We had high hopes given other reviews. We were hoping this would be a new favorite/ regular place for us - but it was a disaster from the start. We had an 8:00 reservation, but wasnt seated until 8:30. That is ok, availability is dependent upon patrons generally- but after we were seated and it took 10 minutes to see our waiter, we suspected something was up. The waiter came and took our drink order, and we also ordered the artichoke crab appetizer. 10 minutes later, the waiter returns with our drinks (he didnt know what a dark and stormy was, I had to explain it, and what he brought had light rum not spiced dark rum and was $14), and told us the specials and asked if we wanted to order an appetizer. Another red flag. We reminded him we ordered the appetizer when we ordered drinks. He hadnt put it in. He apologized and went and put it in. We didnt see our waiter again for 15 minutes (dinner order not yet taken) and he asks what we want for our main dish. We order, including a side. 10 more minutes pass and the appetizer arrives (finally) and the dish is mediocre and not overly hot given it must have sat a while. 25 more minutes pass, and our meals arrive - minus the side we ordered. After putting our dishes down he asks if he can do anything else. I ask about the side, which he obviously forgot, and he says it was up and he would go get it (note a small side of mushrooms and his tray was 45% empty). Out of frustration at the poor service my wife cancelled the side, the waiter was confused and kept pushing that he will bring it, and she insisted that he cancel it. He goes away, comes back with the mushrooms muttering (Im not kidding) that he doesnt want them to go to waste and he will take it off the bill. All of that for mushrooms that were unremarkable at best. We never saw the waiter again - another waiter in the area was available for getting us boxes and eventually the bill. The steak was good, the mashed potatoes were good, everything else - including the cold bread and frozen slab of butter, was not good. We really go with the flow generally and are patient with a slow kitchen if the food is good and the service competent. This place was just a total fail - and a huge disappointment given it seemed to have potential.

I lived in Montebello Ca when I was a little girl, all of the family would get together for Easter, Mothers Day and even New Years Eve. I would go all the time and I even got to personally know one of the hostesses by the name of Lorraine, she even was working on one of my Birthdays and it was a pleasure for her to join us. When I moved to Toluca Lake Ca in the 90s we would still drive to the Dal Rae and even got to know the owners..Since 1997 I have been here in Henderson Nv 6 miles from the Las Vegas strip, and you know what nothing here holds a candle to the DAL RAE. Remember when Big Al and Little Al and Lorraine the piano bar oh how I miss those days. Keep going strong Dal Rae , the shrimp boat, greek salad, garlic cheese bread, bananas foster, company from Santa Rosa Ca and Newport Rhode Island. LIVE STRONG I MISS YOU

I took my boyfriend out to dinner at the Del Rae. I had only heard good reviews from my closest friends. The food was good. Nothing wrong with it. The waitress however insulted my boyfriend and I. She called me dumb and my boyfriend fat. Perhaps because we are in our early 20s she thought that we were going to be horrible tippers, but I am a bartender and know when and how much to tip. I do not support rude people and therefore I did not leave her a tip. I did not call the manager over because I did not want to cause a scene. After our meal we did want to try their dessert but decided to leave because of the rude service. We will never return to that restaurant.

A group of us from work went to the Dal Rae for lunch the other day and it was amazing. We had the whole place to ourselves which was interesting. All of us had the Filet Mignon Pepper Steak. The food was incredible and I would have to say this was the best steak I have ever enjoyed. Service was amazing, well it should be since we were the only guests, it must be amazing since my boss goes there so regularly that she knows everyone by name. I did not know what to expect with the pepper steak, they were very generous with the onion and bacon topping for the steak, I left most of it behind.

A real Retro 60 - 70s Steak and Seafood restaurant BUT still very relevant in 2017! The food and service was top notch and the owner or manager stopped by our table to confirm that we were happy with everything. I always find that to be a nice touch and reassuring that they still care! Because the Del Rae has had such a long history and given the fact that I like modern restaurants, I was apprehensive about going there BUT, rest assured, the restaurant is extremely well taken care of and still fits very nicely into todays culinary scene in So.Ca!

Its all good. Seafood, Beef, Vegetables and sides. Very nice cocktail lounge and wonderful 50s era fixtures throughout the building. Service was superb, we had a main waitress and she never brought anything from the kitchen and asked "who had the". Even her two assistance didnt have to ask who had this or that, they brought it right to the correct person. All very nice, table "cloths", cloth napkins, a relish tray from the era full of goodies and plenty of choices on the menu. Compares somewhat to the Derby in Arcadia. Yum Yum.

if youre over 50, this is the food youll remember growing up as a kid when your folks took you out for that special occasion. steak and lobster are first rate as is tableside prepared caesar salad. a relish tray and homemade garlic bread get things started.prepare to spend some money as this continental style of fare doesnt come cheap. if its your anniversary or birthday youre going to be treated like a king.old school done right!!!!!

Food is always great. Been going here for years and finally got around to writing a review. Every time we walk in we are greeted quickly and they are very nice. The waiting staff is very efficient only bad time was this last day I went for my birthday a Wed they were caught a bit off by the multiple large parties that showed up. I still have it a 5 star because in the last 5 years normally this hadnt happened

Warm Service, formal atmosphere, excellent menu, fantastic food, very romantic. Very reminiscent of the cherry oak and walnut dining rooms the Royal family likes to dine at. I had their Steak Diane and Cherries Jubilee. I have had these dishes around the world and Dal Rae did an excellent job!!! Restaurants like this are, unfortunately, a dying breed!Truly a great find I highly recommend!

loved everything about our evening!! the old world / old-fashioned decor-atmosphere-food-service --- everything!! the warmest hospitality that started with the valet guys warm "welcome to Dal Rae" continued throughout the night. AND we so enjoyed our chat with the proprietor Lorin Smith! our wonderful time there leaves us looking forward to our next visit - or rather, visits!!!
