert? Apple and Pear tarts, delicious. Loved the creme brule. Check it out.

My friend and I had the 3 course menu which was fantastic. The food was delicious and the presentation outstanding. We had the salmon covered in pastry which was done to perfection. The waitress was attentive but not overbearing and kept abreast of the sun by using a sun shade. Cant wait to go again!!

Everything made from scratch, fresh local ingredients. Quality shows and the service is tops. 12th visit and counting. Fav appetizer are the grilled brussel sprouts. Bolognese and halibut over sweet corn risotto are 2 favorite entrees.

It was a little noisy, but the fresh clean flavors of the food was wonderful. I had the lemon ricotta gnocchi and could tell in an instant that everything was home made. The service was great. This is by far my favorite Italian restaurant.

Amazing service and food! They make all of their dressings and pasta in house. I had the salmon salad and loved it. Parking can be tough but there is a public lot just down the street if street parking isnt available.

The place feels a little underrated in my opinion as I really like this place and its a great value for the tasty food. The service is probably one of the best in downtown Pleasanton.

Calamari were not fresh at all. Main dishes and desserts just OK. Definitely way to expensive for the quality of food. Would not return.
