I have mixed feelings after my first visit here. They may have had an off day as the joint was jumping at five oclock on a weekday. Took about 20 minutes to get my order to go. Who goes out to eat at 5pm on a weekday? Anyway... ordered to go; 2 meat plate w/2 sides (baby back ribs, brisket, cole slaw, and corn bread). This was a lot of food and half the brisket went into the fridge for maybe a sandwich tomorrow. When I got home I took a quick sample of the brisket. I found it a little too fatty and a bit underdone for me. The ribs also looked a bit the same. No problem, as I planned to reheat it a bit later and I just left the meat in the oven a bit longer (about 25 minutes at 350). After a visit with the oven, both the ribs and the brisket were great. Ribs were fall off the bone tender, and the brisket was much more appetizing with a little more cooking time. Very tasty, but brings me to the conclusion that if I was served this there, I would have either had to send it back (something I rarely ever do), or just be pretty unhappy with my food. The slaw and corn bread were OK, but nothing special. I will try the beans and/or potato salad next time. On exiting the parking lot I saw a sign which may explain why this place was jumping on a weekday afternoon... "$2 Taco Tuesday". Nothing like cheap to get them rolling through the doors like oranges. I will definitely try this place again (just not on a Tuesday), and ask for edge cuts if possible. Update: Since my first visit here I am upping the place to 5 stars. Loving the baby back plate so much I order it almost every visit. The sides have been improved as well. Very tasty place

This place has some of the best barbecue in California. I was traveling through Placerville on my way back to the Bay Area from a weekend in Lake Tahoe. I was craving barbecue, and the reviews looked good for this place. Since you cant find decent barbecue in the Bay Area, I decided to come here. I got the combo plate with beef brisket and ribs with Mac n cheese and sautéed green beans. I also got a side of sweet cornbread with honey butter. Everything was amazing! The flavor of the meat was on point. It was so tender too. I found out the owner is from Texas, so its no wonder why the food was so delicious. Its a small place, but its located conveniently off Hwy. 50. I highly recommend coming here when passing through.

We rolled into Hog Wild BBQ a few minutes before closing on a 3 day holiday weekend. The management and waitress let us seat our group of about 15 people. The food was generally good although my brisket was rather dry as it was at the end of the day. Everyone else hit the jackpot with the various scrumptious offerings. Even though we kept them hours later than their closing, they cheerfully thanked us and invited us to come back. We invited them on our next raft trip... if they bring some pulled pork. This is now my favorite place to eat in Placerville. Be sure to check it out.

First time eating here. Five stars all around! Great service from the moment we walked in. Very laid back atmosphere with classic car decor, nice outdoor patio with heaters. They do have live music but we didnt have time to stay and enjoy it. THE FOOD,,,, ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! Hardy portions with great homemade flavor. The brisket sandwich was tender and juicy with the meat piled high! The people sitting next to us ranted and raved about the ribs. I will try those next time for sure. I highly recommend stopping in here for a bite to eat!

why does a restaurant have a popular dish and then does not cook enough of it to serve their customers. 1st time I was there and will be the last time. No chicken, no brisket. had to settle for a pulled pork, was not offered the cole slaw on the pulled pork as other customers were. the butter for the corn bread tasted sour. the waitress was less then friendly. It just seemed that I was treated a lot different then other patrons that were there. It seemed like I was not their typical customer, could it be that I was a biker.

Had this at Ridge view manor tonight Tue june 13 I could not eat any of the meat which were Ribs and I think a sausage.Way too hot and spicey. My mouth burned for 5 minutes just from a small bite.First Time I had ribs and a barbraque in over 2 years since moving to this place. So very dissappointed that all I could eat was one corn bread muffin. If the place likes to tease people it worked. It was a big tease for someone who never getsa meal or a barbraque. So wanted to tell you Thanks

Truly the best barbecue anywhere ! Small atmosphere you have to be careful because sometimes they run out of certain meats this is because everything is slow Hickory smoked YUM ! The sides are amazing mash potatoes, wedge fries, Side salads, Bacon smoked beans, cornbread. Would recommend to anyone who loves barbecue try the baby backs and chicken. They make a big deal of the pulled pork just not my cuppa tea. Service is always friendly prompt and very helpful with the menu.

We were there for lunch on a Sunday and it was busy, but they found a table for us and service was was very good. The restaurant is austere and businesslike but pleasant enough. I ordered St. Louis ribs. For me they were a little sweeter and not as spicy as I might like and a bit dry but pretty darn good. The chicken was amazing - tender and moist with a big deep-smoked flavor. Their prices are comparable to similar BBQ restaurants I’ve visited in the area. Recommended.

Wonderful dinner last night. First time there and we really didnt know what to expect. Had the .38 special with cheesy bread. We ended up deciding on the brisket, ribs & pulled pork. The sides were chili, green salad and potato wedges. I have to tell you, everything was fantastic. The three meets were delicious and the chili was the best I can remember ever getting at a restaurant. Everyone there was very friendly and certainly made us feel welcome. Well be back.

Carol, our server was awesome and the food was even more awesome!!! The ribs are to die for, the brisket is off the chain and the pulled pork sandwich ( angry pit master) what what YUMMO!! However the sides were so so , I would like to taste the mac and cheese but they only have it on Sat and Sun. I plan on being a regular customer because the owner clearly knows good BBQ and and cook it too!! Cant wait to go back Im craving it!! Your new loyal customer. L.R.

As a Texan living in Northern California for 30 years, I am not impressed by most BBQ joints in Calif, but this place is fantastic! Friendly service and cold beer yes, but mainly the brisket is a taste of Texas, tender and juicy. The ribs are great, and the sides are NOT afterthoughts. The green beans are fresh and sauteed with butter, the pintos are good. I want to try other meats but damn that brisket! The man knows how to smoke.
