The uni was brown and looked dried. The salmon roe was dried and Squemish. Both of those dishes looks like they been sitting around for many days. They didnt have any Tamago sushi and had to make some. Their Tamago egg has some sort of maple syrup taste, way too hot because they didnt prepare early, and oversized. The chef served all his sushi directly on my serving plate. Instead he should have prepare all the pieces then proceeded to serve them to me all at once. Oh and the rice, how can I forget, undercooked and stale. The waitress was nice and very friendly however, her constant pacing around was distracting and she made the mistake of giving the wrong bill to me. Two star was generous.

If youre just looking for a meal, then Yakko has all of the necessary elements of a great sushi restaurant - great quality fish, good sake, etc. - although be prepared for a bit of a wait on busy nights. However, if youre looking for something more than just a fantastic meal, then Yakkos bar offers a unique element that makes it a true gem; the sushi chef Leon. Its difficult to find the right words to describe it, but essentially, Leon is a riot. He clearly has a strong rapport with regulars and creates a jovial atomsphere at the bar. Few if any places are as deserving of these 5 stars as Yakko.

Great, dependable, family friendly place to eat fresh sushi with lots of choices. Friendly ambiance, local sushi joint that has been around for many years. The sushi chef and wife run the restaurant with huge smiles. Sit at the low tables, shoes off for a more intimate seating, or at the sushi bar, or regular dining area where you can watch t.v. or peek into the kitchen. Sometimes theres a long wait if you time it wrong. Nothing nicer than a hearty welcome and farewell send off across the room by the staff.

We took our kids here for dinner tonight. We were looking for a low-key place with good food and we couldnt have done better. The staff was insanely nice to us and the kids, it was a much better atmosphere than sushi tomi, and we loved the food... we had everything from sashimi, to tempura, to beef teriyaki. One server even brought over a crazy dancing lion to entertain the kids and was giving them high-fives. Dont worry, even with our table it was mellow and pleasant inside. Wonderful place.

Nice little Japanese restaurant that doesnt fill up too much on weekends, so its possible to get a table quickly. Ive enjoyed their agadeshi tofu and sukiyaki. The staff is nice, but theyve seemed to get confused about my order multiple times. They are always really good about correcting it, though. Nice interior, and its quiet enough to have a good conversation over your meal.

Ordered food for pick-up, arrived on schedule (25 mins later) and had to wait for another 20 minutes. 8 minutes just for somebody to ask if I needed help. Zero explanation on why food wasnt even close to ready. Detail: the place was empty. I used to come here a lot, but this disrespectful episode + the lack of consistency on the food quality are telling me "never more".

My family and I really love Yakkos. The waitresses there are friendly and outgoing, they love kids and are very accommodating, and they have a wide variety of sushi dishes. The Screaming Orgasm (tuna sashimi) -- while embarrassing to order by name -- is actually worth screaming about. Weve been dozens of times and very rarely leave feeling less than 100% satisfied.

Get the Temptation roll!! Yakko is a friendly little sushi place off of the main strip of Castro St. Because its not right on Castro, its a little quieter and more intimate than most of the other restaurants in the area. Their sushi is generally good to very good, but the Temptation roll and their Udon, are both excellent!

The service was horrible. Took 30 minutes to be seated and have our order taken, they never came out to check on the customers, and we asked for the check and a to-go box at least 3 times. They didnt add up the bill or include tax so i assumed tax was factored into the base price, only to be told I was short on the bill.

This is a solid choice for Japanese food in Mountain View. It is large enough that we can normally find a table without waiting. The presentation of the food is excellent, the fish is quite fresh, and the prices are reasonable. My wife enjoyed the soba noodles last time too.

Yakko is a great Japanese restaurant off Castro. Its not usually too busy. Good selection of rolls and the terikayi is good as well. My kids enjoy the bento boxes quite a bit.

Sit at the sushi bar and you will experience the best sushi in mountain view, possibly the South Bay. Ask the chef for his recommendations and you wont be disappointed!

Best sushi around. The salmon and maguro is the best. Try the sake selection. Leon will guide you on a culinary journey that you cant get anywhere else.

It is a nice place, looks to be typically japanese. We had a quite good sushi and sashimi, and it was not too expensive.

Not really Japanese. Its ok for sushi, but the other dishes are average or bad. Its obviously not owned by Japanese.
