They are a solid 3 star place to eat. Service is always acceptable, but the quality has declined in recent years. If youre just looking for quick business lunch it is okay. The main reasons I choose other restaurants first are: * inconsistent quality of dishes / flavor * inconsistent portion sizes * inattention to food allergies Do not expect the staff here to be able to cater to any allergy at all. This isnt intentional or malicious, simply a complete lack of awareness which makes it virtually impossible for me to eat here. Every time my friends drag me here to eat it starts out the same: me: tekka don, I have a gluten allergy. Please send out only gluten-free appetizers for me. server: tekka don, Ill bring the gluten-free soy sauce *miso soup & cucumber salad arrives* me: there is imitation crab on this cucumber salad which contains gluten to which I am allergic server: there is no soy in it, it is safe me: I just informed you it is not, would you please bring me one that has not been in contact with imitation crab or other gluten ingredients? Also, is the miso soup safe? server: the soup isnt safe, feel free to give it to one of your friends, we arent charging you for it. *server brings another cucumber salad* me: there are still bits of imitation crab meat in here server: thats just the sauce, the cucumbers arent touching the crab *facepalm*

I usually go to Downtown Bellevue or Redmond whenever I want to eat Japanese food, because most restaurants there serve great quality food in clean environment! Came here with my friend yesterday mid-afternoon, was 1st time for both of us, we were in the area, though we will give this place a try, well, big mistake for us! The waitress was cold and did not have any pleasant look for even one second. Which we seen that pretty often in Asian restaurants. Their food are way over-priced: the quality of their food, the run-down look of the restaurant (food stain on the wall right next to your table), the service... All were below acceptable which did not match up with their high price! Some of our order: Chicken Katsu $16.95 which came with about 10 small pieces of dry over deep-fried tasteless chicken white meat. Sweet Shrimp $7.00 for 2 small shrimps which did not look/taste fresh. What a joke! The worse thing is, therere food flies kept flying over our food, and both of us were so disgusted by it! If they have food flies out here in the dining area, we could not imagine how DISGUSTING their kitchen is? We were pretty shocked of business like this can stay alive when there are so many better choices near by. Well, we will never come back here for sure.

Food was pretty middle of the road, nothing special. No complaints there. Average price for the area. Exceeeedingly poor service. 4 people ordered. All got miso soup, only it took about 10 minutes longer for 1 in our group to get his soup. Then 3 orders were brought out and not the 4th. When this was pointed out to the waitress, she said one of the meals she had given us was actually 2 orders on one plate, (family style?) which was already eaten. She hadnt bothered to point this out when food was served nor given us any plates to move the food onto. Just served plates in front of 3 people and walked away. No attempt to right the situation was made, no solution offered. Water wasnt filled the whole time, even with empty glasses of water at the edge of the table. Sorry 3 strikes and youre out. Wont be back even though its so close to home, its not worth babysitting the waitstaff the whole time.

There are, surprisingly to some Seattlites, some of the better "Seattle area" sushi places on the Eastside that let you avoid going over a bridge to eat the authentic stuff...Tokyo Japanese Restaurant is one of those (I wont name the other 3 here), with two Japanese sushi chefs who dont adulterate how things should be done like you get at other shops that either leave wasabi off of your sushi so you can drown your food in it yourself, or skimp on the rice vinegar which is what gives sushi rice its unique taste (something almost always omitted at any Korean/Chinese sushi place). If you think you are a sushi lover (as in you dont just eat complicated rolls covered in sauces that mean you cant actually taste the fish), then this is a good spot for authenticity.

Sushi Chef Yama is very talented and is a really nice guy. I have had mixed experience in terms of the cuts from some of the other chefs, but in general, the food at Tokyo is really good. The fish is top notch (I have never experienced poor quality ingredients as a previous commenter posted). There are some great Sushi places in Seattle & Bellevue (Shiro, Nishino, Ginza to name a few), but I still put Tokyo in my top 3-5. Its not a romantic atmosphere for a date, so keep that in mind - but if you are just looking for really good sushi and a casual vibe, its a great place. I find sitting at the suhsi bar here gets you better service, better sushi, and if you strike up a conversation, probably some free samples ;o)

Im not one to complain about service or write a bad review but he service is awful, the waitresses are either cold, uninterested, or have an attitude about everything. Never seen such poor service before. They never check to see how the food is and dont come by to fill a water glass even once! For the price of the food you are paying to eat here, you would expect a waitress to at least be nice to you rather than bark at you and check on you to see if you need anything at least one time... wont be returning and I do not recommend when there are far better restaurants in the area that actually want your business. The sushi chefs are the only nice people in this restaurant.

Decent food. Nothing to write home about but no major complaints either. Service is weak. Service at an IHOP is better than here at Tokyo in Factoria. Our server couldnt smile on Fathers Day, passed the dishes around the table with making us feel like we were children at her grumpy home... Food did not come out all at once or even close... so my meal was cold by the time everyone got theirs. Food a bit pricey but theres a lot of it. Good news is that there was no wait for a table in fathers day and the food was decent. Service was main detraction from the meal. They could use a workshop on how to wait tables.

Weve come here with large parties (10 or more) over the last few years, but Im not sure well be returning. On our last visit, a woman made a mistake on our reservation for a party of 14, marking it for the wrong night. Thank goodness they had space for us that we only had to wait 15 minutes. However, the service was mediocre overall. We spent about $600 and I didnt feel the food, while pretty good, could justify the price given the service. Musashi is in the same complex - so if you have a small party I would recommend that over Tokyo.

The Bento Boxes here are the BEST! Great value and you get so MUCH food! Not to mention, the food is so delicious! My favorite dish would have to be the Curry Rice with Beef. Its not on the menu, but they will make it for you if you special order it. They just charge you extra for it. Its SO GOOD! And they serve it with a side of pickled veggies. The portions are large enough to have as leftovers for lunch the next day. If youre in Factoria area and are looking for some good Japanese food, you need to come here!
