Best Japanese Restaurant Hands Down! Great service and excellent food! The chicken teriyaki with shrimp tempura combo is my personal favorite! The tempura is crispy but juicy on the inside. The chicken is not over-cooked and they give you plenty of sauce. I wish they gave you more rice with the meal but thats my only complaint. The miso soup is perfect here and is served extra hot which I love! Other good items are the steak/beef teriyaki and the sushi. Even the salad here is good and I am not even a salad person. I simply love this place and its my favorite Japanese restaurant.

2016年11月訪問 KUBOTAと同系列の店。ほかにもチェーン店あり。場所は、エルカミノ沿いだが少し静かな場所店内はそこそこの広さ、40名程度のキャパカレーライスがある。甘めだがおいしい。照り焼き系の料理が多いが日本人にはいまいち。昼も使えて、コストパフォーマンス的には良いと思う。

For the asian food craver, this place is perhaps the best in the area. When you just need some rice, Id recommend the oyakodon or the chicken cutlet curry. When youre in the mood for a medley, the bento boxes have daily specials from which you can choose from. (If its available, id recommend the beef yakiniku as one of your items.) Or, if youre just in the mood for something simple, light, and refreshing, they give you oodles of noodles in the cold soba dish. Definitely, one of my favorite places with a simple/nice atmosphere.

Gombei is tiny and parking can be tricky... definitely park on the street and go early..but the food now thats what you are really going for. Udon,ramen, teriyaki, and croquets are all things you simply have to try here!!! The usually have a special plate thats an awesome assortment. The kids love the udon (noodle) soup and they will make it plain for your picky eaters upon request. Try the curry dishes... omg so authentic!!!

As the words on their package of chopsticks, appreciation and reflection, they treat customers this way. Thought they literally have only one lady as their waitress, she always handles customers with smile and grace. Lunch special allows you to taste various dishes in one order. The hot tea they provide for free is beyond expectation and makes me feel like as I was in Japan.

I love Gombei and have been coming here since I was a kid! The restaurant is very chill with no tablecloths, paper napkins, etc but the food is delicious and its fast! I particularly love their udon and loved the chicken teriyaki while I was still eating meat. I would definitely come for udon and grilled type dishes not sushi as they have very limited sushi options.

A very authentic Japanese restaurant. At least one of the owners is there every night, the food is consistent and well-prepared. The specials are interesting, and theyve always got good sashimi. The owners excellent attitude drives a high quality of service. A regular family favorite. Highly recommended.

I sometimes dont have time to dine out, so I order ahead for the Vegetable Udon (thin slippery noodles with delicious soup) and show up with a pot that they fill up to the brim. I am never quite sure if they realize how much food they are giving me, but they never skimp. Its great value and good homey food.

Theres really nothing better than the friendly staff at Gombei setting an enormous bowl of veggie udon in front of you on a cold day. Very good Japanese comfort food at a reasonable price. The parking lot can be a little tricky to spot from the road, but its worth the U-turns that you might have to make.

One of my favorite restaurants - when we lived in Menlo Park my husband and I ate there often. The food is terrific and the prices are very reasonable, particularly for that area. When we moved to San Jose we discovered the Gombei in Japantown which is smaller but just as terrific.

There is no sushi at this restaurant. I ordered chicken teriyaki. I got it to go very fast service but when I got it home there was a black strand of hair in it and then I found either a cat or dog hair in it I could not eat it . I ended up throwing it away

Good curry is hard to find. Good curry made without pork (dietary restrictions) is even harder to find. They nailed it. Authentic, delicious, and absolutely worth it. By the way, they take credit now, so its even easier to get good food.

This place is amazing. Their specials are extremely unique (this was the only place Ive ever had boiled calamari) and their price hovers around $10. I usually come here after a hard fought game of soccer in Palo Alto and Gombei fills me up!

Ive been eating at Gombei for years. My "usual" is the Chicken Teriyaki & Tonkatsu combination, but try specials too. Excellent Japanese comfort food, clean, good prices, fast service and friendly staff.

Excellent service, quality of the dishs are supperb. The menus is not too overwhelming whereas you have a difficult time to decide, which I believe obtain the restaurant fresh and tasty food.

Good food and nice staff. Parking is sometimes in short supply. This is Japanese comfort food at its best. If I recall correctly, cash only so stop at the ATM before coming.

Home style Japanese food. Best katsu curry I have had in the area. The curry isnt on the menu at dinner but they usually have it anyway. *Not* a sushi place.

Good quick lunch spot for Japanese food. Bento boxes with 3 choices for lunch is a great deal with a number of options every day.
